1	다윗이 달아나다 사울이 자신의 아들 요나단과 자신의 모든 신하들에게 다윗을 죽이겠다고 말했다. 그러나 사울의 아들 요나단은 다윗을 무척 좋아했다.	And Saul spake to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David.
2	요나단이 다윗에게 이렇게 알려 주었다. “나의 아버지 사울이 자네를 죽이려 하시네. 그러니 내일 아침에 조심하게. 몸을 숨길 만한 곳에 머무르고 숨어 있게.	But Jonathan Saul’s son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:
3	내가 직접 나가서 자네가 있을 들판에서 아버지 옆에 설 걸세. 내가 직접 그대를 두고서 아버지께 말씀드려 보겠네. 무슨 일이 일어나는지 보고 자네에게 알려 주겠네.”	And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee.
4	요나단이 다윗을 두고서 자신의 아버지 사울에게 좋게 말했다. 요나단이 그에게 말했다. “임금님께서는 임금님의 신하 다윗에게 잘못하지 마시기 바랍니다. 그가 임금님께 잘못하지 않았으니까요. 오히려 그가 한 일들이 임금님을 매우 이롭게 해 주었으니까요.	And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good:
5	그는 자기 목숨을 걸고 필리스티아 사람을 쳤습니다. 그리고 여호와께서는 큰 구원을 온 이스라엘에게 베푸셨습니다. 임금님께서도 보고 기뻐하셨습니다. 그런데 무엇 때문에 죄 없는 사람의 피를 쏟아서 죄를 지으려고 하십니까, 다윗을 까닭 없이 죽여서요?”	For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the Lord wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?
6	사울이 요나단의 말을 귀 기울여 들었다. 사울은 맹세했다. “여호와께서 살아 계심을 걸고 분명히 말한다. 그가 죽음을 당하는 일은 없을 것이다.”	And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As the Lord liveth, he shall not be slain.
7	요나단이 다윗을 불렀다. 요나단은 그에게 이 모든 일을 알려 주었다. 그러고서 요나단은 다윗을 사울에게 데리고 갔다. 다윗은 사울 앞에서 예전처럼 지냈다.	And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan shewed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.
8	또다시 전쟁이 일어났다. 다윗이 나가 필리스티아 사람들과 전투를 벌여 그들에게 큰 패배를 안겨 주었다. 그들은 그의 앞에서 달아났다.	And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled from him.
9	여호와의 나쁜 영이 사울에게 내리는 일이 일어났다. 그가 왕궁에 앉아 있었는데, 그의 창이 그의 손에 있었다. 다윗은 손으로 현악기를 연주하고 있었다.	And the evil spirit from the Lord was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand.
10	사울이 창으로 다윗을 찔러 벽에 꽂으려고 했다. 그는 사울 앞에서 빠져나왔고, 사울은 창을 던져 벽에 꽂았다. 다윗은 달아나 그 밤에 거기서 벗어났다.	And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.
11	사울이 심부름꾼들을 다윗의 집으로 보내게 했다. 그를 지켜보다가 아침에 죽이도록 한 것이다. 그러나 다윗에게 그의 아내 미갈이 이렇게 알려 주었다. “오늘 밤 당신이 몸을 피하지 않으면, 내일 당신은 죽게 될 거예요.”	Saul also sent messengers unto David’s house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David’s wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to night, to morrow thou shalt be slain.
12	미갈이 다윗을 창문으로 내려가게 했다. 그가 빠져나가 달아나서 피했다.	So Michal let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.
13	미갈이 집안우상(드라빔)을 가져다가는 침대에 두었다. 염소 털로 짠 것을 그 우상의 머리맡에 두고 옷으로 덮었다.	And Michal took an image, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats’ hair for his bolster, and covered it with a cloth.
14	사울이 심부름꾼들을 보냈다. 다윗을 잡아 오게 하려 한 것이다. 미갈이 말했다. “그 사람, 아파요.”	And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.
15	사울이 심부름꾼들을 다시 보냈다. 다윗을 살펴보게 하려 한 것이다. 그러고는 이렇게 말했다. “그를 침대째 내게로 들고 오너라. 내가 그를 죽이려는 것이다.”	And Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him.
16	심부름꾼들이 가서 보았다. 거기, 집안우상(드라빔)이 침대에 있는 것이 아닌가! 그리고 염소 털로 짠 것이 그 우상의 머리맡에 있었다.	And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was an image in the bed, with a pillow of goats’ hair for his bolster.
17	사울이 미갈에게 말했다. “무슨 까닭으로 이처럼 네가 나를 속였느냐? 나의 원수를 내보내 피하게 했느냐?” 미갈이 사울에게 말했다. “다윗이 나에게 말했어요. ‘나를 내보내 주세요. 무슨 까닭으로 내가 당신을 죽이겠소?’”	And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me so, and sent away mine enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; why should I kill thee?
18	다윗이 달아나서 안전하게 피했다. 라마에 있는 사무엘에게 가서 그에게 사울이 자기에게 한 모든 것을 알려 주었다. 그와 사무엘은 함께 가서 나욧에 머물렀다.	So David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth.
19	누군가가 사울에게 알려 주었다. “저기, 다윗이 라마의 나욧에 있어요.”	And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.
20	사울이 심부름꾼들을 보냈다. 다윗을 잡아 오려는 것이었다. 그런데 그들이 본 것은 예언자들의 무리였다. 그 무리가 예언하고 있고 사무엘이 그들 맨 앞에 서 있었다. 그 순간 사울의 심부름꾼들 위에도 하나님의 영이 내려오는 일이 일어났다. 그래서 그들도 예언하게 되었다.	And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.
21	누군가 사울에게 알리자, 그는 다른 심부름꾼들을 보냈다. 그러나 그들도 예언했다. 사울이 또다시 세 번째로 심부름꾼들을 보냈다. 그들도 예언하게 되었다.	And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also.
22	그래서 그가 직접 라마로 갔다. 그가 세구에 있는 큰 샘에 이르러 물어보았다. “사무엘과 다윗이 어디에 있소?” 그랬더니 누군가가 대답해 주었다. “저기, 라마의 나욧에요.”	Then went he also to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah.
23	사울이 거기서 라마에 있는 나욧으로 갔다. 그의 위에도 하나님의 영이 내려오는 일이 일어났다. 그래서 그는 걷고 걸으면서 라마에 있는 나욧에 이르기까지 예언했다.	And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.
24	그도 옷을 벗었고, 그도 사무엘 앞에서 예언했다. 그가 쓰러져 맨몸으로 온종일, 또 밤새껏 지냈다. 그래서 사람들이 말하게 되었다. “예언자들 가운데 사울도 있습니까?”	And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?
