1	속죄일 아론의 두 아들이 주님 앞에 가까이 갔다가 죽은 일이 있다. 그들이 그렇게 죽은 뒤에, 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the Lord, and died;
2	다음은 그 때에 주님께서 모세에게 하신 말씀이다. “너는 너의 형 아론에게 ‘죽지 않으려거든, 보통 때에는 휘장 안쪽 거룩한 곳 곧 법궤를 덮은 덮개 앞으로 나아가지 말라’고 일러라. 내가 구름에 휩싸여 있다가 그 덮개 위에서 나타나기 때문이다.	And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.
3	아론이 거룩한 곳으로 들어가려고 할 때에는 다음과 같이 하여야 한다. 소 떼 가운데서 수송아지 한 마리를 골라서 속죄제물로, 숫양 한 마리를 번제물로 바쳐야 한다.	Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.
4	그는 모시로 만든 거룩한 속옷을 입고, 그 안에는 맨살에다 모시로 만든 홑옷을 입어야 한다. 모시로 만든 띠를 띠고 모시로 만든 관을 써야 한다. 이것들이 모여서 거룩한 옷 한 벌이 된다. 그는 먼저 물로 몸을 씻고 나서, 그 다음에 이 옷들을 입어야 한다.	He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on.
5	그런 다음에야, 그는 이스라엘 자손의 회중이 속죄제물로 바치는 숫염소 두 마리와 번제물로 바치는 숫양 한 마리를 받을 수 있다.	And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
6	아론은 자신을 속하는 속죄제물로 수소를 바쳐, 자기와 자기 집안의 죄를 속하여야 한다.	And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house.
7	또한 그는 숫염소 두 마리를 끌어다가, 회막 어귀에, 주 앞에 세워 놓고,	And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
8	그 숫염소 두 마리를 놓고서 제비를 뽑아서, 주에게 바칠 염소와 아사셀에게 바칠 염소를 결정하여야 한다.	And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the Lord, and the other lot for the scapegoat.
9	아론은 주의 몫으로 뽑힌 숫염소를 끌어다가 속죄제물로 바치고,	And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the Lord’s lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.
10	아사셀의 몫으로 뽑힌 숫염소는 산 채로 주 앞에 세워 두었다가, 속죄제물을 삼아, 빈 들에 있는 아사셀에게 보내야 한다.	But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.
11	아론이 자신을 속하는 속죄제물로 수소를 바쳐, 자기와 자기 집안의 죄를 속하는 예식은 다음과 같다. 그는 먼저 수소를 잡아 자신을 속하는 속죄제물로 바쳐야 한다.	And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself:
12	그리고 주 앞의 제단에 피어 있는 숯을 향로에 가득히 담고, 또 곱게 간 향기 좋은 향가루를 두 손으로 가득 떠서, 휘장 안으로 가지고 들어가서,	And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the Lord, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail:
13	주 앞에서 향가루를 숯불에 태우고, 그 향 타는 연기가 증거궤 위의 덮개를 가리우게 하여야 한다. 그래야만 그가 죽지 않는다.	And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the Lord, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not:
14	그런 다음에, 그는 수소의 피를 얼마 받아다가 손가락으로 찍어서, 덮개 너머 곧 덮개 동쪽 부분에 한 번 뿌리고, 손가락으로 피를 찍어서 덮개 앞에 일곱 번 뿌려야 한다.	And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.
15	이어서 아론은 백성이 속죄제물로 바친 숫염소를 잡아, 그 피를 휘장 안으로 가지고 들어가서, 수소의 피를 뿌릴 때와 마찬가지로, 덮개 너머와 덮개 앞에 뿌려야 한다.	Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:
16	이렇게 하여, 그는 성소를 성결하게 하여야 한다. 이스라엘 자손이 부정을 탔고, 그들이 온갖 죄를 지었으므로, 성소마저 부정을 탔기 때문이다. 그는 같은 방법으로 회막도 성결하게 하여야 한다. 부정 탄 백성이 드나들어서, 회막도 부정을 탔기 때문이다.	And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.
17	아론이, 자기와 자기 집안과 이스라엘 온 회중의 죄를 속하려고, 성소 안으로 들어가서 예식을 올리는 동안에는, 아무도 회막 안에 있어서는 안 된다.	And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.
