1	A ja sam, Paweł, proszę was przez łagodność i życzliwość Chrystusa, ja, który, gdy jestem obecny wśród was, jestem pokorny w waszych oczach, lecz gdy jestem nieobecny, jestem śmiały wobec was.	Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:
2	A proszę, żebym będąc obecny, nie musiał być śmiały tą pewnością siebie, którą zamierzam być śmiały wobec niektórych, którzy sądzą, że postępujemy według ciała.	But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.
3	Chociaż bowiem w ciele żyjemy, nie walczymy według ciała;	For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4	(Gdyż oręż naszej walki nie jest cielesny, ale z Boga, i ma moc burzenia twierdz warownych);	(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5	Obalamy rozumowania i wszelką wyniosłość, która powstaje przeciwko poznaniu Boga, i zniewalamy wszelką myśl do posłuszeństwa Chrystusowi;	Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
6	Gotowi do ukarania wszelkiego nieposłuszeństwa, kiedy wasze posłuszeństwo będzie całkowite.	And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
7	Czy patrzycie tylko na to, co jest przed oczami? Jeśli ktoś jest przekonany, że należy do Chrystusa, to niech też weźmie pod uwagę, że jak on należy do Chrystusa, tak do Chrystusa należymy i my.	Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ’s, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ’s, even so are we Christ’s.
8	Choćbym się bowiem jeszcze bardziej chełpił z naszej władzy, którą dał nam Pan ku zbudowaniu, a nie ku waszej zgubie, nie będę zawstydzony;	For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:
9	Aby się nie wydawało, że chcę was straszyć listami.	That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.
10	Mówią bowiem: Listy ważkie są i mocne, ale gdy się zjawia osobiście, jest słaby, a jego mowa godna pogardy.	For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.
11	Kto tak sądzi, niech wie, że jakimi jesteśmy w słowach listów, będąc nieobecni, takimi też będziemy w czynie, gdy będziemy obecni.	Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.
12	Nie śmiemy bowiem zaliczać siebie do niektórych ani porównywać się z niektórymi, którzy polecają sami siebie. Nie mają bowiem rozumu, gdyż mierzą się własną miarą i porównują się sami ze sobą.	For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
13	Lecz my nie będziemy się chlubili ponad miarę, ale według miary zasad, które Bóg nam wymierzył, miary, która sięgnęła aż do was.	But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.
14	Nie przekraczamy bowiem ponad miarę samych siebie, jakbyśmy nie dotarli aż do was, bo przyszliśmy aż i do was z ewangelią Chrystusa.	For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:
15	I nie chlubimy się ponad miarę z pracy innych, ale mamy nadzieję, że gdy wzrośnie w was wasza wiara, i my wzrośniemy obficie wśród was zgodnie z naszymi zasadami;	Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men’s labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,
16	Żeby głosić ewangelię poza waszymi granicami, nie chlubiąc się na cudzym obszarze tym, czego już inni dokonali.	To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man’s line of things made ready to our hand.
17	Kto więc się chlubi, w Panu niech się chlubi.	But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
18	Nie ten bowiem, kto sam siebie poleca, jest wypróbowany, lecz ten, kogo poleca Pan.	For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
