1	새로운 생명을 받았으니 달라진 삶을 살라 그러므로 그리스도께서 육신에 고난을 받으셨으니, 여러분 자신들도 그리스도와 같은 생각으로 무장하십시오. 육신에 고난을 겪은 사람은 죄를 끊었으며,	Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2	육신을 지니고 사는 남은 시간 동안 더는 인간의 욕망대로가 아니라 하나님의 뜻에 맞게 살려고 하기 때문입니다.	That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
3	다른 민족 사람들이 하고 싶어 하는 일을 하는 데 여러분이 쓴 시간은 지나간 시간으로 충분하니까요. 그때에 여러분은 멋대로 놀아나고, 욕망을 채우고, 포도주에 취하고, 흥청망청 놀고, 술판을 벌이고, 역겹게도 우상을 섬기는 일에 빠져 지냈습니다.	For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
4	그래서 그들은 이제 여러분이 자기들과 똑같이 방탕한 생활로 함께 달려가지 않는 것을 이상하게 생각하면서 여러분을 모독합니다.	Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
5	그들은 살아 있는 사람들과 죽은 사람들을 심판하시려고 준비하고 계신 분께 해명을 내놓아야 할 것입니다.	Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
6	이를 위해 죽은 사람들에게도 복음이 전해졌습니다. 곧 그들이 육신으로는 모든 사람이 그러하듯이 심판을 받았지만, 영으로는 하나님이 사시듯이 살도록 하기 위해서 말입니다.	For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
7	만물의 끝이 가까이 와 있습니다. 그러므로 여러분은 슬기롭게 생각하고 정신을 맑게 하여 기도하십시오.	But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
8	무엇보다도 서로 끊임없이 사랑하십시오. 사랑은 수많은 죄를 덮어 주기 때문입니다.	And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
9	서로 낯선 손님 대접을 잘하십시오, 투덜대지 말고요.	Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
10	저마다 은혜의 선물을 받은 대로 그것으로 서로 섬기십시오. 하나님의 여러 가지 은혜를 맡은 좋은 살림지기로서 말입니다.	As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11	누군가 말을 하려거든 하나님의 말씀을 전하듯이 하십시오. 누군가 섬기려거든 하나님이 제공해 주시는 힘으로 하듯이 하십시오. 그리하여 모든 면에서 하나님이 예수 그리스도를 통해서 영광을 받으시게 하십시오. 하나님께 영광과 힘이 영원 영원히 있습니다. 아멘.	If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
12	그리스도의 고난에 참여하라 사랑하는 여러분, 여러분을 유혹하려고 여러분 가운데서 생겨나는 불 같은 시련을 이상하게 생각하지 마십시오, 여러분에게 이상한 일이 일어나기나 한 것처럼요.	Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13	오히려 여러분이 그것으로 그리스도의 고난에 참여하는 셈이니 기뻐하십시오. 그리하여 그분의 영광이 나타날 때에도 기뻐 뛸 수 있도록 하십시오.	But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
14	그리스도의 이름 때문에 비방을 당한다면, 여러분은 복 있습니다. 영광의 영, 곧 하나님의 영이 여러분 위에 머물러 계시기 때문입니다.	If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
15	여러분 가운데 누구도 살인자나 도둑이나 악행자나 참견꾼으로 고난을 겪지 마십시오.	But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.
16	그리스도인으로 고난을 겪는다면 창피해하지 마십시오. 오히려 이 일로 하나님께 영광을 돌리십시오.	Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
17	하나님의 집에서부터 심판이 시작될 때가 되었기 때문입니다. 먼저 우리한테서부터 심판이 시작된다면, 하나님의 복음에 순종하지 않는 사람들의 끝은 어떠하겠습니까?	For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
18	또 “의인이 겨우 구원받는다면, 불경건한 죄인은 어디에 있게 되겠습니까?”	And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
19	그러므로 하나님의 뜻에 따라 고난을 겪는 사람들은 선한 일을 하면서, 신실하신 창조주께 자기들의 영혼을 맡겨 드리십시오.	Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
