절	새한글성경 (2024)	King James Version
1	부드러운 대답은 노여움을 가라앉히지만, 거친 말은 화를 치밀게 하지.	A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
2	지혜로운 사람의 혀는 앎을 잘 다루지만, 어리석은 사람들의 입은 미련함을 쏟아 내지.	The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.
3	어느 곳에나 여호와의 눈이 있어서, 나쁜 사람들과 좋은 사람들을 지켜보고 있지.	The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
4	고쳐 주는 혀는 생명나무이지만, 비뚤어진 혀는 마음을 아프게 하지.	A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
5	미련한 사람은 자기 아버지의 훈계를 물리치지만, 경고를 따르는 사람은 영리한 사람이야.	A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.
6	의인의 집에는 모아 둔 것이 많지만, 악인이 거두어들인 것에는 괴로움이 있지.	In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.
7	지혜로운 사람들의 입술은 앎을 퍼뜨리지만, 어리석은 사람들의 마음은 그렇지 않지.	The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.
8	악인들의 제물은 여호와께서 역겨워하시지만, 올곧은 사람들의 기도는 마음에 들어 하시지.	The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
9	여호와께서 역겨워하시는 것은 악인의 길이지만, 공의를 따르는 사람은 사랑하시지.	The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the Lord: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
10	길을 저버리는 사람은 쓰라린 교훈을 얻고, 꾸지람을 싫어하는 사람은 죽음을 맞을 거야.	Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.
11	스올(죽은 사람들의 나라)과 멸망의 나라도 여호와 앞에 드러나 있는데, 사람의 마음은 얼마나 더 그럴까!	Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?
12	비웃는 사람은 꾸지람 듣는 것을 좋아하지 않고, 지혜로운 사람들에게 가지도 않아.	A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.
13	마음이 기쁘면 얼굴이 좋지만, 마음이 괴로우면 기운이 떨어지지.	A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
14	깨달은 사람의 마음은 앎을 찾지만, 어리석은 사람들의 입은 미련함을 먹으며 살지.	The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.
15	힘겹게 사는 사람은 하루하루가 괴롭지만, 마음이 착한 사람은 늘 잔칫집 분위기야.	All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
16	조금밖에 없어도 여호와를 두려워하는 것이 낫지, 모아 둔 게 많은데도 혼란스러운 것보다는.	Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith.
17	나물 반찬 먹어도 사랑 있는 것이 낫지, 살찌운 소 잡아먹으며 미워하는 것보다는.	Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
18	노여워하는 사람은 말싸움을 부추기지만, 참을성 많은 사람은 다툼을 가라앉히지.	A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
19	게으른 사람의 길은 가시울타리 같지만, 올곧은 사람들의 길은 잘 닦여 있지.	The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.
20	지혜로운 아들은 아버지를 기쁘게 하지만, 어리석은 사람은 자기 어머니를 가볍게 여기지.	A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
21	얼빠진 사람은 미련함을 기뻐하지만, 깨우친 사람은 똑바로 걷지.	Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.
22	의견을 주고받지 않고 세운 계획은 흐지부지되지만, 조언하는 사람이 많으면 계획이 이루어지지.	Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
23	입을 열어 대답하는 사람에게는 기쁨이 있고, 제때에 하는 말은 얼마나 좋은가!	A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!
24	생명의 길은 슬기로운 사람들을 위해 위쪽으로 나 있어서, 아래쪽 스올(죽은 사람들의 나라)에서 벗어나게 하지.	The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.
25	우쭐거리는 사람들의 집은 여호와께서 허물어 버리시지만, 남편 여읜 여자의 울타리는 세워 주시지.	The Lord will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.
26	나쁜 사람이 내는 꾀는 여호와께서 역겨워하시지만, 기분 좋은 말은 그분 앞에서 깨끗하지.	The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.
27	이익을 노리는 사람은 자기 집안을 괴롭히지만, 뇌물을 싫어하는 사람은 살아남지.	He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.
28	의인은 속으로 중얼거리며 깊이 생각하여 대답하지만, 악인들은 입으로 나쁜 말을 쏟아 내지.	The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
29	여호와께서는 악인들한테서 멀찍이 계시지만, 의인들의 기도는 들으시지.	The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
30	반짝이는 눈빛은 마음을 기쁘게 하고, 좋은 소식은 뼈에 기름이 돌게 하지.	The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.
31	생명에 이르도록 하는 꾸지람을 듣는 귀는, 지혜로운 사람들 가운데 머물러 있을 거야.	The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.
32	훈계를 못 들은 체하는 사람은 자신을 저버리는 사람이지만, 꾸지람을 듣는 사람은 정신을 차린 사람이지.	He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.
33	여호와를 두려워하는 것은 지혜의 훈계이고, 겸손하면 명예가 따르지.	The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.
