1	바빌론 임금에게 항복하라 여호와께로부터 예레미야에게 내려온 말씀. 시드기야 임금이 예레미야에게 말기야의 아들 바스훌과 마아세야의 아들 스바냐 제사장을 보내어 이렇게 말하게 한 때였다.	The word which came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, when king Zedekiah sent unto him Pashur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, saying,
2	“우리를 위해 여쭈어봐 주십시오, 여호와께요! 바빌론 임금 네부카드네자르가 우리를 쳐부수려 하니까요. 어쩌면 여호와께서 우리를 위해 그전처럼 온갖 놀라운 일을 해 주시겠지요. 그러면 네부카드네자르가 우리를 떠나 물러날 것입니다.”	Enquire, I pray thee, of the Lord for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the Lord will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.
3	예레미야가 그들에게 대답했다. (예언자) “여러분은 시드기야 임금에게 이렇게 말씀드리세요.	Then said Jeremiah unto them, Thus shall ye say to Zedekiah:
4	‘여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) 「보라, 내가 전쟁 무기의 방향을 뒤로 돌리겠다. 성벽 바깥에서 너희를 에워싼 바빌론 임금과 칼데아 사람들과 싸우려고 너희가 그 무기들을 손에 들었다. 그런데 내가 그 무기들을 거두어들여서 이 도시 한가운데로 향하도록 하겠다.	Thus saith the Lord God of Israel; Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans, which besiege you without the walls, and I will assemble them into the midst of this city.
5	그러고는 내가 직접 너희와 싸우겠다. 편 손과 강한 팔로, 또 분노와 노여움과 큰 진노로 싸우겠다.	And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath.
6	이 도시에 사는 것들을 내가 때려눕히겠다. 사람도 짐승도 때려눕히겠다. 무서운 돌림병에 걸려 그것들이 다 죽을 것이다.	And I will smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence.
7	그런 다음에 ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ― 내가 유다 임금 시드기야와 그의 신하들과 백성과 또 돌림병과 칼과 굶주림에서 살아남은 이 도시 사람들을 바빌론 임금 네부카드네자르의 손에 넘겨주겠다. 그들의 원수들의 손에, 그들의 목숨을 노리는 사람들의 손에 넘겨주겠다. 그러면 네부카드네자르가 그들을 칼날로 쳐 죽일 것이다. 조금도 가엾게 여기지 않고 가엾이 여기지도 않고 자비를 베풀지도 않을 것이다.」’”	And afterward, saith the Lord, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy.
8	(하나님) “너는 이 백성에게 말해라. (예언자) ‘여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) 「보라, 내가 너희 앞에 삶의 길과 죽음의 길을 둔다.	And unto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death.
9	이 도시에 사는 사람은 칼과 굶주림과 돌림병으로 죽을 것이다. 너희를 에워싼 칼데아 사람들에게로 나가서 항복하는 사람은 살아남을 것이다. 그에게는 자기 목숨이 전쟁에서 빼앗은 물건처럼 될 것이다.	He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey.
10	내가 나의 얼굴을 이 도시 쪽으로 돌린 것은 재난을 뜻한다. 구원을 뜻하지 않는다. ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ― 이 도시는 바빌론 임금의 손에 떨어질 것이다. 그가 이 도시를 불태워 버릴 것이다.」’”	For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the Lord: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.
11	유다 임금 집안에 대한 말씀 유다 임금 집안에 대하여. (예언자) 여러분은 여호와의 말씀을 들으세요!	And touching the house of the king of Judah, say, Hear ye the word of the Lord;
12	다윗 집안의 여러분, 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) “너희는 아침마다 옳게 판가름해 주어라. 그래서 강제로 빼앗긴 것이 있는 사람을 억누르는 사람의 손에서부터 빼내 주어라! 그렇게 하지 않으면 나의 노여움이 불처럼 터져 나가 태워 버릴 것이다. 그 불을 끌 사람이 없을 것이다. 너희 행동들이 악하기 때문이다.	O house of David, thus saith the Lord; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
13	보라, 내가 너희와 맞서겠다, 골짜기에 자리 잡은 너 예루살렘아, 평지의 바위야! ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ― 너희가 이렇게 말하고 있구나. ‘누가 쳐내려와서 우리와 맞설 것인가? 누가 우리 숨은 곳들로 쳐들어올 것인가?’	Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain, saith the Lord; which say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?
14	그러나 내가 너희를 벌하겠다, 너희 행동들의 열매에 걸맞게! ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ― 내가 예루살렘의 숲에 불을 놓겠다. 그 불이 예루살렘 주변을 다 집어삼킬 것이다.”	But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the Lord: and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour all things round about it.
