1	예레미야에게 여호와의 말씀이 내려오다 힐기야의 아들 예레미야의 말. 힐기야는 베냐민 땅 아나돗의 제사장들 가운데 한 사람이었다.	The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:
2	이 예레미야에게 여호와의 말씀이 내려오는 일이 일어났다. 아몬의 아들 요시야가 유다 임금으로 다스린 지 13년째 되는 해였다.	To whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.
3	이런 일은 요시야의 아들 여호야김이 유다 임금일 때에도 일어났다. 요시야의 다른 아들 유다 임금 시드기야 11년이 끝날 때까지, 다섯째 달에 예루살렘 사람들이 사로잡혀 갈 때까지 그러했다.	It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.
4	예레미야를 예언자로 삼으시다 (예언자) 여호와의 말씀이 나에게 내려오는 일이 일어났습니다.	Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
5	(하나님) “내가 너를 엄마 뱃속에 짓기 전에 너를 알았다. 네가 아기집에서 나오기 전에 너를 거룩하게 했다. 너를 여러 민족의 예언자로 삼았다.”	Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
6	(예언자) 그래서 내가 말씀드렸습니다. “아, 주 여호와여! 보십시오, 저는 말을 어떻게 해야 하는지 잘 알지 못합니다. 저는 아직 아이입니다.”	Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
7	여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) “‘저는 아직 아이입니다.’라고 말하지 마라! 내가 너를 어디로 보내든지 그리로 가라! 내가 너에게 명령하는 것은 무엇이든지 말해 주도록 해라!	But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
8	그들 앞에서 두려워하지 마라. 내가 너와 함께하여 너를 건져 낼 것이다. ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ―”	Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.
9	그리고 여호와께서 손을 내밀어 나의 입술에 대셨습니다. 그러고는 여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) “보라, 나의 말을 너의 입에 두었다.	Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
10	잘 보아라, 내가 너를 오늘 민족들과 나라들 위에 세웠다. 그들을 뽑아내고 무너뜨리고 망가뜨리고 헐어 버리게 하려는 것이다. 세우고 심게 하려는 것이다.”	See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
11	아몬드나무 가지와 불 지펴진 가마솥 (예언자) 여호와의 말씀이 나에게 내려오는 일이 또 일어났습니다. (하나님) “네가 무엇을 보고 있느냐, 예레미야야?” (예언자) 내가 대답했습니다. “아몬드나무 가지를 보고 있습니다.”	Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.
12	여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) “잘 보았구나. 내가 깨어 지켜보고 있다, 나의 말이 이루어지는지를!”	Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
13	(예언자) 여호와의 말씀이 나에게 내려오는 일이 또다시 일어났습니다. (하나님) “네가 무엇을 보고 있느냐?” (예언자) 내가 대답했습니다. “불이 지펴진 가마솥을 보고 있습니다. 그런데 그 윗면이 북쪽에서부터 기울어져 있습니다.”	And the word of the Lord came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.
14	여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨습니다. (하나님) “북쪽으로부터 이 땅에 사는 모든 사람들에게 재난이 닥칠 것이다.	Then the Lord said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.
15	보라, 내가 북쪽 왕국들의 모든 부족을 불러들이겠다. ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ― 그들이 와서 저마다 자기의 임금자리를 펼 것이다. 예루살렘 성문들의 출입구와 예루살렘 사방 모든 성벽 위와 유다 모든 도시에 그렇게 할 것이다.	For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the Lord; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.
16	그러면 내가 이 땅 주민들에게 나의 판결을 내리겠다. 그들이 저지른 온갖 악한 짓 때문이다. 그들은 나를 버리고 다른 신들에게 향을 피워 바쳤다. 자기들의 손으로 만든 것들에게 엎드려 절했다.	And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.
17	그렇지만 너는 허리를 띠로 두르고 일어나도록 해라. 그리고 내가 너에게 명령하는 것은 무엇이든지 그들에게 말해 주도록 해라. 그들 앞에서 겁먹지 마라. 그렇지 않으면 내가 너를 그들 앞에서 겁먹게 할지도 모른다!	Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.
18	그러나 내가, 보라, 오늘 너를 요새 도시와 쇠기둥과 놋성벽으로 만들어 나라 전체에 맞서게 하겠다. 유다 임금들과 고위 관리들과 제사장들과 이 땅 백성에게 맞서게 하겠다.	For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.
19	그들이 너에게 싸움을 걸어도 이기지 못할 것이다. 내가 너와 함께하여 ― 여호와의 말씀입니다. ― 너를 건져 내 줄 것이기 때문이다.”	And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee.
