1	에페수스에 있는 교회에 보내는 편지 “너는 에페수스에 있는 교회의 심부름꾼에게 이렇게 써 보내라. ‘그 오른손에 일곱 개의 별을 붙잡고 계신 분, 일곱 개의 금등불받침대들 사이에 걸어 다니시는 분이 이것들을 말씀하십니다.	Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
2	「나는 네가 한 일들, 곧 너의 애씀과 견딤을 안다. 네가 악한 사람들을 참고 내버려둘 수 없다는 것도 안다. 자기들이 사도라고 말하지만 사실은 사도가 아닌 사람들을 너는 시험해 보았다. 그리고 그들이 거짓말쟁이들인 것을 밝혀냈다.	I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
3	너는 잘 견뎌 내고 있다. 너는 내 이름 때문에 당하는 어려움을 참아 냈고, 지쳐 쓰러진 적이 없었다.	And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.
4	그러나 너한테 거슬리는 일이 있는데, 네가 너의 처음 사랑을 내버린 것이다.	Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
5	그러므로 너는 네가 어떤 상태에 있다가 떨어져 나갔는지를 기억해 내서 회개해라. 그리고 처음에 하던 일들을 해라. 그렇지 않으면 내가 너에게 가서 너의 등불받침대를 그 있는 자리에서 옮길 것이다. 네가 회개하지 않는다면 말이다.	Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
6	그러나 이런 일은 네가 참 잘하는 것이다. 곧 니콜라우스당 사람들이 하는 짓들을 미워하는 것이다. 나도 역시 그것들을 미워한다.	But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
7	귀 있는 사람은 성령님이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들으라. 이기는 사람, 그 사람에게는 생명나무에서 나는 것을 먹도록 해 주겠다. 그 나무는 하나님의 낙원에 있다.」’”	He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
8	스미르나에 있는 교회에 보내는 편지 “또 너는 스미르나에 있는 교회의 심부름꾼에게 이렇게 써 보내라. ‘처음과 마지막이신 분, 죽었다가 살아나신 분이 이것들을 말씀하십니다.	And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
9	「나는 너의 큰 어려움과 가난을 안다. 그러나 너는 부유하다. 자기네가 유대아 사람이라고 말하는 사람들이 너를 헐뜯는 것도 안다. 그러나 그들은 유대아 사람이 아니라 사탄의 모임이다.	I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
10	네가 장차 겪게 될 일을 조금도 두려워하지 마라. 보아라, 마귀가 너희 가운데 몇 명을 장차 감옥에 던져 넣을 것이다. 너희가 유혹받게 하려는 것이다. 너희는 10일 동안 큰 어려움을 당할 것이다. 죽음에 이르기까지 믿음직한 사람으로 남아라. 그러면 내가 너에게 영원한 생명을 월계관으로 주겠다.	Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
11	귀 있는 사람은 성령님이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들으라. 이기는 사람은 두 번째 죽음의 해로움을 결코 당하지 않을 것이다.」’”	He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
12	페르가몬에 있는 교회에 보내는 편지 “또 너는 페르가몬에 있는 교회의 심부름꾼에게 이렇게 써 보내라. ‘양쪽으로 날이 선 날카로운 칼을 가지신 분이 이것들을 말씀하십니다.	And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;
13	「나는 네가 어디에 자리 잡고 사는지 안다. 그곳에는 사탄의 왕좌가 있다. 그렇지만 너는 내 이름을 꽉 붙잡고 있다. 나를 믿는 믿음을 저버리지 않았다. 나의 신실한 증인 안티파스가 너희들 있는 곳, 곧 사탄이 자리 잡고 사는 곳에서 죽임을 당할 때에도 말이다.	I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
14	그러나 너한테 거슬리는 일이 몇 가지 있다. 거기 너에게 발람의 가르침을 꽉 붙잡고 있는 사람들이 있다. 발람은 발락에게 가르치기를 이스라엘 사람들 앞에 걸림돌을 던져 놓으라고 한 자이다. 우상에게 바쳐진 제물을 먹고 음란한 짓을 저지르게 하려고 말이다.	But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
15	이와 같이 바로 너에게도 똑같이 니콜라우스당 사람들의 가르침을 꽉 붙잡고 있는 사람들이 있다.	So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.
16	그러므로 회개해라. 그렇지 않으면 내가 빨리 너에게로 가서 내 입의 칼로 그들과 전쟁을 치를 것이다.	Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
17	귀 있는 사람은 성령님이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들으라. 이기는 사람, 그 사람에게는 내가 감춰진 만나를 나눠 줄 것이다. 또 그에게 하얀 돌을 줄 것이다. 그 돌에는 새로운 이름이 적혀 있는데, 그것을 받는 사람 말고는 그 이름을 아는 사람이 아무도 없다.」’”	He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
18	두아디라에 있는 교회에 보내는 편지 “또 너는 두아디라에 있는 교회의 심부름꾼에게 이렇게 써 보내라. ‘하나님의 아들, 불꽃 같은 눈을 가지신 분, 두 발은 질 좋은 놋쇠와 비슷한 분이 이것들을 말씀하십니다.	And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;
19	「나는 네가 한 일, 곧 너의 사랑과 믿음과 섬김과 견딤을 안다. 네가 나중에 한 일들이 처음에 한 일들보다 많은 것도 안다.	I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.
20	그러나 너한테 거슬리는 일이 있다. 네가 그 여자 이세벨을 그대로 두고 있는 것이다. 그는 스스로를 예언자라고 말하면서 내 종들을 가르치고, 속여 헤매게 하고 있는 자이다. 그리하여 음란한 짓을 저지르게 하고 우상에게 바쳐진 제물을 먹게 했다.	Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
21	내가 그 여자에게 회개하도록 시간을 주었다. 그러나 그 여자는 음란한 짓에서 떠나 회개하고 싶어 하지 않는다.	And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
22	보아라, 내가 그 여자를 병상에 던져 놓겠다. 또 부부 관계를 벗어나 그 여자와 잠자리하는 남자들은 대단히 큰 어려움에 던져 넣을 것이다. 그들이 회개하여 그 여자가 부추기는 일에서 돌아서지 않는다면 말이다.	Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
23	내가 그 여자의 자녀들을 죽이되 생명을 앗아 가는 병으로 죽일 것이다. 그러면 모든 교회가 알게 될 것이다. 나야말로 속생각과 속마음을 자세히 살펴보는 존재라는 것을 말이다. 또 나는 너희가 한 일에 따라 저마다에게 갚아 주겠다.	And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
24	그러나 내가 너희들, 곧 두아디라에 있는 그 밖의 사람들에게 말한다. 그 가르침을 받아들이지 않고, 이른바 ‘사탄의 깊은 것들’이라 하는 것을 맛보지 않은 너희들에게 말이다. 나는 너희 위에 다른 짐을 올려 두지 않는다.	But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
25	다만 너희에게 있는 것을 내가 올 때까지 꽉 붙잡고 있어라.	But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
26	이기는 사람, 곧 내가 요구하는 일들을 끝까지 지키는 사람, 그 사람에게 내가 민족들을 다스릴 권한을 줄 것이다.	And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
27	그가 그들을 다스릴 것이다, 쇠막대기로. 그들은 진흙그릇처럼 부서질 것이다.	And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
28	이것은 마치 내가 나의 아버지한테 권한을 받아서 다스리는 것과 같다. 나는 그에게 새벽 별을 줄 것이다.	And I will give him the morning star.
29	귀 있는 사람은 성령님이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들으라.」’”	He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
