절	새번역 (2001)	King James Version
1	이방인 아내와 자녀를 내쫓다 에스라가 하나님의 성전 앞에 엎드려 울면서 기도하며 죄를 자백하자, 이스라엘 사람도 남자, 여자, 어린아이 할 것 없이, 많은 무리가 에스라 주변에 모여서, 큰소리로 슬피 울었다.	Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.
2	그 때에 엘람의 자손 여히엘의 아들 스가냐가 에스라에게 말하였다. “우리가 주변에 있는 이 땅의 백성에게서 이방 여자를 데려와서 아내로 삼음으로써, 하나님께 죄를 지었지만, 아직도 이스라엘에 희망은 있습니다.	And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.
3	이제 우리는 하나님의 명령을 두려워하면서 받드는 분들의 권면과, 에스라 제사장님의 가르침을 따라서, 이방 여자들과 그들에게서 난 아이들을 다 보낼 것을 하나님 앞에서 언약하겠습니다. 율법대로 하겠습니다.	Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.
4	그러므로 이제 일어나십시오. 이 모든 일은 제사장님이 맡아서 하셔야 합니다. 우리가 제사장님을 도와 드리겠습니다. 용기 있게 밀고 나가십시오.”	Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.
5	이 말을 듣고, 에스라가 일어나서, 지도급 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 온 이스라엘 사람에게 그들이 말한 대로 하겠다고 맹세하라고 요구하니, 그들은 그대로 맹세하였다.	Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware.
6	에스라는 하나님의 성전 앞에서 물러 나와, 엘리아십의 아들 여호하난의 방으로 들어가서, 포로로 잡혀 갔다가 돌아온 백성이 지은 죄 때문에, 밤이 새도록 밥도 먹지 않고, 물도 마시지 않으며, 슬피 울었다.	Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.
7	잡혀 갔다가 돌아온 백성은 모두 예루살렘으로 모이라는 명령이 예루살렘과 온 유다 땅에 내렸다.	And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;
8	사흘 안에 오지 않는 사람은, 지도자들과 원로들의 결정에 따라 재산을 빼앗고, 잡혀 갔다가 돌아온 백성의 모임에서 내쫓는다고 하니,	And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.
9	사흘 안에 유다와 베냐민 사람들이 모두 예루살렘에 모였다. 그 때가 아홉째 달 이십일이다. 온 백성이 하나님의 성전 앞뜰에 모여 앉아서 떨고 있었다. 사태가 이러한 터에, 큰비까지 내리고 있었기 때문이다.	Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.
10	드디어, 에스라 제사장이 나서서, 그들에게 말하였다. “여러분은 이방 여자들과 결혼하였으므로, 배신자가 되었습니다. 그것 때문에, 이스라엘의 죄가 더욱 커졌습니다.	And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.
11	이제 주 여러분의 조상의 하나님께 죄를 자백하고, 그의 뜻을 따르십시오. 이 땅에 있는 이방 백성과 관계를 끊고, 여러분이 데리고 사는 이방인 아내들과도 인연을 끊어야 합니다.”	Now therefore make confession unto the Lord God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.
12	온 회중이 큰 목소리로 대답하였다. “옳으신 말씀입니다. 우리는 반드시 말씀하신 대로 하겠습니다.	Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.
13	그렇지만 여기에 모인 사람들의 수가 많고, 때가 장마철이므로, 이렇게 바깥에 서 있기가 어렵습니다. 더구나 이 일은 우리의 잘못이 너무나 커서, 하루 이틀에 처리될 문제가 아닙니다.	But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.
14	그러므로 대표를 뽑아서, 모든 회중의 일을 맡기는 것이 좋겠습니다. 마을마다 이방 여자와 결혼한 사람들에게는 날짜를 정하여 주어서, 그들이 자기 마을의 원로들과 재판장들과 함께 나오게 하고, 이 일 때문에 일어난 우리 하나님의 진노를 풀어 드리는 것이 좋겠습니다.”	Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.
15	오직, 아사헬의 아들 요나단과 디과의 아들 야스야만 이 의견에 반대하였으며, 므술람과 레위 사람 삽브대가 그들에게 동조하였을 뿐이다.	Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.
16	포로로 사로잡혀 갔다가 돌아온 백성들은, 많은 쪽의 의견을 따르기로 하였다. 에스라 제사장은 각 가문의 갈래마다 한 사람씩을 우두머리로 뽑아서, 그들에게 책임을 맡겼다. 이방 여자와 결혼한 사람들에 대한 조사는, 열째 달 초하루에 시작하여,	And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.
