1	천사가 그리스 왕국들에 대해 알려 주다 “‘내가 메디아 사람 다리우스 첫째 해에 일어선 것은 그를 강하게 해 주고 그에게 피난처가 되어 주기 위함이었소.	Also I in the first year of Darius the Mede, even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him.
2	이제 진실을 내가 그대에게 알려 주겠소. 자, 페르시아를 다스릴 세 임금이 더 일어설 것이오. 그런데 넷째 임금은 앞의 셋 가운데 그 누구보다도 훨씬 더 부유해질 것이오. 그가 그의 부유함으로 강해졌을 때 모두를 부추겨서 그리스 왕국과 맞서게 할 것이오.	And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.
3	그런 다음에는 용맹한 임금이 일어서서 큰 권력으로 다스리고 자기 좋을 대로 행동할 것이오.	And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.
4	그러나 그가 서 있을 때 그의 왕국이 깨져서 하늘의 네 방향으로 갈라질 것이오. 그 왕국은 그의 후손의 것도 되지 못할 것이고, 그가 다스릴 때 휘두르던 권력만 못할 것이오. 그의 왕국은 뿌리 뽑혀서 후손 아닌 다른 사람들에게 돌아갈 것이기 때문이오.	And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those.
5	남쪽 임금이 힘세지겠지만 그의 지휘관들 가운데 한 사람이 있을 것이오. 그 지휘관이 임금보다 더 힘이 있어서 권력으로 왕국을 다스릴 것이고, 그의 통치권은 대단할 것이오.	And the king of the south shall be strong, and one of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion.
6	몇 해 뒤에 남쪽 임금과 북쪽 임금이 서로 동맹을 맺을 것이오. 협약을 탄탄하게 하려고 남쪽 임금의 딸이 북쪽 임금에게 올 것이오. 그러나 딸은 자기 팔의 힘을 유지하지 못할 것이고, 임금도 임금의 힘도 보존되지 못할 것이오. 그래서 딸이 남에게 넘겨질 것이오. 딸을 데려다준 사람들, 딸을 낳아 준 남자, 그때에 딸을 굳세게 붙잡아 주던 사람들도 그렇게 될 것이오.	And in the end of years they shall join themselves together; for the king’s daughter of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the power of the arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm: but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in these times.
7	그러나 딸의 뿌리 가운데서 싹이 하나 임금에 뒤이어 일어설 것이오. 그가 그 군대에 가서 북쪽 임금의 요새로 쳐들어가서, 그들을 혼내 주고는 강한 모습을 드러낼 것이오.	But out of a branch of her roots shall one stand up in his estate, which shall come with an army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail:
8	그는 또한 부어 만든 신상들과 값비싼 은과 금으로 된 그릇들과 함께 그들의 신들을 이집트로 가져갈 것이오, 포로를 사로잡아 가듯이. 그러고서 그는 몇 해 동안 북쪽 임금한테서 떨어져 지낼 것이오.	And shall also carry captives into Egypt their gods, with their princes, and with their precious vessels of silver and of gold; and he shall continue more years than the king of the north.
9	그런데 북쪽 임금이 남쪽 임금의 왕국으로 쳐들어가겠지만, 자신의 땅으로 돌아오게 될 것이오.	So the king of the south shall come into his kingdom, and shall return into his own land.
10	그러나 그의 아들들이 전쟁을 준비하고 수많은 군인 무리를 모을 것이오. 그 무리가 계속 쳐들어가서 물이 흘러넘치듯이 들이닥쳐 지나갈 것이오. 그들이 다시 전쟁을 준비하여 남쪽 임금의 요새에까지 이를 것이오.	But his sons shall be stirred up, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces: and one shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through: then shall he return, and be stirred up, even to his fortress.
11	그러면 남쪽 임금이 크게 화를 내고는 나가서 다름 아닌 북쪽 임금과 전쟁을 벌일 것이오. 북쪽 임금은 큰 무리를 일으킬 것이지만, 그 무리는 남쪽 임금의 손아귀에 들어갈 것이오.	And the king of the south shall be moved with choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north: and he shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand.
12	무리가 끌려갈 때 남쪽 임금의 마음이 높아질 것이오. 그는 수만 명을 쓰러뜨리겠지만, 그가 힘을 계속 떨치지는 못할 것이오.	And when he hath taken away the multitude, his heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down many ten thousands: but he shall not be strengthened by it.
13	북쪽 임금은 돌아가서 처음보다 더 큰 무리를 일으킬 것이오. 그는 몇 해 뒤에 큰 군대와 많은 군수품을 가지고 올 것이오.	For the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years with a great army and with much riches.
