| 1 | A postanowiłem to sobie, aby nie przychodzić do was znowu w smutku. | But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness. |
| 2 | Jeśli bowiem ja was zasmucam, to któż może mnie rozweselić, jeśli nie ten, którego ja zasmucam? | For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me? |
| 3 | A to wam napisałem, abym, gdy przyjdę, nie doznał smutku od tych, od których powinienem doznawać radości, będąc pewien co do was wszystkich, że moja radość jest także waszą radością. | And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all. |
| 4 | Gdyż w wielkim ucisku i utrapieniu serca, wśród wielu łez pisałem do was nie po to, abyście się smucili, ale żebyście poznali, jak wielka jest moja miłość do was. | For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you. |
| 5 | Jeśli więc ktoś spowodował smutek, to nie mnie zasmucił, ale po części – by nie obciążyć – was wszystkich. | But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all. |
| 6 | Takiemu wystarczy kara wymierzona przez wielu z was. | Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many. |
| 7 | Tak więc przeciwnie, powinniście mu raczej przebaczyć i pocieszyć go, aby przypadkiem zbytni smutek go nie pochłonął. | So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow. |
| 8 | Dlatego proszę was, abyście potwierdzili swą miłość do niego. | Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him. |
| 9 | Po to też pisałem, aby was wypróbować i się przekonać, czy we wszystkim jesteście posłuszni. | For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things. |
| 10 | A komu wy coś przebaczacie, temu i ja, gdyż i ja, jeśli coś przebaczyłem temu, któremu przebaczyłem, zrobiłem to ze względu na was wobec Chrystusa; | To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; |
| 11 | Aby nas szatan nie podszedł; jego zamysły bowiem nie są nam nieznane. | Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. |
| 12 | Gdy zaś przybyłem do Troady, aby głosić ewangelię Chrystusa, a drzwi zostały mi otwarte w Panu; | Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord, |
| 13 | Nie zaznałem spokoju ducha, bo nie znalazłem Tytusa, mego brata. Rozstawszy się więc z nimi, wyruszyłem do Macedonii. | I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia. |
| 14 | Lecz dzięki Bogu, który nam zawsze daje zwycięstwo w Chrystusie i roznosi przez nas woń swojego poznania w każdym miejscu. | Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. |
| 15 | Jesteśmy bowiem dla Boga przyjemną wonią Chrystusa wśród tych, którzy są zbawieni, i wśród tych, którzy giną. | For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: |
| 16 | Dla jednych wonią śmierci ku śmierci, a dla drugich wonią życia ku życiu. Lecz do tego któż jest zdatny? | To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? |
| 17 | Nie jesteśmy bowiem jak wielu, którzy fałszują słowo Boże, lecz ze szczerości, jak od Boga mówimy w Chrystusie przed obliczem Boga. | For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. |
