1	열두 제자를 불러 권한을 주시다 예수님이 열두 제자를 가까이 부르셔서 더러운 영들을 물리칠 권한을 주셨다. 더러운 영들을 쫓아내고, 온갖 질병과 온갖 약한 것을 고쳐 주도록 하시려는 것이었다.	And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
2	열두 사도의 이름은 이렇다. 맨 먼저 베드로라 하는 시몬, 그의 형제 안드레, 세베대의 아들 야고보, 그의 형제 요한,	Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;
3	필립, 바돌로매, 토마스, 세금업자 마태, 알패오의 아들 야고보, 다대오,	Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, whose surname was Thaddeus;
4	열심독립당 당원 시몬, 가룟 사람 유다이다. 유다는 예수님을 넘겨준 사람이기도 하다. (; )	Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
5	열두 제자를 보내시다 이 열둘을 예수님이 보내실 때에 그들에게 명령하셨다. “다른 민족들의 길로 가지 마세요. 또 사마리아 사람들의 도시에 들어가지도 마세요.	These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
6	대신 이스라엘 집의 잃어버린 양들한테로 가세요.	But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7	가면서 선포하세요. ‘하늘나라가 가까이 와 있습니다!’ 하고요.	And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
8	아픈 사람들을 고쳐 주세요. 죽은 사람들을 일으켜 살려 주세요. 심한피부병 앓는 사람들을 깨끗하게 해 주세요. 귀신들을 쫓아내세요. 그냥 받았으니 그냥 주세요.	Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
9	금돈이나 은돈이나 구리돈을 챙겨서 그대들 허리에 두르는 돈주머니에 넣어 가려고 하지 마세요.	Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,
10	길을 나설 때 봇짐이나 갈아입을 통옷이나 샌들이나 지팡이도 챙겨 가지 마세요. 일꾼은 자기 먹을 것을 받을 만하니까요.	Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.
11	어느 도시나 마을에 들어가거든, 그곳에서 그 집에 묵어도 될 만한 사람을 알아보세요. 그리고 떠날 때까지 그 집에서 머무세요.	And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.
12	그 집에 들어가면서 그 집 사람들에게 인사를 건네세요.	And when ye come into an house, salute it.
13	그 집이 그럴 만하면, 그대들이 빌어 준 평화가 그 집에 깃들게 해야 합니다. 그러나 그럴 만하지 않으면, 그대들이 빌어 준 평화가 그대들한테 되돌아오게 해야 합니다.	And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.
14	누구든 그대들을 받아들이지 않고 그대들 말을 듣지 않는 사람이 있다고 합시다. 그러면 그런 사람의 집이나 바로 그 도시 밖으로 나갈 때 그대들 발의 먼지를 떨어내 버리세요.	And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
15	아멘 그대들에게 말합니다. 소돔과 고모라 땅이 심판 날에 그 도시보다 더 잘 버텨 낼 것입니다.” (; )	Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
16	여러 가지 어려움을 겪을 것이라고 하시다 “자, 내가, 그대들을 보내는데, 그대들은 이리들 가운데 양들 같군요. 그러므로 그대들은 뱀처럼 영리하고 비둘기처럼 순수해야 해요.	Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
17	사람들을 주의하세요. 그대들을 지방의회에 넘겨주고, 자기들의 여러 회당에서 그대들을 채찍질할 겁니다.	But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;
18	그대들은 나 때문에 총독들과 임금들 앞에 끌려갈 겁니다. 그들과 여러 민족에게 증언해야 할 겁니다.	And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.
19	사람들이 그대들을 넘겨줄 때, 어떻게 또는 무엇을 말해야 할지 걱정하지 마세요. 그 시간에 해야 할 말을 그대들에게 주실 테니까요.	But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
20	말하는 것은 그대들이 아닙니다. 그대들 아버지의 영이 그대들 안에서 말씀하시는 것입니다.	For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
21	형제가 형제를, 아버지가 자녀를 죽음에 넘겨줄 겁니다. 자녀가 부모에게 들고일어나서 그들을 죽게 할 겁니다.	And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
22	내 이름 때문에 그대들은 모두에게 미움받을 겁니다. 그러나 끝까지 견뎌 낸 사람, 이 사람이야말로 구원받을 겁니다.	And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
23	이 도시에서 사람들이 그대들을 박해하면, 다른 도시로 달아나세요. 아멘 그대들에게 말합니다. 그대들이 이스라엘의 도시들을 다 돌기 전에 반드시 인자가 올 것입니다.	But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.
