절	새한글성경 (2024)	King James Version
1	제자들의 발을 씻어 주시다 넘는명절(유월절)을 앞둔 날이었다. 예수님은 자신의 때가 와서, 이 세상에서 아버지한테로 옮겨 가야 하는 것을 아셨다. 예수님은 이 세상에 있는 자신의 사람들을 사랑하시되 끝까지 그들을 사랑하셨다.	Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
2	저녁을 먹고 있을 때였다. 예수님을 넘겨줄 생각을 마귀가 벌써 유다의 마음에 넣어 둔 상태였다. 그는 가룟 사람인 시몬의 아들이었다.	And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him;
3	예수님은 모든 것을 아버지께서 자기 손에 주셨다는 것과 자기가 하나님께로부터 왔다가 이제 하나님께로 간다는 것을 아셨다.	Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
4	그래서 예수님은 식사 자리에서 일어나 겉옷을 벗어 두신다. 그리고 수건을 집어 몸에 둘러 묶으셨다.	He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
5	그러고 나서 물을 대야에 부으신다. 그리고 제자들의 발을 씻어 주시고, 또 둘러 묶으셨던 수건으로 닦아 주기 시작하셨다.	After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
6	이제 예수님이 시몬 베드로한테 오신다. 베드로가 예수님께 말씀드린다. “주님, 주님께서 저의 발을 씻어 주시려는 겁니까?”	Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
7	예수님이 대답하셨다. “내가 하는 일을 그대가 아직은 알지 못합니다. 그러나 이다음에는 깨달아 알게 될 겁니다.”	Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
8	예수님께 베드로가 말씀드린다. “저의 발을 영원히 절대로 씻어 주지 마십시오!” 예수님이 대답하셨다. “내가 그대를 씻어 주지 않으면, 그대에게는 나와 함께할 몫이 없어요.”	Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
9	그러자 시몬 베드로가 말씀드린다. “주님, 제 발뿐만 아니라 손과 머리도 씻어 주십시오!”	Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
10	예수님이 말씀하신다. “목욕을 한 사람은 발 말고는 씻을 필요가 없어요. 그 사람은 몸 전체가 깨끗합니다. 그리고 그대들이야말로 깨끗해요. 그러나 모두가 그렇지는 않아요!”	Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
11	예수님은 자기를 넘겨줄 사람을 알고 계셨던 것이다. 이 때문에 “그대들 모두가 깨끗하지는 않다.” 하고 말씀하신 것이다.	For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.
12	예수님이 제자들의 발을 씻어 주셨다. 그러고 나서 겉옷을 입고 다시 자리에 기대앉으셨다. 그때 제자들에게 말씀하셨다. “내가 그대들에게 무슨 일을 해 주었는지 알고 있나요?	So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
13	그대들은 나를 ‘선생님!’ ‘주님!’ 하고 부릅니다. 잘하는 일이에요. 내가 사실 그러니까요.	Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
14	그러므로 ‘주’이고 ‘선생’인 내가 직접 그대들의 발을 씻어 주었으니, 그대들도 또한 서로서로 발을 씻어 주어야 해요.	If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.
15	본보기를 그대들에게 보여 주어, 내가 그대들에게 한 것처럼 그대들도 하도록 하려 한 겁니다.	For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
16	아멘 아멘 그대들에게 말합니다. 종이 자기 주인보다 크지 않고, 또한 보냄을 받은 사람이 자기를 보낸 사람보다 크지 않아요.	Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
17	이런 것들을 그대들이 알고 있어요. 그것들을 실행하기까지 하면 그대들이 복 있습니다.	If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
18	그대들 모두를 두고 하는 말은 아닙니다. 내가 누구를 선택했는지 나 자신은 알고 있어요. 그러나 성경 말씀이 이루어져야 합니다. ‘내 양식을 나누어 먹던 그 사람이 내게 맞서 발꿈치를 들이댑니다.’라고 한 말씀이요.	I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.
19	일이 일어나기 전에 지금부터 미리 그대들에게 말합니다. 일이 일어났을 때 바로 내가 나라는 것을 믿게 하려는 겁니다.	Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.
