1	피신도시를 세 곳 더 정하라 하셨습니다 “여호와 그대의 하나님이 민족들을 뿌리 뽑으실 것입니다. 여호와 그대의 하나님이 그대에게 주셔서 그대가 차지하고 살 땅의 민족들을요. 그러면 그대가 그들을 쫓아내고 그들의 여러 도시와 집에 살게 될 것입니다.	When the Lord thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land the Lord thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses;
2	그때 여호와 그대의 하나님이 그대에게 주어 차지하게 하신 땅 한가운데에서, 세 곳의 도시를 그대를 위해 골라내야 합니다.	Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.
3	길을 손보고, 여호와 그대의 하나님이 그대에게 차지하게 해 주신 영토를 세 부분으로 나누어야 합니다. 그래서 살인한 사람은 누구나 그리로 달아나도록 하십시오.	Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither.
4	사람을 죽이고 그리로 달아나서 목숨을 건질 수 있는 경우는 이러합니다. 이전에 미워한 적이 없는 이웃을 자기도 모르는 사이에 쳐 죽인 경우이지요.	And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past;
5	이를테면 이웃과 함께 숲으로 나무하러 가서 장작을 마련하려고 손으로 도끼를 휘둘렀다고 합시다. 그런데 도끼날이 자루에서 빠져 이웃을 맞혀 그 이웃이 죽었다고 합시다. 이런 경우에 그는 이 도시들 가운데 한 곳으로 달아나서 목숨을 건질 수 있습니다.	As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live:
6	마음이 열에 받쳐서 그 피를 앙갚음하려는 사람이 살인자를 뒤쫓을 텐데요. 길이 너무 멀면, 그가 살인자를 따라잡아 살인자를 쳐서 목숨을 빼앗게 되는 일이 생길 수 있습니다. 그런 일은 생기지 않도록 하십시오. 이전에 그 이웃을 미워하지 않았으므로, 그에게 사형 판결은 내려지지 않았을 것입니다.	Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.
7	그러므로 내가 그대에게 명령합니다. 그대를 위하여 세 곳의 도시를 골라내도록 하십시오.	Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.
8	여호와 그대의 하나님이 그대의 땅 경계를 넓혀 주실 것입니다. 그대의 조상들에게 굳게 약속하신 대로요. 그대의 조상들에게 주시겠다고 말씀하신 그 온 땅을 그대에게 주실 것입니다.	And if the Lord thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;
9	내가 오늘 그대에게 알려 주는 이 모든 명령을 지키고 실행하며, 여호와 그대의 하나님을 사랑하고 평생 그분의 길로 걷는다면요. 그때 그대를 위해 이 세 곳의 도시에 다시 세 곳의 도시를 더하도록 하십시오.	If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the Lord thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:
10	그래서 여호와 그대의 하나님이 그대에게 나누어 주신 땅에서 죄 없이 피 흘려 죽는 일이 없도록 하십시오. 그렇지 않으면 피 흘린 죄가 그대에게 있을 것입니다.	That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.
11	어떤 사람이 이웃을 미워해서 숨어 기다리다가 달려들어 쳐 죽이고는, 이 도시들 가운데 한 곳으로 달아났다고 합시다.	But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities:
12	그러면 그 사람이 살고 있었던 도시의 원로들이 사람을 보내어 그를 거기서 붙들어서, 피를 앙갚음하는 사람의 손에 넘겨서 죽이도록 하십시오.	Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
13	그런 사람은 가엾이 여기는 눈으로 보지 마십시오. 죄 없이 피 흘려 죽는 일을 이스라엘 가운데서 뿌리 뽑아 버리도록 하십시오. 그러면 그대에게 좋을 것입니다.”	Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.
14	경곗돌을 옮기지 마십시오 “그대는 이웃 사이의 경계 표시로 조상들이 세워 둔 돌을 옮기지 마십시오. 그대가 나누어 받은 땅, 곧 여호와 그대의 하나님이 그대에게 주어 차지하게 하신 땅에서요.”	Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.
15	증인의 진술에 대해 이렇게 하십시오 “증인 한 명으로는 어떤 사람에 대한 어떤 잘못이나 그가 저지른 어떤 죄가 성립되지 않도록 하십시오. 두 명의 증인의 진술이나 세 명의 증인의 진술에 근거해서만 사건이 성립되도록 하십시오.	One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.
16	폭력을 덮는 증인이 어떤 사람에게 불리하게 나설 수 있으니까요. 그 사람에게 불리하게 틀린 증언을 할 수 있기 때문입니다.	If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong;
17	서로 다투는 두 사람은 여호와 앞에 서도록 하십시오. 그 시대에 활동하는 제사장들과 재판관들 앞에요.	Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the Lord, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;
18	재판관들은 잘 조사해 보도록 하십시오. 자, 그 증인이 거짓 증인이어서 형제에게 불리하게 터무니없는 말을 했다고 합시다.	And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;
19	그러면 그가 형제에게 하려고 했던 그대로 그에게 해 주도록 하십시오. 이처럼 나쁜 짓은 그대 이스라엘 가운데서 뿌리 뽑아 버리도록 하십시오.	Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.
20	나머지 사람들이 듣고 두려워하도록 하십시오. 이런 나쁜 일을 그대 가운데서 더는 하지 않도록 하십시오.	And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.
21	가엾이 여기는 눈으로 보지 마십시오. 목숨은 목숨으로, 눈은 눈으로, 이는 이로, 손은 손으로, 발은 발로 갚도록 하십시오.”	And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
