| 1 | Job jatkoi lausuen julki mietelmiään ja sanoi: | Moreover Job continued his parable, and said, |
| 2 | "Niin totta kuin Jumala elää, joka on ottanut minulta oikeuteni, ja Kaikkivaltias, joka on sieluni murehuttanut: | As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul; |
| 3 | niin kauan kuin minussa vielä henkeä on ja Jumalan henkäystä sieramissani, | All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils; |
| 4 | eivät minun huuleni puhu petosta, eikä kieleni vilppiä lausu. | My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit. |
| 5 | Pois se! En myönnä teidän oikeassa olevan. Siihen asti kunnes henkeni heitän, en luovu hurskaudestani. | God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me. |
| 6 | Minä pidän kiinni vanhurskaudestani, en hellitä; yhdestäkään elämäni päivästä omatuntoni ei minua soimaa. | My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live. |
| 7 | Käyköön viholliseni niinkuin jumalattoman ja vastustajani niinkuin väärän. | Let mine enemy be as the wicked, and he that riseth up against me as the unrighteous. |
| 8 | Mitä toivoa on riettaalla, kun Jumala katkaisee hänen elämänsä, kun hän tempaa pois hänen sielunsa? | For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul? |
| 9 | Kuuleeko Jumala hänen huutonsa, kun ahdistus häntä kohtaa? | Will God hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him? |
| 10 | Tahi saattaako hän iloita Kaikkivaltiaasta, huutaa Jumalaa joka aika? | Will he delight himself in the Almighty? will he always call upon God? |
| 11 | Minä opetan teille, mitä tekee Jumalan käsi; en salaa, mitä Kaikkivaltiaalla on mielessä. | I will teach you by the hand of God: that which is with the Almighty will I not conceal. |
| 12 | Katso, itse olette kaikki sen nähneet; miksi te turhia kuvittelette? | Behold, all ye yourselves have seen it; why then are ye thus altogether vain? |
| 13 | Tämä on jumalattoman ihmisen osa, Jumalan varaama, tämä on perintöosa, jonka väkivaltaiset Kaikkivaltiaalta saavat. | This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty. |

| 17 | kasatkoon: vanhurskas pukee ne päällensä, ja viaton perii hopean. | He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver. |
| 18 | Hän rakentaa talonsa niinkuin kointoukka, se on kuin suojus, jonka vartija kyhää. | He buildeth his house as a moth, and as a booth that the keeper maketh. |
| 19 | Rikkaana hän menee levolle: 'Ei häviä mitään'; hän avaa silmänsä, ja kaikki on mennyttä. | The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he openeth his eyes, and he is not. |
| 20 | Kauhut yllättävät hänet kuin tulvavedet, yöllä tempaa hänet mukaansa rajuilma. | Terrors take hold on him as waters, a tempest stealeth him away in the night. |
| 21 | Itätuuli vie hänet, niin että hän menee menojaan, ja puhaltaa hänet pois paikaltansa. | The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth: and as a storm hurleth him out of his place. |
| 22 | Jumala ampuu häneen nuolensa säälimättä; hänen täytyy paeta hänen kättänsä, minkä voi. | For God shall cast upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand. |