20	아멘 아멘 그대들에게 말합니다. 내가 누구를 보내든 그를 맞아들이는 사람은 나를 맞아들이는 겁니다. 나를 맞아들이는 사람은 나를 보내신 분을 맞아들이는 겁니다.” (; ; )	Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
21	가룟 사람 유다가 자신을 넘겨줄 것이라 하시다 이런 말씀을 하시고서 예수님은 마음이 괴로워서 증언하셨다. “아멘 아멘 그대들에게 말합니다. 그대들 가운데 하나가 나를 넘겨줄 겁니다.”	When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
22	제자들이 서로를 바라보며, 누구를 두고 하시는 말씀인지 어리둥절해했다.	Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.
23	제자들 가운데 하나가 예수님 바로 곁에 기대앉아 있었다. 예수님이 사랑하신 제자였다.	Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
24	그래서 이 제자에게 시몬 베드로가 고갯짓을 하여, 예수님이 누구를 두고 말씀하시는 것인지 알아보게 했다.	Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.
25	그래서 바로 그 제자가 예수님 쪽으로 더 가까이 다가가 말씀드린다. “주님, 그가 누구입니까?”	He then lying on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?
26	예수님이 답변하신다. “내가 직접 빵 조각을 적셔서 줄 사람이 바로 그 사람입니다.” 그러고는 빵 조각을 적셔서 집어 드신다. 그리고 가룟 사람 시몬의 아들 유다에게 주신다.	Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
27	유다가 빵 조각을 건네받자 그때에 유다 속으로 사탄이 들어갔다. 그러자 유다에게 예수님이 말씀하신다. “하려는 일을 빨리 하세요!”	And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.
28	기대앉아 먹는 사람들 가운데서 아무도 예수님이 무슨 일로 유다에게 그렇게 말씀하셨는지를 알지 못했다.	Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.
29	돈통을 유다가 맡고 있었으므로, 몇몇 사람들은 예수님이 그에게 이렇게 말씀하시는 것으로 생각했다. ‘우리가 명절을 지키는 데 필요한 것을 사세요!’ 또는 ‘가난한 사람들에게 뭘 좀 주세요!’	For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.
30	빵 조각을 받고서 그 사람이 곧바로 밖으로 나갔다. 이제 밤이었다.	He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.
31	새 계명을 주시다 유다가 나갔을 때 예수님이 말씀하신다. “이제 인자가 영광을 받았습니다. 하나님도 인자 안에서 영광을 받으셨습니다.	Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
32	하나님이 인자 안에서 영광을 받으셨다면, 하나님도 인자가 하나님 안에서 영광받게 하실 겁니다. 그것도 곧바로 인자가 영광받게 하실 겁니다.	If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.
33	자녀들이여! 아직은 조금 더 내가 그대들과 함께 있어요. 그러나 그대들이 나를 찾아 나설 겁니다. 유대아 사람들에게 말했던 것처럼, 이제 그대들에게도 말합니다. ‘내가 가는 곳에 그대들은 올 수 없어요.’	Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.
34	새 계명을 그대들에게 줍니다. 서로 사랑하세요! 내가 그대들을 사랑한 것처럼, 그대들 자신들도 서로 사랑하세요!	A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35	이것으로 그대들이 나의 제자라는 것을 모두가 알아차릴 겁니다. 곧 그대들 서로 사이에 사랑이 있다면요!” (; ; )	By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
36	베드로가 예수님을 저버릴 것이라고 하시다 예수님께 시몬 베드로가 말씀드린다. “주님, 어디로 가십니까?” 그에게 예수님이 대답하셨다. “내가 가는 곳으로 그대가 지금은 나를 따라올 수 없어요. 그러나 나중에는 따라올 겁니다.”	Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.
37	예수님께 베드로가 말씀드린다. “주님, 무엇 때문에 지금은 제가 주님을 따라갈 수 없습니까? 제 목숨이라도 주님을 위해 내놓겠습니다.”	Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.
38	예수님이 답변하신다. “그대 목숨을 나를 위해 내놓겠다고요? 아멘 아멘 그대에게 말합니다. 닭이 울기 전에 그대가 틀림없이 나를 세 번 저버릴 겁니다.”	Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.
