Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;
2 나는 거짓이 없으신 하나님께서 영원 전부터 약속해 두신 영생에 대한 소망을 품고 있습니다. In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
3 하나님께서는 제 때가 되었을 때에 하나님의 이 약속의 말씀을 사도들의 선포를 통하여 드러내셨습니다. 나는 우리의 구주이신 하나님의 명령을 따라 이것을 선포하는 임무를 맡았습니다. But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;
To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
7 감독은 하나님의 청지기로서, 흠잡을 데가 없으며, 자기 고집대로 하지 아니하며, 쉽게 성내지 아니하며, 술을 즐기지 아니하며, 폭행하지 아니하며, 부정한 이득을 탐하지 아니하는 사람이라야 합니다. For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
8 오히려 그는 손님을 잘 대접하며, 선행을 좋아하며, 신중하며, 의로우며, 경건하며, 자제력이 있으며, But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:
Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.
One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.
13 이 증언은 참말입니다. 그러므로 그들을 엄중히 책망하여, 그들의 믿음을 건전하게 하고, This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