14	그 기간에 많은 사람이 남쪽 임금에게 맞서 일어설 것이오. 그대의 백성 가운데 난폭한 사람들이 환상이 이루어지게 하려고 일어날 것이오. 그렇지만 그 사람들은 쓰러질 것이오.	And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbers of thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall.
15	북쪽 임금이 와서 흙언덕을 쌓고 요새로 지어진 도시를 차지할 것이오. 남쪽 병력이 버티지 못할 것이고, 그의 정예병들도 버틸 힘이 없을 것이오.	So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to withstand.
16	남쪽으로 쳐들어온 북쪽 임금은 자기 좋을 대로 행동할 것이오. 그의 앞에서 버틸 사람이 없을 것이오. 그가 영광스러운 땅에 설 것이고, 멸망이 그의 손에 달려 있을 것이오.	But he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed.
17	북쪽 임금은 마음먹고 자기 왕국 전체의 힘을 가지고 가서 남쪽 임금과 협약을 맺고 지킬 것이오. 한 젊은 여자를 남쪽 임금에게 주어 남쪽 왕국을 멸망시키려 할 것이오. 그렇지만 그 일은 이루어지지 못할 것이고, 그를 위한 일이 되지 못할 것이오.	He shall also set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; thus shall he do: and he shall give him the daughter of women, corrupting her: but she shall not stand on his side, neither be for him.
18	북쪽 임금은 자신의 얼굴을 돌려 바닷가 지역으로 가서 많은 곳을 차지하려고 할 것이오. 그렇지만 그가 모욕하는 것을 어떤 장군이 못 하게 할 것이오. 남을 모욕하던 것이 그 자신에게로 돌아가게 할 것이오.	After this shall he turn his face unto the isles, and shall take many: but a prince for his own behalf shall cause the reproach offered by him to cease; without his own reproach he shall cause it to turn upon him.
19	북쪽 임금이 자신의 얼굴을 돌려 자신의 땅의 요새들로 가려 할 것이오. 그렇지만 비틀거리다가 쓰러져서 다시는 보이지 않을 것이오.	Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his own land: but he shall stumble and fall, and not be found.
20	그를 뒤이어 다른 임금이 일어나 세금 거두는 사람을 보내 왕국의 아름다운 곳을 두루 다니게 할 것이오. 그러나 며칠 뒤에는 그가 깨질 것인데, 분노나 전쟁으로 그렇게 되지는 않을 것이오.	Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.
21	그를 뒤이어 일어설 임금은 경멸받을 만한 사람일 것이고, 그에게 왕국의 위엄이 주어지지는 않을 것이오. 사람들이 편안히 지낼 때 그가 와서 달콤한 말로 왕권을 잡아챌 것이오.	And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.
22	큰물 같은 병력도 그의 앞에서부터 떠내려가고 깨질 것이오. 조약을 맺은 통치자도 그렇게 될 것이오.	And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant.
23	그는 그와 동맹을 맺을 때부터 속임수를 쓸 것이오. 그가 올라가 보잘것없는 민족을 거느리고서도 강해질 것이오.	And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.
24	사람들이 편안히 지낼 때 그가 그 지역의 기름진 곳들로 들어갈 것이오. 그러고는 그의 조상들도 하지 않았고 그의 조상들의 조상들도 하지 않은 일을 할 것이오. 그가 빼앗은 것과 약탈한 것과 재물을 그들에게 뿌릴 것이오. 그가 요새들을 칠 계획을 꾸밀 것이지만, 정해진 기간에만 그럴 것이오.	He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.
25	그는 자신의 힘과 마음을 일깨워서 큰 군대를 이끌고 남쪽 임금을 공격할 것이오. 남쪽 임금도 매우 강하고 큰 군대를 이끌고 전쟁에 대비할 것이오. 그렇지만 버티지 못할 것이오. 사람들이 남쪽 임금에게 맞서려고 계획을 세울 것이기 때문이오.	And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him.
26	남쪽 임금의 음식을 먹는 사람들이 그를 쳐부술 것이고, 그의 군대가 떠내려갈 것이오. 많은 사람들이 칼에 찔려 쓰러질 것이오.	Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain.
27	두 임금을 두고 말하자면, 그들은 속으로 해칠 생각을 하고, 한 식탁에서 거짓을 말할 것이오. 그러나 일이 성공하지 못할 것이오. 아직 정해진 때의 끝이 오지 않았기 때문이오.	And both these kings’ hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.
28	북쪽 임금은 많은 재물을 가지고서 자신의 땅으로 돌아갈 것인데, 그의 마음은 거룩한 언약을 거스를 것이오. 그렇게 하고서 자신의 땅으로 돌아갈 것이오.	Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land.
