| 3 | ngabe basiginya siphila, ekuvutheni kolaka lwabo kithi; | Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us: |
| 4 | ngabe amanzi agijima phezu kwethu, lempophoma yedlula phezu komphefumulo wethu; | Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul: |
| 5 | ngabe amanzi aqubukayo edlula phezu komphefumulo wethu. | Then the proud waters had gone over our soul. |
| 6 | Kayibongwe iNkosi, engasinikelanga ukuthi sibe yimpango emazinyweni abo. | Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. |