17	이듬 해 첫째 달 초하루에 끝났다.	And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.
18	이방 여자와 결혼한 남자들 제사장의 무리 가운데서 이방 여자와 결혼한 사람들은 다음과 같다. 요사닥의 아들 예수아 및 그 형제들의 자손 가운데서는 마아세야와 엘리에셀과 야립과 그달리야이다.	And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.
19	그들은 모두 손을 들어서, 아내를 내보내겠다고 서약하고, 지은 죄가 있으므로, 각자 숫양 한 마리씩을 잡아서 속죄제물로 바쳤다.	And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.
20	임멜의 자손 가운데서는 하나니와 스바댜요,	And of the sons of Immer; Hanani, and Zebadiah.
21	하림의 자손 가운데서는 마아세야와 엘리야와 스마야와 여히엘과 웃시야요,	And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.
22	바스훌의 자손 가운데서는 엘료에내와 마아세야와 이스마엘과 느다넬과 요사밧과 엘라사요,	And of the sons of Pashur; Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.
23	레위 사람들 가운데서는 요사밧과 시므이와 글리다라고도 하는 글라야와 브다히야와 유다와 엘리에셀이요,	Also of the Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita,) Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.
24	노래하는 사람들 가운데서는 엘리아십이요, 성전 문지기들 가운데서는 살룸과 델렘과 우리요,	Of the singers also; Eliashib: and of the porters; Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.
25	이스라엘 일반인으로서, 바로스의 자손 가운데서는 라먀와 잇시야와 말기야와 미야민과 엘르아살과 말기야와 브나야요,	Moreover of Israel: of the sons of Parosh; Ramiah, and Jeziah, and Malchiah, and Miamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.
26	엘람의 자손 가운데서는 맛다니야와 스가랴와 여히엘과 압디와 여레못과 엘리야요,	And of the sons of Elam; Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Eliah.
27	삿두의 자손 가운데서는 엘료에내와 엘리아십과 맛다니야와 여레못과 사밧과 아시사요,	And of the sons of Zattu; Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.
28	베배의 자손 가운데서는 여호하난과 하나냐와 삽배와 아들래요,	Of the sons also of Bebai; Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai.
29	바니의 자손 가운데서는 므술람과 말룩과 아다야와 야숩과 스알과 여레못이요,	And of the sons of Bani; Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, and Ramoth.
30	바핫모압의 자손 가운데서는 앗나와 글랄과 브나야와 마아세야와 맛다니야와 브살렐과 빈누이와 므낫세요,	And of the sons of Pahath–moab; Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.
31	하림의 자손 가운데서는 엘리에셀과 잇시야와 말기야와 스마야와 시므온과	And of the sons of Harim; Eliezer, Ishijah, Malchiah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,
32	베냐민과 말룩과 스마랴요,	Benjamin, Malluch, and Shemariah.
33	하숨의 자손 가운데서는 맛드내와 맛닷다와 사밧과 엘리벨렛과 여레매와 므낫세와 시므이요,	Of the sons of Hashum; Mattenai, Mattathah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, and Shimei.
34	바니의 자손 가운데서는 마아대와 아므람과 우엘과	Of the sons of Bani; Maadai, Amram, and Uel,
35	브나야와 베드야와 글루히와	Benaiah, Bedeiah, Chelluh,
36	와냐와 므레못과 에랴십과	Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,
37	맛다니야와 맛드내와 야아수와	Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasau,
38	바니와 빈누이와 시므이와	And Bani, and Binnui, Shimei,
39	셀레먀와 나단과 아다야와	And Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah,
40	막나드배와 사새와 사래와	Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai,
41	아사렐과 셀레먀와 스마랴와	Azareel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah,
42	살룸과 아마랴와 요셉이요,	Shallum, Amariah, and Joseph.
43	느보의 자손 가운데서는 여이엘과 맛디디야와 사밧과 스비내와 잇도와 요엘과 브나야이다.	Of the sons of Nebo; Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jadau, and Joel, Benaiah.
44	이들은 모두 이방 여자와 결혼한 남자이다. 이방 여자 가운데는 자식을 낳은 사람들도 있었다.	All these had taken strange wives: and some of them had wives by whom they had children.
