RI ai ko, me sota mau, ma komail me toto inong iong saunpadakala, pwe komail asa, me kitail pan lel ong kadeik laud. | My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
Pwe pan pak toto kitail kin sapung, a ma amen sota kin sapungki lokaia kis, nan i ol melel amen, o a kak koaki pali war a pokon. | For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
Kilang, kitail kin ki ong nan au en os kisin mata, pwe ren peiki ong kitail, o kitail kin kawuk sili war arail pokon. | Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
Kilang, pil sop akan! Irail me kalaimun o ang kin ipir wei, ari so, men ilil tikitik kak kawuki ong wasa, me kaptin kin inong iong ia. | Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
Iduen lo me kokon tikitik eu, a a suaisuai lapalap. Kilang, duen kisiniai tikitik kin isikada nana kalaimun! | Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
| And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
Pwe song en man laualo karos, o manpir, o me karop, o man akan, me kin memaur nan sed, kin kamandala o kaloedi ren aramas akan. | For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
A lo o sota aramas amen me kak kaloedi, nan me sued kot, me dir en men kamela. | But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
I me kitail kapingaki Kaun o Sam, o kitail kariaki i aramas akan, me wiauier ni mom en Kot. | Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
Ri ai ko, me sota pung, mepukat en wiaui due. | Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
| Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
Ri ai ko, pik pot pil kak wa wan le, de wain pan kak wan pik? Pil dueta parer sol eu sota kak kida pil. | Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
Is me lolekong re omail, o erekila padak? | Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
A ma peirin o akamai mier nan mongiong omail, komail der suaiki palian melel o der kalikame me melel. | But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
Pwe lolekong wet, me sota tapi sang poa a udan pa et, pali uduk, pali tewil. | This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
Pwe wasa peirin o akamai mia, nan i wasan saminimin o dodok sued karos kin wiauiaui ia. | For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
A lolekong, me tapi sang ni pali poa, mas a kin makelekel, ap pil kaminimin, o kampai, o matarok, o dir en kadek, o wa mau, o so peikasal, o so malaun. | But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
A wan pung pan kamoremoredi ni popol ren ir, me kin tom pena. | And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
