1	기브온 사람들에게 사울의 아들 중 일곱을 내주다 다윗 시대에 3년 동안 해마다 흉년이 들었다. 그러자 다윗은 여호와의 얼굴을 찾았다. 여호와께서 말씀하셨다. “사울 때문이야. 남의 피를 쏟은 집안 때문이야. 그가 기브온 사람들을 죽였기 때문이지.”	Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the Lord. And the Lord answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.
2	임금은 기브온 사람들을 불러서 말했다. 기브온 사람들은 이스라엘 사람들이 아니라 아모리 사람 가운데 남아 있는 사람들이다. 이스라엘 사람들이 그들에게 맹세했는데도 사울은 그들을 쳐서 없애 버리려 했다. 이스라엘과 유다 사람들을 위한 열정을 품고 있었기 때문이다.	And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)
3	다윗이 기브온 사람들에게 물었다. “내가 여러분한테 무엇을 해 드려야겠소? 어떻게 하면 죄를 없앨 수 있겠소? 여호와께서 자신의 몫으로 삼으신 백성을 여러분이 축복해 주게 하려면 말이오.”	Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the Lord?
4	기브온 사람들이 그에게 대답했다. “우리에게 중요한 것은 사울과 그의 집안에 있는 은이나 금이 아닙니다. 우리에게 중요한 것은 이스라엘에서 누군가를 죽이는 것도 아닙니다.” 다윗이 말했다. “여러분이 무슨 말을 하든지 내가 여러분에게 해 드리겠소.”	And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.
5	그들이 임금에게 말했다. “그 사람은 우리를 끝장낸 사람, 우리를 두고 일을 꾸민 사람입니다. 우리를 망하게 하여 이스라엘 어떤 지역에서도 자리 잡지 못하게 하려고요.	And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,
6	우리한테 그의 아들 가운데 일곱을 내주십시오. 우리가 그들을 여호와 앞에서 매달겠습니다. 여호와께서 골라 뽑으신 사람 사울의 도시 기브아에서요.” 임금이 말했다. “내가 내드리겠소.”	Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the Lord in Gibeah of Saul, whom the Lord did choose. And the king said, I will give them.
7	임금은 요나단의 아들이자 사울의 손자인 므비보셋을 아꼈다. 여호와를 걸고 그들 사이에, 그러니까 다윗과 사울의 아들 요나단 사이에 했던 맹세 때문이었다.	But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the Lord’s oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
8	임금은 아야의 딸 리스바가 사울에게 낳아 준 두 아들, 알모니와 므비보셋을 데려갔다. 또 사울의 딸 메랍이 므홀랏 사람 바르실래의 아들 아드리엘에게 낳아 준 다섯 아들을 데려갔다.	But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:
9	다윗은 그들을 기브온 사람들의 손에 넘겨주었다. 이 사람들은 그들을 산에서 여호와 앞에 매달았다. 그들 일곱은 함께 목숨을 잃었다. 기브온 사람들은 곡식을 거두어들이는 처음 몇 날 안에 그들을 죽였다. 보리를 거두어들이기 시작할 때였다.	And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the Lord: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.
10	아야의 딸 리스바가 거친 천을 가져다가 스스로를 위해 바위에다 펼쳤다. 곡식을 거두어들이는 첫날부터 시작해 하늘에서 그 시체들 위로 비가 쏟아질 때까지 그렇게 있었다. 낮에는 하늘의 새가, 밤에는 들짐승이 그들 위에 내려앉지 못하게 했다.	And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.
11	누군가 다윗에게 알렸다. 아야의 딸이자 사울의 다른 아내였던 리스바가 이렇게 했다고 한 것이다.	And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.
12	다윗이 가서 사울의 뼈와 그의 아들 요나단의 뼈를 길르앗의 야베스의 주인들에게서 가져왔다. 이 사람들이 벳스안 광장에서 몰래 빼내 온 것이었다. 필리스티아 사람들이 길보아에서 사울을 쳐 죽인 날 그들을 그곳에 매달아 놓았던 것이다.	And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh–gilead, which had stolen them from the street of Beth–shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:
13	다윗은 길르앗의 야베스에서 사울의 뼈와 그의 아들 요나단의 뼈를 가지고 올라왔다. 그러자 사람들은 매달려 죽은 사람들의 뼈를 모았다.	And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.
14	사람들이 사울의 뼈와 그의 아들 요나단의 뼈를 가지고서 베냐민 땅 셀라에 있는 사울의 아버지 기스의 무덤에서 장례를 치렀다. 그들은 임금이 명령한 대로 다 했다. 그러고 나서 하나님이 그 땅을 위해 드린 기도를 들어주셨다. ()	And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.
15	다윗의 신하들이 필리스티아 사람들을 무찌르다 다시 필리스티아 사람들이 이스라엘과 전쟁을 벌였다. 다윗이 내려갔고 그의 신하들이 그와 함께했다. 그들이 필리스티아 사람들과 싸웠는데 다윗이 지쳤다.	Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.
16	이스비브놉은 라바 사람으로 태어난 사람들 가운데 하나였다. 그가 가진 창은 놋 무게가 3.6킬로그램이었다. 게다가 그는 새 칼을 차고 있었다. 그가 다윗을 쳐 죽이겠다고 했다.	And Ishbi–benob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.
17	스루야의 아들 아비새가 다윗을 도와 그 필리스티아 사람을 쳐 죽였다. 그때 다윗의 사람들이 그에게 맹세했다. “임금님께서 더는 우리와 함께 싸우러 나가지 않게 해 드리겠습니다. 이스라엘의 등불을 꺼뜨리지 않게 해 드리겠습니다.”	But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.
18	이런 다음에 일어난 일이다. 다시 곱에서 필리스티아 사람들과 전투를 벌이게 되었다. 그때 후사 사람 십브개가 사프를 무찔렀다. 사프는 라바 사람으로 태어난 사람들 가운데 하나였다.	And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant.
19	다시 필리스티아 사람들과 전투를 치르게 되었다. 곱에서였다. 야레오레김의 아들 베들레헴 사람 엘하난이 가드 사람 골리앗을 무찔렀다. 골리앗의 창 자루는 베틀의 도투마리 같았다.	And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare–oregim, a Beth–lehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.
20	다시 가드에서 전투를 치르게 되었다. 그런데 싸우기를 몹시 좋아하는 사내가 있었다. 그의 손가락과 발가락이 각각 여섯과 여섯이어서 그 수가 스물넷이었다. 그 또한 라바 사람으로 태어났다.	And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.
21	그가 이스라엘 사람들에게 창피를 주었다. 그러자 요나단이 그를 무찔렀다. 요나단은 다윗의 형제 시므아의 아들이었다.	And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him.
22	이들 넷은 라바 사람으로 가드에서 태어났다. 그렇지만 다윗의 손에, 또 그의 신하들의 손에 쓰러졌다.	These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
