1	어부들을 제자로 부르시다(마 4:18-22; 막 1:16-20) 무리가 하나님의 말씀을 들으려고 예수께로 밀려왔을 때에 예수께서는 게네사렛 호숫가에 서 계셨다.	And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,
2	그가 보시니, 배 두 척이 호숫가에 대어 있고, 어부들은 배에서 내려서, 그물을 씻고 있었다.	And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.
3	예수께서 그 배 가운데 하나인 시몬의 배에 올라서, 그에게 배를 뭍에서 조금 떼어 놓으라고 하신 다음에, 배에 앉으시어 무리를 가르치셨다.	And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.
4	예수께서 말씀을 마치시고, 시몬에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 깊은 데로 나가거라. 너희는 그물을 내려, 고기를 잡아라."	Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
5	시몬이 대답하기를 "선생님, 우리가 밤새도록 애를 썼으나, 아무것도 잡지 못했습니다. 그러나 선생님의 말씀에 따라 그물을 내리겠습니다" 하였다.	And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
6	그런 다음에, 그대로 하니, 많은 고기 떼가 걸려들어서, 그물이 찢어질 지경이 되었다.	And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.
7	그래서 그들은 다른 배에 있는 동료들에게 손짓하여, 와서, 자기들을 도와 달라고 하였다. 그들이 와서, 고기를 두 배에 가득히 채우니, 배가 가라앉을 지경이 되었다.	And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.
8	시몬 베드로가 이것을 보고, 예수의 무릎 앞에 엎드려서 "주님, 나에게서 떠나 주십시오. 나는 죄인입니다" 하고 말하였다.	When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
9	베드로와 그와 함께 있는 모든 사람은, 자기들이 잡은 고기가 엄청나게 많은 것에 놀랐던 것이다.	For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:
10	또한 세베대의 아들들로서 시몬의 동료인 야고보와 요한도 놀랐다. 예수께서 시몬에게 말씀하셨다. "두려워하지 말아라. 이제부터 너는 사람을 낚을 것이다."	And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.
11	그들은 배를 뭍에 대고서, 모든 것을 버려 두고 예수를 따라갔다.	And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.
12	나병 환자를 깨끗하게 하시다(마 8:1-4; 막 1:40-45) 예수께서 어떤 동네에 계실 때에, 온몸에 나병이 걸린 사람이 찾아 왔다. 그는 예수를 보고서, 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드려 간청하기를 "주님, 하고자 하시면, 나를 깨끗하게 해주실 수 있습니다" 하였다.	And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
13	예수께서 손을 내밀어서, 그에게 대시고 "그렇게 해주마. 깨끗하게 되어라" 하고 말씀하시니, 곧 나병이 그에게서 떠나갔다.	And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
14	예수께서 그 사람에게 아무에게도 말하지 말라고 명하시고 "가서, 제사장에게 네 몸을 보이고, 네가 깨끗하게 된 것에 관하여 모세가 명령한 대로 예물을 드려서, 사람들에게 증거로 삼도록 하여라" 하고 말씀하셨다.	And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
15	그러나 예수의 소문이 더욱더 퍼지니, 큰 무리가 그의 말씀도 듣고, 또 자기들의 병도 고치고자 하여 모여들었다.	But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
16	그러나 예수께서는 외딴 곳으로 물러가셔서 기도하셨다.	And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.
17	중풍병 환자를 고치시다(마 9:1-8; 막 2:1-12) 어느 날 예수께서 가르치시는데, 갈릴리와 유대의 모든 마을과 예루살렘에서 온 바리새파 사람들과 율법교사들이 둘러앉아 있었다. 예수께서는 주의 능력으로 병을 고쳐주고 계셨다.	And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
18	그런데 사람들이 중풍병에 걸린 사람을 침대에 눕힌 채로 데려와서는, 안으로 들여서, 예수 앞에 놓으려고 하였다.	And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.
19	그러나 무리 때문에 그를 안으로 들여놓을 길이 없어서, 지붕으로 올라가서, 기와를 벗기고 그 환자를 침대에 누인 채, 예수 앞 한가운데로 달아 내렸다.	And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.
