1	다윗이 그일라를 구하다 사람들이 다윗에게 알려 왔다. “저기, 필리스티아 사람들이 그일라로 쳐들어왔습니다. 그들이 타작마당을 빼앗고 있어요.”	Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors.
2	다윗이 여호와께 여쭈었다. “제가 가서 이 필리스티아 사람들을 칠까요?” 여호와께서 다윗에게 대답하셨다. “가서 필리스티아 사람들을 치고 그일라를 구해 내라!”	Therefore David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the Lord said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.
3	그러나 다윗의 사람들이 그에게 말했다. “보십시오. 우리가 여기 유다에서도 두려워하고 있습니다. 그런데 필리스티아 사람들이 전열을 갖추고 나와 있는 그일라로 가자는 겁니까?”	And David’s men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?
4	다윗이 여호와께 다시 여쭈었다. 그러자 여호와께서 그에게 대답하여 말씀하셨다. “일어나 그일라로 내려가라. 내가 필리스티아 사람들을 너의 손에 넘겨줄 것이다.”	Then David enquired of the Lord yet again. And the Lord answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
5	그래서 그와 그의 사람들이 그일라로 가서 필리스티아 사람들과 싸웠다. 다윗이 그들의 가축을 몰아내고는 그들에게 큰 패배를 안겨 주었다. 그러고는 다윗이 그일라에 사는 사람들을 구해 냈다.	So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
6	아히멜렉의 아들 아비아달이 달아나서 그일라에 있는 다윗에게 왔을 때, 그의 손에 에봇을 가지고 내려왔다.	And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.
7	누군가가 사울에게, 다윗이 그일라에 왔다고 알려 주었다. 그러자 사울이 말했다. “그가 장소를 잘못 골라 내 손에 들어오도록 하나님이 해 주셨구나. 그가 성문과 문빗장이 있는 도시로 들어가서 스스로를 가두었거든.”	And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.
8	사울은 전쟁을 벌이려고 병사들을 모두 불러 모았다. 그일라로 내려가서 다윗과 그의 사람들을 에워싸려고 한 것이다.	And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.
9	다윗은 알았다. 그를 해치려고 사울이 나쁜 일을 꾀하고 있었던 것을. 그래서 아비아달 제사장에게 말했다. “에봇을 가져오세요.”	And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.
10	다윗이 말했다. “여호와 이스라엘의 하나님! 주님의 종인 제가 똑똑히 들었습니다. 사울이 그일라로 와서 저 때문에 이 도시를 망가뜨리려 한답니다.	Then said David, O Lord God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.
11	그일라의 주인들이 저를 그의 손에 넘겨주겠습니까? 사울이 내려오겠습니까, 주님의 종인 제가 들은 것처럼요? 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님! 주님의 종인 저에게 좀 알려 주십시오.” 여호와께서 말씀하셨다. “그가 내려올 것이다.”	Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O Lord God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the Lord said, He will come down.
12	다윗이 여쭈었다. “그일라의 주인들이 저와 제 사람들을 사울의 손에 넘겨주겠습니까?” 여호와께서 말씀하셨다. “넘겨줄 것이다.”	Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the Lord said, They will deliver thee up.
13	다윗과 그의 사람들 600명쯤이 일어났다. 그일라에서 나와 갈 만한 데로 이리저리 다녔다. 누군가가 사울에게 알려 주었다. 다윗이 그일라에서 빠져나갔다는 것이다. 그러자 사울은 나아가기를 멈췄다.	Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth.
14	요나단이 다윗을 찾아오다 다윗은 광야에서 요새에 머물렀다. 시프 광야에서는 산에 머물렀다. 사울이 그동안 내내 그를 찾았지만 하나님은 그를 사울의 손에 넘겨주지 않으셨다.	And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.
15	다윗은 알았다. 자신의 목숨을 노리고 사울이 나온 것을. 그때 다윗은 시프 광야의 호레스에 있었다.	And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.
16	사울의 아들 요나단이 일어나 호레스의 다윗에게 갔다. 그러고는 그를 격려하여 하나님을 더욱더 굳게 의지하게 했다.	And Jonathan Saul’s son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.
17	요나단이 다윗에게 말했다. “두려워하지 말게. 나의 아버지 사울의 손으로는 자네를 찾아내지 못할 걸세. 자네가 이스라엘을 임금으로 다스리게 될 거야. 나는 정말 자네를 위해 둘째가 될 거야. 나의 아버지 사울도 그렇게 알고 계셔.”	And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.
18	그들 둘이 여호와 앞에서 약속을 맺었다. 다윗이 호레스에 머물렀다. 요나단은 자신의 집으로 갔다.	And they two made a covenant before the Lord: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.
19	시프 사람들이 기브아로 올라가 사울에게 말했다. “다윗이 우리 가운데 숨어 있지 않습니까? 하길라 언덕 호레스의 요새에요. 여시몬 남쪽이지요.	Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?
20	임금님, 이제 친히 내려오고 싶으시면 언제라도 내려오십시오. 저희가 할 일은 그를 임금님의 손에 넘겨드리는 것입니다.”	Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand.
21	사울이 말했다. “여러분은 여호와께 복받을 것이오! 여러분이 나를 아껴 주니까.	And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the Lord; for ye have compassion on me.
22	이제 가서 다시 한번 확실히 알아보시오. 그의 발걸음이 어떤 곳으로 향하는지, 누가 그를 거기서 보았는지를. 누군가 나에게 다윗이 매우 약삭빠르다고 말했소.	Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very subtilly.
23	그가 숨는 모든 장소를 잘 알아보고 내게 돌아오시오. 그러면 내가 여러분과 함께 가겠소. 그가 이 땅에 있다면, 유다의 모든 지역에서 그를 찾아낼 것이오.”	See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.
24	그들이 일어나 사울보다 앞서 시프로 갔다. 다윗과 그의 사람들은 아라바의 마온 광야에 있었다. 여시몬 남쪽이었다.	And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.
25	사울과 그의 사람들이 가서 뒤졌다. 사람들이 다윗에게 알려 주었다. 그는 바위벽으로 내려가 마온 광야에 머물렀다. 사울이 듣고 마온 광야의 다윗을 뒤쫓았다.	Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.
26	사울은 산 이쪽으로 갔다. 그때 다윗과 그의 사람들은 산 저쪽으로 갔다. 다윗이 사울을 피해 허둥지둥 사라졌다. 사울과 그의 사람들은 다윗과 그의 사람들을 에워싸고 잡으려 했다.	And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.
27	그런데 한 심부름꾼이 사울에게 와서 말했다. “서둘러 가십시오. 필리스티아 사람들이 우리 땅에 갑자기 들이닥쳤으니까요.”	But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.
28	사울이 다윗을 뒤쫓다가 돌아섰다. 필리스티아 사람들에게 맞서려고 갔다. 이 때문에 사람들은 그곳을 셀라함마흘르콧이라고 부른다.	Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Sela–hammahlekoth.
29	다윗은 거기서 올라갔다. 엔게디의 요새에 머물렀다.	And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at En–gedi.
