절	새번역 (2001)	King James Version
1	유다 왕 아사의 통치 아비야가 죽어서, 그의 조상들과 함께 잠드니, ‘다윗 성’에 장사하였고, 그의 아들 아사가 그의 뒤를 이어 왕이 되었다. 아사가 다스리던 십 년 동안은 나라가 조용하였다.	So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years.
2	아사는 주 그의 하나님이 보시기에 좋은 일, 올바른 일을 하였다.	And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God:
3	이방 제단과 산당을 없애고, 석상을 깨뜨리고, 아세라 목상을 부수었다.	For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:
4	그는 또 유다 백성에게 명령을 내려서, 주 조상들의 하나님의 뜻을 찾고 하나님의 율법과 명령을 실천하게 하였으며,	And commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.
5	또 유다의 모든 성읍에서 산당과 태양상을 없애 버렸다. 그의 통치 아래 나라는 조용하였다.	Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.
6	주님께서 아사에게 평안을 주셨으므로 나라가 조용하였고, 여러 해 동안 아무도 그에게 싸움을 걸어 오지 않았다. 그래서 아사는 유다 지방에 요새 성읍들을 만들 수 있었다.	And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the Lord had given him rest.
7	그는 유다 백성에게 말하였다. “이 성읍들을 다시 세웁시다. 성벽을 둘러 쌓고, 탑과 성문과 빗장을 만듭시다. 우리가 주 하나님을 찾았으므로, 주님께서 사방으로 우리에게 평안을 주셨습니다.” 그래서 그들은 성읍들을 세우기 시작하여, 일을 잘 마쳤다.	Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the Lord our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.
8	아사에게는 방패와 창으로 무장한 유다 출신 군인 삼십만이 있었고, 작은 방패와 활로 무장한 베냐민 출신 군인 이십팔만이 있었다. 그들은 모두 용감한 정예병이었다.	And Asa had an army of men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour.
9	에티오피아 사람 세라가 유다를 치려고, 백만 대군에 병거 삼백 대를 이끌고 쳐들어와서, 마레사에 이르렀다.	And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah.
10	아사가 그를 맞아 싸우려고 나아가, 마레사의 스바다 골짜기에 진을 치고,	Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.
11	주 그의 하나님께 부르짖었다. “주님, 주님께서 돕고자 하실 때에는, 숫자가 많고 적음이나 힘이 세고 약함을 문제삼지 않으십니다. 우리가 주님을 의지하고, 주님의 이름으로 이 무리를 물리치러 왔으니, 주 우리의 하나님, 우리를 도와주십시오. 주님, 주님은 우리의 하나님이십니다. 인간이 주님을 이기지 못하도록 해주십시오!”	And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.
12	주님께서 에티오피아 군을 아사와 유다 군 앞에서 치시니, 에티오피아 군이 도망쳤다.	So the Lord smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.
13	아사와 그를 따르는 군대가 그랄에 이르기까지, 에티오피아 군대를 추격하며 무찔렀다. 에티오피아 군은 주님 앞에서와 주님의 군대 앞에서 패망하고 말았으므로, 한 사람도 살아 남지 못하였다. 유다 군은 대단히 많은 전리품을 얻었다.	And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them unto Gerar: and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the Lord, and before his host; and they carried away very much spoil.
14	주님께서 그랄 주변의 모든 성읍 백성들을 두렵게 하시니, 유다 군이 그 모든 성읍을 치고 약탈하였다. 그 성읍들 안에는 전리품으로 가져 갈 물건들이 많이 있었다.	And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of the Lord came upon them: and they spoiled all the cities; for there was exceeding much spoil in them.
15	또 가축들을 지키는 자들의 장막을 덮쳐서 많은 양과 낙타를 사로잡았다. 그런 다음에야 예루살렘으로 돌아왔다.	They smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem.