29	정해진 때 북쪽 임금이 다시 남쪽으로 쳐내려오겠지만, 이번이 처음 같지는 않을 것이오.	At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter.
30	키프로스의 배들이 그를 공격하러 오면, 북쪽 임금이 놀라서 물러날 것이오. 그는 돌아서서 거룩한 언약을 저주하는 말을 하고 그렇게 행동할 것이오. 그러고는 돌아가서 거룩한 언약을 저버린 사람들에게 마음을 쏟을 것이오.	For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.
31	북쪽 임금한테서부터 군대가 일어설 것이오. 그들이 거룩한 장소 곧 요새를 속되게 만들 것이오. 날마다 바치는 제물을 없애 버리고, 황폐하게 하는 밉살스러운 우상을 세울 것이오.	And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.
32	그는 언약을 어기고 악한 짓을 저지르는 사람들을 달콤한 말들로 더럽힐 것이오. 그러나 자신들의 하나님을 아는 백성은 강하게 버티고 그렇게 행동할 것이오.	And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
33	백성 가운데 슬기로운 사람들이 많은 사람들에게 깨달음을 줄 것이오. 그러나 그들은 칼과 불꽃과 사로잡힘과 빼앗김으로 얼마 동안은 비틀대다가 넘어질 것이오.	And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.
34	그들이 넘어질 때 조금은 도움받을 것이고, 많은 사람들이 달콤한 말로 그들과 함께할 것이오.	Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.
35	슬기로운 사람들 가운데 몇 사람은 넘어질 것이오. 마지막 때까지 녹여지고 깨끗해지고 하얘질 것이오. 정해진 때가 아직 닥치지 않았기 때문이오.	And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.
36	북쪽 임금은 자기 좋을 대로 행동할 것이오. 스스로를 높이고 건방지게 굴며 그 어떤 신보다 높다고 여길 것이오. 신들의 신을 거슬러 엄청난 말을 할 것이오. 노여움이 다할 때까지는 잘될 것이오. 결정된 일이 이루어질 것이기 때문이오.	And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
37	북쪽 임금은 자신의 조상들의 신들에게 관심을 두지 않을 것이오. 여자들의 사랑을 받는 신에게도, 그 어떤 신에게도 관심을 두지 않을 것이오. 그가 건방지게 굴며 스스로를 그 어떤 것보다도 크게 여길 것이기 때문이오.	Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.
38	그런 신 대신에 북쪽 임금은 요새들의 신을 떠받들 것이오. 그의 조상들이 알지 못하던 신을 금과 은과 값진 보석과 귀한 것들로 떠받들 것이오.	But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
39	북쪽 임금은 튼튼한 요새들을 다른 나라 신과 함께 공격하려고 행동할 것이오. 자신을 인정하는 사람들에게 큰 영광을 줄 것이오. 그들을 많은 사람들을 다스리는 통치자로 삼고, 땅도 상으로 나누어 줄 것이오.	Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.
40	마지막 때 남쪽 임금이 북쪽 임금에게 전쟁을 걸어올 것이오. 북쪽 임금은 전투수레와 기마병과 많은 배로 남쪽 임금을 폭풍처럼 덮칠 것이오. 여러 나라 땅에 들어가서 큰물처럼 휩쓸고 지나갈 것이오.	And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
41	영광스러운 땅으로 북쪽 임금이 쳐들어갈 것이고, 많은 사람이 걸려 넘어질 것이오. 그러나 그의 손아귀에서 빠져나올 사람들이 있을 것이오. 에돔과 모압이, 또 암몬 사람들의 우두머리들이 그럴 것이오.	He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.
42	북쪽 임금이 여러 나라 땅에 손을 뻗을 것이고, 이집트 땅도 빠져나가지 못할 것이오.	He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
43	북쪽 임금이 금은 보물과 이집트의 모든 값진 것을 맘대로 할 것이오. 리비아 사람들과 에티오피아 사람들이 그의 발자국을 따라갈 것이오.	But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.
44	그러나 소문들이 동쪽과 북쪽에서 들려와서 북쪽 임금에게 겁을 집어먹게 할 것이오. 그는 몹시 분노하면서 나가서, 많은 사람을 죽이고 완전히 없애 버리려 할 것이오.	But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.
45	북쪽 임금은 자신의 천막 궁전을 바다와 거룩하고 영광스러운 산 사이에 세울 것이오. 그런 다음에는 그의 마지막이 닥칠 것이고, 그를 도와줄 사람이 없을 것이오.’”	And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
