절	새번역 (2001)	King James Version
1	한 예언자가 여호사밧을 규탄하다 유다의 여호사밧 왕이 예루살렘에 있는 그의 궁으로 무사히 돌아왔을 때에,	And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.
2	하나니의 아들 예후 선견자가 나가서, 왕을 찾아가서 말하였다. “임금님께서는, 악한 자를 돕고 주님을 싫어하는 자들의 편을 드는 것이 옳다고 생각하십니까? 임금님께서 그렇게 하셨으므로 주님의 진노가 임금님께 내릴 것입니다.	And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the Lord? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the Lord.
3	그러나 임금님께서는 선한 일도 하셨습니다. 아세라 목상을 이 땅에서 없애 버리시고, 마음을 오로지 하나님 찾는 일에 쏟으신 일도 있으십니다.”	Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast taken away the groves out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seek God.
4	여호사밧의 개혁 여호사밧은 예루살렘에 살면서, 브엘세바에서부터 에브라임 산간지역에 이르기까지 민정을 살피러 다녔으며, 백성들을 주 그들의 조상의 하나님께 돌아오게 하였다.	And Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem: and he went out again through the people from Beer–sheba to mount Ephraim, and brought them back unto the Lord God of their fathers.
5	그는 또 온 유다의 요새화된 성읍에 재판관들을 임명하여 세우고,	And he set judges in the land throughout all the fenced cities of Judah, city by city,
6	그들에게 말하였다. “그대들은 맡은 일을 할 때에 삼가 조심하여 하시오. 그대들이 하는 재판은 단순히 사람을 기쁘게 하는 것이 아니라, 그대들이 재판할 때에 그대들과 함께 계시는 주님을 기쁘시게 하는 것임을 명심하시오.	And said to the judges, Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the Lord, who is with you in the judgment.
7	주님을 두려워하는 일이 한 순간이라도 그대들에게서 떠나지 않도록 하시오. 주 우리의 하나님께서는 불의하지도 않으시며, 치우침도 없으시며, 뇌물을 받지도 않으시니, 재판할 때에 삼가 조심하여 하도록 하시오.”	Wherefore now let the fear of the Lord be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.
8	이 밖에 예루살렘에서도 여호사밧이 레위인들과 제사장들과 이스라엘 가문의 족장들 가운데서 사람을 뽑아 재판관으로 임명하여, 주님의 법을 어긴 경우를 포함하여, 예루살렘에 사는 모든 주민의 송사를 재판하게 하였다.	Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set of the Levites, and of the priests, and of the chief of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of the Lord, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem.
9	그는 재판관들에게 다음과 같은 명령을 내렸다. “그대들은 이 일을, 주님을 두려워하는 마음으로, 성실하게, 온 마음을 다하여 수행해야 하오.	And he charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the Lord, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.
10	어느 성읍에서든지, 동포가 사람을 죽이거나, 법이나 계명이나 율례나 규례를 어겨서 재판관들에게 송사를 제기해 오면, 재판관들은 그들에게 경고하여 주님께 범죄하지 않도록 하시오. 그렇지 않으면, 주님의 진노가 그대들 재판관들 그대들의 동포에게 내릴 것이오. 내가 시킨 대로 하면, 그대들에게 죄가 없을 것이오.	And what cause soever shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, ye shall even warn them that they trespass not against the Lord, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not trespass.
11	주님께 예배드리는 모든 문제는, 아마랴 대제사장이 최종 권위를 가지고 결정을 내릴 것이며, 왕에게 속한 모든 문제에 관련된 것은, 유다 지파의 우두머리 이스마엘의 아들 스바댜가 최종 권위를 가지고 결정을 내릴 것이오. 레위 사람들은 법정에서 결정된 사항들이 실행되는 것을 감독하는 관리의 책임을 질 것이오. 용기를 내어 이 모든 지시를 잘 실행하시오. 주님께서는 공의를 이루는 사람들의 편을 드신다는 것을 명심하시오.”	And, behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of the Lord; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, for all the king’s matters: also the Levites shall be officers before you. Deal courageously, and the Lord shall be with the good.
