1	지혜를 얻어라 들어 봐라, 얘들아, 아버지의 훈계를. 주의 깊게 듣고서 깨달음을 얻어 봐라.	Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
2	내가 너희에게 훌륭한 가르침을 베풀어 줄 테니, 나의 가르침을 떠나지 마라.	For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
3	나도 아버지한테 아들이었고, 어머니한테 하나뿐인 여린 아들이었지.	For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
4	아버지가 나를 가르치며 말씀하셨어. “너의 마음으로 나의 말을 붙들고 나의 명령을 지키려무나. 그러면 살아남을 거야.	He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
5	지혜를 얻어라. 깨달음을 얻어라. 나의 입으로 한 말을 잊지 말고 떠나지 마라.	Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6	지혜를 버리지 마라, 너를 지켜 주도록. 지혜를 사랑해라, 너를 보살펴 주도록.	Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
7	지혜가 시작이지. 지혜를 얻어라. 네가 가진 것을 다 털어서 깨달음을 손에 넣어라.	Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
8	지혜를 떠받들면 지혜가 너를 높일 거야. 지혜가 너를 받들어 줄 거야, 네가 지혜를 품에 안는다면.	Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
9	지혜가 너의 머리에 아름다운 장식을 둘러 줄 거야. 너에게 씌워 줄 거야, 영광스러운 왕관을.”	She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
10	지혜의 길을 따라가고 악인들의 길을 피해라 들어 봐라, 얘야, 내 말을 잘 들어라. 그러면 너는 오래오래 살 거야.	Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
11	지혜의 길을 내가 너에게 가르쳐 주었지. 네가 올곧은 길을 따라가게 해 주었지.	I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
12	네가 걸어갈 때 발목을 잡는 사람이 없을 거고, 네가 달려갈 때 발이 걸리지 않을 거야.	When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
13	훈계를 움켜쥐어라. 놓지 마라. 그것을 지켜라. 그것이야말로 너의 생명이거든.	Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
14	악인들의 길로는 들어서지 말고, 나쁜 사람들의 길로는 나아가지 마라.	Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
15	거기서 피해라. 거기로 지나가지 마라. 거기를 벗어나서 지나가라.	Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
16	그들은 잠들지 못하지, 나쁜 짓을 하지 않고서는. 잠을 이루지 못하지, 남을 걸어 넘어뜨리지 않고서는.	For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
17	밥 먹듯 불의를 저지르고, 술 마시듯 폭력을 쓰는 거야.	For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
18	의인들의 길은 반짝이는 빛과 같아서, 점점 밝아지다가 드디어 한낮이 되는 거야.	But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
19	악인들의 길은 캄캄함과 같아서, 자신들이 무엇에 걸려 넘어지는지도 모르는 거야.	The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
20	지혜의 말을 주의 깊게 들어라 얘야, 내 말을 주의 깊게 들어라. 내가 하는 말에 귀를 기울여라.	My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21	눈에서 놓치면 안 돼. 너의 마음속에 간직해라.	Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22	이 말은 찾는 사람들에게 생명을 얻게 하고, 사람의 온몸을 치료해 주지.	For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
23	보호해야 할 온갖 것보다 너의 마음을 지켜라. 바로 거기서 생명이 나오니까.	Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
24	입에서 나오는 그릇된 말은 치워 버리고, 입술에서 나오는 비뚤어진 말은 멀리해라.	Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
25	눈으로는 앞을 바라보고, 시선은 똑바로 앞에 두는 거야.	Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
26	발로 걸을 길을 잘 살펴서, 네가 가는 모든 길을 탄탄하게 해라.	Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
27	오른쪽으로도 왼쪽으로도 기울어지지 마라. 나쁜 짓에서 발을 끊어라.	Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
