Paweł, więzień Chrystusa Jezusa, i Tymoteusz, brat, do umiłowanego Filemona, naszego współpracownika; Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,
And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellowsoldier, and to the church in thy house:
Łaska wam i pokój od Boga, naszego Ojca, i Pana Jezusa Chrystusa. Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Dziękuję mojemu Bogu, zawsze wzmiankę czyniąc o tobie w moich modlitwach; I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,
Słysząc o twojej miłości i wierze, którą masz względem Pana Jezusa i względem wszystkich świętych; Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;
That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
Mamy bowiem wielką radość i pociechę z powodu twojej miłości, bracie, gdyż przez ciebie serca świętych zostały pokrzepione. For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.
Dlatego, chociaż mogę śmiało w Chrystusie nakazać ci, co należy czynić; Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,
To jednak ze względu na miłość raczej proszę, będąc tym, kim jestem – Pawłem, starcem, a teraz i więźniem Jezusa Chrystusa; Yet for love’s sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
Proszę cię za moim synem, Onezymem, którego zrodziłem w moich więzach; I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:
Który niegdyś był dla ciebie nieużyteczny, ale teraz dla ciebie i dla mnie jest bardzo użyteczny. Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:
Jego odsyłam, przyjmij go więc jak moje serce. Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:
Zamierzałem go przy sobie zatrzymać, aby zamiast ciebie posługiwał mi w więzach ewangelii. Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:
Lecz bez twojej zgody nie chciałem nic czynić, aby twój dobry uczynek nie był jakby z przymusu, ale z własnej woli. But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.
Może bowiem dlatego oddalił się na chwilę od ciebie, abyś go odzyskał na zawsze; For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;
Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?
Jeżeli więc masz mnie za przyjaciela, przyjmij go jak mnie. If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.
A jeśli wyrządził ci jakąś szkodę albo jest ci coś winien, policz to na mój rachunek. If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account;
I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.
Tak, bracie, niech ja dzięki tobie doznam radości w Panu, pokrzep moje serce w Panu. Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.
Napisałem ci, będąc pewny twego posłuszeństwa, wiedząc, że uczynisz nawet więcej, niż mówię. Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.
A zarazem przygotuj mi też gościnę; mam bowiem ufność, że dzięki waszym modlitwom będę wam oddany. But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.
Pozdrawiają cię Epafras, mój współwięzień w Chrystusie Jezusie; There salute thee Epaphras, my fellowprisoner in Christ Jesus;
Marek, Arystarch, Demas, Łukasz – moi współpracownicy. Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers.
Łaska naszego Pana Jezusa Chrystusa niech będzie z waszym duchem. Amen. List do Filemona napisany z Rzymu przez Onezyma, sługę. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. Written from Rome to Philemon, by Onesimus a servant.
