1	(예언자) 에브라임은 바람을 먹고, 동풍을 뒤쫓습니다. 날마다 거짓과 폭력이 많아지게 합니다. 아시리아와 조약을 맺고, 기름을 이집트로 보내도록 합니다.	Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.
2	유다와 다투실 일이 여호와께 있습니다. 여호와께서 야곱에게 그의 생활 방식에 대해 책임을 물으시고, 그의 행동에 걸맞게 그에게 되돌려주실 것입니다.	The Lord hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.
3	어머니 뱃속에서 야곱은 형의 발뒤꿈치를 잡았습니다. 자기 몸의 힘이 한창일 때는 하나님과 승부를 겨루었습니다.	He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:
4	야곱은 천사와 승부를 겨루어 이겼습니다. 울면서 천사에게 불쌍히 여겨 달라고 빌었습니다. 베델에서 야곱을 만나 주셨고, 거기에서 우리와 말씀을 나누셨습니다.	Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Beth–el, and there he spake with us;
5	여호와는 전능하신 하나님이십니다! 그 하나님을 기억하며 부를 이름이 여호와입니다!	Even the Lord God of hosts; the Lord is his memorial.
6	그대는 그대의 하나님께로 돌아오세요. 한결같은 사랑과 정의를 지키세요. 언제나 그대의 하나님을 애타게 기다리세요.	Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.
7	(하나님) “그는 상인이다. 그의 손에는 속이는 저울이 있고 빼앗기를 좋아한다.	He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.
8	에브라임이 말했다. ‘나는 정말로 부자야. 나 스스로 재산을 일구었어. 내가 힘들여 이룬 것에서 죄가 될 어떤 잘못도 발견되지 않을 거야.’	And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.
9	그러나 나는 여호와 너의 하나님이다. 이집트 땅에서부터 그렇다. 내가 다시 너를 천막에 살게 해 주겠다, 명절에 그랬던 것처럼!	And I that am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.
10	내가 예언자들에게 말해 주었다. 내가 직접 환상도 많이 보여 주었다. 예언자들을 시켜 여러 가지 비유를 들어 일러 주었다.”	I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.
11	(예언자) 길르앗이 불의한가요? 그들이 참으로 쓸모없게 되었습니다. 길갈에서는 소들을 희생제물로 바쳤습니다. 그들의 제단들 또한 밭고랑에 널린 돌무더기 같습니다.	Is there iniquity in Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.
12	야곱이 시리아 들판으로 달아났습니다. 이스라엘이 종처럼 일했습니다, 아내를 얻으려고요. 또 아내를 얻으려고 집짐승을 지켰습니다.	And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.
13	한 예언자를 통해 여호와께서 이스라엘을 이집트에서부터 데리고 올라오셨습니다. 한 예언자를 통해 이스라엘을 지켜 주셨습니다.	And by a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.
14	에브라임이 여호와를 몹시 노엽게 했습니다. 그래서 그가 남의 피를 쏟은 죗값을 여호와께서 그에게 치르게 하실 것입니다. 그가 주님을 모욕한 그대로 주님이 그에게 되돌려주실 것입니다.	Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him.