18	성소 안에서 치르는 예식이 끝나면, 아론은 주 앞에 있는 제단으로 나아가서, 그 제단을 성결하게 하는 예식을 올리고, 잡은 수소의 피와 숫염소의 피를 받아다가, 제단 뿔에 돌아가면서 발라야 한다.	And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the Lord, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.
19	그리고 그는 그 피를 자기 손가락으로 찍어 제단 위에 일곱 번 뿌려서, 부정하게 된 이스라엘 자손 때문에 같이 부정하게 된 제단을 정하게 하고, 거룩하게 하여야 한다.	And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.
20	이렇게 하여, 아론은 성소와 회막과 제단을 성결하게 하는 예식을 마치게 된다. 다음에 아론은 살려 둔 숫염소를 끌고 와서,	And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat:
21	살아 있는 그 숫염소의 머리 위에 두 손을 얹고, 이스라엘 자손이 저지른 온갖 악행과 온갖 반역 행위와 온갖 죄를 다 자백하고 나서, 그 모든 죄를 그 숫염소의 머리에 씌운다. 그런 다음에, 기다리고 있는 사람의 손에 맡겨, 그 숫염소를 빈 들로 내보내야 한다.	And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:
22	그 숫염소는 이스라엘 자손의 온갖 죄를 짊어지고 황무지로 나간다. 이렇게 아론은 그 숫염소를 빈 들로 내보낸다.	And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.
23	그런 다음에, 아론은 회막으로 들어간다. 그 때에, 그는 성소에 들어갈 때에 입은 모시 옷은 벗어서 거기 놓아 두고,	And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there:
24	성소 안에서 물로 목욕하고 난 다음에, 다시 그 옷을 입고 바깥으로 나가서, 자기의 번제물과 백성의 번제물을 바쳐, 자신과 백성의 죄를 속하여야 한다.	And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the people, and make an atonement for himself, and for the people.
25	속죄제물로 바친 기름기는 제단 위에다 놓고 불살라야 한다.	And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar.
26	염소를 아사셀에게로 보낸 그 사람도, 자기 옷을 빨고 물로 목욕을 하여야 한다. 그는 그렇게 한 다음에야, 진 안으로 들어올 수 있다.	And he that let go the goat for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp.
27	속죄제물로 희생된 수소와 숫염소의 피를 가져다가, 성소에서 죄를 속하는 예식을 마친 다음에는, 그것들을 진 바깥으로 끌어내고, 그 가죽과 살코기와 똥을 불에 태워야 한다.	And the bullock for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.
28	이것들을 태운 사람도 자기 옷을 빨고 물로 목욕을 하여야 한다. 그는 그렇게 한 다음에야, 진 안으로 들어올 수 있다.	And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
29	다음은 너희가 길이 지켜야 할 규례이다. 일곱째 달, 그 달 십일은 너희가 스스로 고행을 하는 날이니, 아무 일도 하여서는 안 된다. 이것은, 이스라엘 사람이거나 너희와 함께 사는 외국 사람이거나, 다 지켜야 한다.	And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you:
30	이 날은 너희의 죄를 속하는 날, 너희가 깨끗하게 되는 날이기 때문이다. 너희가 지은 온갖 죄가 주 앞에서 씻기는 날이다.	For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the Lord.
31	이 날은 너희가 엄격하게 지켜야 할 안식일이다. 너희가 스스로 고행을 하는 날이다. 이것은 너희가 길이 지킬 규례이다.	It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.
32	기름부음을 받고 임명받은 제사장, 곧 그의 아버지를 대신하여 제사장으로 거룩하게 구별된 제사장이 속죄예식을 맡는다. 그는 모시로 만든 거룩한 예복을 입는다.	And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest’s office in his father’s stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:
33	그는 지성소를 성결하게 하여야 하며, 회막과 제단을 성결하게 하여야 하고, 제사장들과 회중 곧 모든 백성의 죄를 속하여야 한다.	And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.
34	위에서 말한 것은 너희가 이스라엘 자손의 모든 죄를 속하려 할 때에, 한 해에 한 번씩 길이 지켜야 할 규례다.” 이렇게 모세는 주님께서 분부하신 대로 아론에게 일러주었다.	And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the Lord commanded Moses.