24	제자는 선생보다 높지 않고, 종도 자기 주인보다 높지 않습니다.	The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.
25	제자가 자기 선생만큼 되고 종이 자기 주인만큼 되면 만족할 만합니다. 사람들이 집주인을 바알세불이라 부른 마당에 집 식구들에게는 훨씬 더할 겁니다.” ()	It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?
26	누구를 두려워해야 할지 말씀하시다 “그러므로 사람들을 두려워하지 마세요. 숨겨 놓은 것치고 들통나지 않을 것이 하나도 없고, 숨겨 둔 것치고 알려지지 않을 것이 없습니다.	Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
27	내가 그대들에게 어둠 속에서 말하는 것을 그대들은 빛 가운데서 말하세요. 그대들이 귓속말로 듣는 것을 옥상 위에서 선포하세요.	What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
28	몸은 죽이더라도 영혼은 죽일 수 없는 이들을 두려워하지 마세요. 대신 영혼도 몸도 죽여 지옥에 보낼 수 있는 분을 두려워하세요.	And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
29	참새 두 마리가 1앗사리온에 팔리지 않나요? 그것들 가운데 하나까지도 그대들의 아버지 모르시게 땅에 떨어지는 일은 없을 겁니다.	Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
30	그런데 그대들로 말하자면, 하나님이 머리카락까지도 다 세어 두셨습니다.	But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31	그러므로 두려워하지 마세요. 그대들은 수두룩한 참새하고는 다릅니다, 그대들은요!” ()	Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
32	사람들 앞에서 그리스도를 인정하라고 하시다 “그러므로 누구라도 나를 사람들 앞에서 인정한다고 합시다. 그러면 나도 역시 그를 내 아버지, 곧 하늘에 계신 분 앞에서 인정할 겁니다.	Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
33	그러나 누구든 사람들 앞에서 나를 인정하지 않는 사람은, 나도 역시 내 아버지, 곧 하늘에 계신 분 앞에서 그를 인정하지 않을 겁니다.” (; )	But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
34	예수님의 사람이 될 만하려면 “내가 땅에다 평화를 안겨 주러 왔다고 생각하지 마세요. 평화가 아니라 칼을 안겨 주러 왔습니다.	Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
35	나는 갈라놓으러 왔습니다. 사람이 아버지를, 딸이 어머니를, 며느리가 시어머니를 거스르게 하려는 것입니다.	For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
36	사람의 원수는 제집 식구들입니다.	And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.
37	아버지나 어머니를 내 위에 두고 더 사랑하는 사람은, 내 사람이 되기에 알맞지 않습니다. 아들이나 딸을 내 위에 두고 더 사랑하는 사람은, 내 사람이 되기에 알맞지 않습니다.	He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
38	자기 십자가를 받아서 메지 않고 내 뒤를 따라오는 사람은 내 사람이 되기에 알맞지 않습니다.	And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
39	자기 목숨을 찾으려는 사람은 잃어버릴 것입니다. 그러나 나 때문에 자기 목숨을 잃는 사람은 찾을 것입니다.” ()	He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
40	맞아들이는 사람이 받을 보상 “그대들을 맞아들이는 사람은 나를 맞아들이는 것입니다. 나를 맞아들이는 사람은 나를 보내신 분을 맞아들이는 것입니다.	He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
41	예언자를 예언자라고 해서 맞아들이는 사람은 예언자의 보상을 받을 것입니다. 의인을 의롭다고 해서 맞아들이는 사람은 의인의 보상을 받을 것입니다.	He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.
42	오로지 제자라고 해서 이 작은 사람들 가운데 하나에게 시원한 물이라도 한 컵 주어 마시도록 하는 사람이 있다고 합시다. 아멘 그대들에게 말합니다. 그런 사람은 누구든 보상을 절대 잃어버리지 않을 것입니다.”	And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