20	예수께서 그들의 믿음을 보시고 "이 사람아, 네 죄가 용서함을 받았다" 하고 말씀하셨다.	And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.
21	그래서 율법학자들과 바리새파 사람들이 말하기를 "하나님을 모독하는 말을 하다니, 이 사람은 누구인가? 하나님 한 분 밖에, 누가 죄를 용서할 수 있는가?" 하면서, 의아하게 생각하기 시작하였다.	And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
22	예수께서는 그들의 생각을 알아채시고 말씀하셨다. "어찌하여 너희는 마음 속으로 의아하게 생각하느냐?	But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?
23	'네 죄가 용서함을 받았다' 하고 말하는 것과, '일어나서 걸어가거라' 하고 말하는 것 가운데서, 어느 편이 더 말하기가 쉬우냐?	Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?
24	그러나 인자가 땅에서 죄를 용서하는 권세를 가지고 있음을 너희들이 알게 하겠다." 그리고 예수께서 중풍병 환자에게 말씀하셨다. "내가 너에게 말한다. 일어나서, 네 침대를 거두어 들고 네 집으로 가거라."	But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.
25	그러자 곧 그는 사람들 앞에서 일어나, 자기가 누웠던 침대를 거두어 들고, 하나님을 찬양하면서 집으로 갔다.	And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
26	사람들은 모두 놀라서 하나님을 찬양하였고, 두려움에 차서 "우리는 오늘 신기한 일을 보았다" 하고 말하였다.	And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.
27	레위를 부르시다(마 9:9-13; 막 2:13-17) 그 뒤에 예수께서 나가셔서, 레위라는 세리가 세관에 앉아 있는 것을 보시고 "나를 따라오너라" 하고 말씀하셨다.	And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.
28	레위는 모든 것을 버려 두고, 일어나서 예수를 따라갔다.	And he left all, rose up, and followed him.
29	레위가 자기 집에서 예수에게 큰 잔치를 베풀었는데, 많은 세리와 그 밖의 사람들이 큰 무리를 이루어서, 그들과 한 자리에 앉아서 먹고 있었다.	And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.
30	바리새파 사람들과 그들의 율법학자들이 예수의 제자들에게 불평하면서 말하기를 "어찌하여 당신들은 세리와 죄인들과 어울려서 먹고 마시는 거요?" 하였다.	But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?
31	예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "건강한 사람에게는 의사가 필요하지 않으나, 병든 사람에게는 필요하다.	And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
32	나는 의인을 부르러 온 것이 아니라, 죄인을 불러서 회개시키러 왔다."	I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
33	금식 논쟁(마 9:14-17; 막 2:18-22) 사람들이 예수께 말하였다. "요한의 제자들은 자주 금식하며 기도하고, 바리새파 사람의 제자들도 그렇게 하는데, 당신의 제자들은 먹고 마시는군요."	And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink?
34	예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "너희는 혼인 잔치의 손님들을, 신랑이 자기들과 함께 있는 동안에 금식하게 할 수 없지 않느냐?	And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?
35	그러나 신랑을 빼앗길 날이 올 터인데, 그 날에는 그들이 금식할 것이다."	But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.
36	예수께서는 그들에게 또 비유를 말씀하셨다. "새 옷에서 한 조각을 떼어 내서, 낡은 옷에다가 붙이는 사람은 없다. 그렇게 하면, 그 새 옷은 찢어져서 못 쓰게 되고, 또 새 옷에서 떼어 낸 조각은 낡은 옷에 어울리지도 않을 것이다.	And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.
37	새 포도주를 낡은 가죽 부대에다가 넣는 사람은 없다. 그렇게 하면, 새 포도주가 그 가죽 부대를 터뜨려서, 포도주는 쏟아지고, 가죽 부대는 못 쓰게 된다.	And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.
38	새 포도주는 새 가죽 부대에 넣어야 한다.	But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.
39	묵은 포도주를 마시고 나서, 새 포도주를 원하는 사람은 없다. 묵은 포도주를 마신 사람은 '묵은 것이 좋다'고 한다."	No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.
