1	르무엘 임금 어머니의 가르침 르무엘 임금의 여러 말씀. 그의 어머니가 그를 가르쳤던 무거운 말씀.	The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
2	무엇을 말해 줄까, 아들아? 무엇을, 내 뱃속에서 나온 아들아? 또 무엇을, 내가 단단히 약속드려 얻은 아들아?	What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
3	여자들에게 너의 힘을 쓰지 말고, 임금들을 쓸어버리려고 너의 길을 가지 마라.	Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
4	임금들에게는 맞지 않아, 르무엘아, 임금들에게는 맞지 않아, 포도주를 마시는 것은. 높은 사람들에게도 맞지 않아, 맥주를 마시는 것은.	It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
5	마시다가 법령을 잊어버리지 않도록 해야 하고, 온갖 불쌍한 사람들의 판결을 뒤바꾸지 않도록 해야 하거든.	Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
6	맥주는 망해 가는 사람한테 주고, 포도주는 마음 쓰라린 사람한테 주어라.	Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
7	그가 마시고 자기의 빈곤함을 잊을 거야. 자기의 어려움을 더는 기억하지 않을 거야.	Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
8	너의 입을 열어서, 말하지 못하는 사람을 위해 말해라! 스러져 가는 모든 사람들의 억울함을 풀어 주어라!	Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
9	네 입을 열어서 공의롭게 판가름하고, 불쌍한 사람과 가난한 사람의 억울함을 풀어 주어라.	Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
10	훌륭한 여자 훌륭한 여자를 누가 찾아낼까? 그 여자는 진주보다도 훨씬 더 소중하지.	Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11	남편은 마음속으로 그를 신뢰하지. 그가 벌어들이는 것이 남편에게는 모자라지 않아.	The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12	그는 남편에게 좋은 일만 하고 나쁜 일은 하지 않지. 살아가는 동안 한평생 그러는 거야.	She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13	양털과 삼을 찾아다녀 얻은 다음, 자기 손으로 신나게 일하지.	She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14	그는 무역선 같아서, 멀리서 먹을거리를 가져오지.	She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15	아직 밤인데 일어나서 집안사람들 먹을 것을 마련하고, 집안일하는 여자아이들에게 할 일을 나눠 맡기지.	She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16	밭을 눈여겨봐 두었다가 사들이고, 손수 벌어들인 것으로 포도밭을 일구기도 하지.	She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17	힘 있게 허리를 동이고, 두 팔에 힘주고 일하지.	She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18	벌이가 쏠쏠하다는 것을 맛보고는, 밤에도 등불을 끄지 않지.	She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19	손을 뻗어 실뭉치를 잡고, 손바닥으로 물렛가락을 붙들지.	She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20	손바닥을 불쌍한 사람에게 펴고, 손을 가난한 사람에게 뻗지.	She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21	눈이 와도 집안에 걱정이 없어. 집안사람들이 모두들 멋진 진홍색 옷을 입고 있으니까.	She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22	자기가 쓸 깔개를 만들고, 자기 입는 옷은 리넨과 붉은 보라색 천으로 짜지.	She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23	남편은 성문에서 떠받들리고, 지역 원로들과 함께 앉아 있지.	Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24	여자는 리넨 셔츠를 지어서 팔고, 띠를 만들어 장사꾼들에게 넘기지.	She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25	힘과 존엄함이 그의 옷이고, 그는 웃으며 앞날로 나아가지.	Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26	입을 열어 지혜롭게 말하고, 한결같은 사랑의 가르침이 그 혀에 있지.	She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27	집안일 돌아가는 것을 살피고, 게으름 부리며 얻은 빵은 먹지 않지.	She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28	자식들이 일어나 어머니를 두고서 행복하신 분이라 기리고, 남편도 아내를 칭송하지.	Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29	“훌륭하게 해내는 여자들이 많지만, 그 어느 누구보다도 그대가 뛰어나요.”	Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30	우아함도 거짓되고 아름다움도 덧없지만, 여호와를 두려워하는 여자는 칭송받을 거야.	Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
31	그가 손수 벌어들인 것은 그에게 돌려주어라. 그가 해낸 일들을 두고 성문에서 그를 칭송해야 마땅하지.	Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
