| 1 | 여호와가 집을 지어 주지 아니하시면,집 짓는 사람들이 애써도 헛일이지요.여호와가 도시를 지켜 주지 아니하시면,지키는 사람이 깨어 있어도 헛일이지요. | Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. |
| 2 | 헛되지 않은 삶 / 성전으로 올라가면서 부르는 노래. 솔로몬에게 속한 것. 여러분이 아침 일찍 일어나 늦게 잠자리에 들어도 헛일이지요. 힘들게 일해 얻은 빵을 먹을 뿐이고요. 그만큼은 여호와가 주시지요, 그분이 사랑하는 사람에게, 그가 잘 때라도. |
It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. |
| 3 | 보세요, 자식은 여호와가 주신 몫이지요. 몸의 열매는 삯이고요. | Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. |

| 5 | 복 있습니다, 화살집에 화살이 가득한 사람은! 그는 창피당하는 법이 없습니다, 성문에서 원수들과 말하더라도. | Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. |
