1	드보라와 바락이 이스라엘을 구해 내다 이스라엘 사람들이 다시 여호와께서 보시기에 나쁜 짓을 저질렀다. 에훗이 죽고 나서였다.	And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord, when Ehud was dead.
2	그래서 여호와께서 그들을 가나안 임금 야빈의 손에 내주셨다. 그는 하솔에서 다스리고 있었고, 그의 군대 사령관은 시스라였다. 시스라는 하로셋학고임에 살고 있었다.	And the Lord sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, that reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose host was Sisera, which dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles.
3	이스라엘 사람들이 여호와께 부르짖었다. 야빈이 쇠 전투수레 900대를 굴리면서, 이스라엘 사람들을 20년 동안 강하게 내리눌렀기 때문이었다.	And the children of Israel cried unto the Lord: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.
4	드보라는 예언자인데 랍비돗의 아내였다. 그때 이스라엘을 드보라가 재판관(사사)으로 이끌고 있었다.	And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.
5	드보라가 앉아 있었던 곳은 ‘드보라의 대추야자나무(종려나무)’ 아래였다. 에브라임 산지에 있는 라마와 베델 사이였다. 이스라엘 사람들이 드보라가 있는 곳으로 올라가서 재판을 받았다.	And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Beth–el in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.
6	드보라는 사람을 보내 바락을 불렀다. 그는 아비노암의 아들로 납달리 게데스 출신이었다. 드보라가 바락에게 말했다. “여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 장군에게 이렇게 명령하시지 않았나요? ‘가라! 다볼산으로 나아가라! 납달리 사람과 스불론 사람 10,000명을 데리고 가라!	And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh–naphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the Lord God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?
7	내가 야빈의 군대 사령관 시스라와 그의 전투수레와 부하들을 기손 마른시내로 너에게 끌어내다가 그를 너의 손에 넘겨주겠다.’”	And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand.
8	바락이 드보라에게 대답했다. “재판관(사사)님이 저와 함께 가시면, 제가 가겠습니다. 저와 함께 가지 않으시면, 가지 않겠습니다.”	And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.
9	드보라가 말했다. “내가 반드시 장군과 함께 가겠습니다. 그러나 장군이 가는 길에서 장군에게 영광이 돌아가지는 않을 것입니다. 여호와께서 시스라를 여자의 손에 내주실 것이니까요.” 드보라가 일어나 바락과 함께 게데스로 갔다.	And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the Lord shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.
10	바락은 스불론과 납달리 사람들을 게데스로 불러 모았다. 그를 뒤따라 10,000명이 올라갔다. 드보라도 바락과 함께 올라갔다.	And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and he went up with ten thousand men at his feet: and Deborah went up with him.
11	가인 사람 헤벨은 가인 사람들, 곧 모세의 장인 호밥의 자손들에게서 떨어져 나왔다. 그는 게데스에서 가까운 사아난님의 참나무 곁에 천막을 쳤다.	Now Heber the Kenite, which was of the children of Hobab the father in law of Moses, had severed himself from the Kenites, and pitched his tent unto the plain of Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh.
12	사람들이 시스라에게 알려 주었다. 아비노암의 아들 바락이 다볼산으로 올라갔다고 한 것이다.	And they shewed Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam was gone up to mount Tabor.
13	시스라는 자신에게 있던 전투수레 곧 쇠 전투수레 900대와 자신이 거느린 백성을 다 불러 모았다. 하로셋학고임에서 기손 마른시내로 불러 모았다.	And Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles unto the river of Kishon.
14	드보라가 바락에게 말했다. “일어나세요! 이날은 여호와께서 시스라를 장군의 손에 넘겨주신 날입니다. 여호와께서 장군보다 앞서 나아가시지 않았나요?” 바락은 다볼산에서 내려갔다. 10,000명이 그를 뒤따랐다.	And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the Lord hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the Lord gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.
15	여호와께서는 바락 앞에서 날카로운 칼로 시스라와 전투수레와 군대를 모두 혼란에 빠뜨리셨다. 시스라는 전투수레에서 내려 두 발로 도망쳤다.	And the Lord discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet.
16	바락은 그 전투수레와 군대를 하로셋학고임까지 뒤쫓았다. 시스라의 온 군대가 날카로운 칼에 쓰러졌다. 한 사람도 남지 않았다.	But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth of the Gentiles: and all the host of Sisera fell upon the edge of the sword; and there was not a man left.
17	시스라는 두 발로 도망하여 가인 사람 헤벨의 아내 야엘의 천막으로 갔다. 하솔 임금 야빈은 가인 사람 헤벨의 집안과 친하게 지내는 사이였기 때문이었다.	Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite: for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.
18	야엘이 시스라를 맞이하러 나가서 말했다. “드시지요, 장군님, 저희 집으로 드시지요. 두려워하지 마시고요.” 시스라가 야엘의 천막으로 들어서자, 야엘이 그를 이불로 덮어 주었다.	And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a mantle.
19	시스라가 야엘에게 말했다. “마실 물 좀 주세요. 목이 말라요.” 야엘이 가죽 부대를 열어 우유를 마시게 하고는 그를 덮어 주었다.	And he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink; for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him.
20	시스라가 야엘에게 또 말했다. “천막 들머리에 서 있다가, 어떤 사람이 와서 여기에 사람이 있느냐고 물으면 없다고 해 주세요.”	Again he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be, when any man doth come and enquire of thee, and say, Is there any man here? that thou shalt say, No.
21	헤벨의 아내 야엘은 천막 말뚝을 가져온 다음에 손에 망치를 들고서 몰래 그에게 다가갔다. 그러고는 말뚝을 그의 귀와 눈 사이에 박았는데, 말뚝이 땅에까지 박혔다. 그는 지쳐 잠에 곯아떨어졌다가 이렇게 죽었다.	Then Jael Heber’s wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.
22	그제야, 시스라를 뒤쫓아 바락이 나타난 것이 아닌가! 야엘이 그를 맞이하러 나가서 말했다. “이리 오시지요. 찾고 계시는 사람을 보여 드리지요.” 바락이 야엘의 천막으로 들어갔다. 거기, 시스라가 쓰러져 죽어 있는 것이 아닌가! 말뚝이 귀와 눈 사이에 박힌 채로!	And, behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said unto him, Come, and I will shew thee the man whom thou seekest. And when he came into her tent, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the nail was in his temples.
23	이처럼 하나님이 그날 가나안 임금 야빈을 이스라엘 사람들 앞에 무릎 꿇게 하셨다.	So God subdued on that day Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel.
24	이스라엘 사람들이 갈수록 강하게 가나안 임금 야빈과 맞섰다. 마침내 가나안 임금 야빈을 물리쳤다.	And the hand of the children of Israel prospered, and prevailed against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.
