절Greek ModernKing James Version
Και εσάς όντας νεκρούς διά τας παραβάσεις και τας αμαρτίας εζωοποίησεν, And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
εις τας οποίας περιεπατήσατέ ποτέ κατά το πολίτευμα του κόσμου τούτου, κατά τον άρχοντα της εξουσίας του αέρος, του πνεύματος το οποίον ενεργεί την σήμερον εις τους υιούς της απειθείας· Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
μεταξύ των οποίων και ημείς πάντες ανεστράφημέν ποτέ κατά τας επιθυμίας της σαρκός ημών, πράττοντες τα θελήματα της σαρκός και των διαλογισμών, και ήμεθα εκ φύσεως τέκνα οργής, ως και οι λοιποί· Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
ο Θεός όμως πλούσιος ων εις έλεος, διά την πολλήν αγάπην αυτού με την οποίαν ηγάπησεν ημάς, But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
και ενώ ήμεθα νεκροί διά τα αμαρτήματα, εζωοποίησεν ημάς μετά του Χριστού· κατά χάριν είσθε σεσωσμένοι· Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
και συνανέστησε και συνεκάθισεν εν τοις επουρανίοις διά Ιησού Χριστού, And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
διά να δείξη εις τους επερχομένους αιώνας τον υπερβάλλοντα πλούτον της χάριτος αυτού διά της προς ημάς αγαθότητος εν Χριστώ Ιησού. That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Διότι κατά χάριν είσθε σεσωσμένοι διά της πίστεως· και τούτο δεν είναι από σας, Θεού το δώρον· For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
ουχί εξ έργων, διά να μη καυχηθή τις. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Διά τούτο ενθυμείσθε ότι σεις οι ποτέ εθνικοί κατά σάρκα, οι λεγόμενοι ακροβυστία υπό της λεγομένης περιτομής της χειροποιήτου εν τη σαρκί, Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
Τώρα όμως διά του Ιησού Χριστού σεις οι ποτέ όντες μακράν εγείνετε πλησίον διά του αίματος του Χριστού. But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Διότι αυτός είναι η ειρήνη ημών, όστις έκαμε τα δύο εν και έλυσε το μεσότοιχον του φραγμού, For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
καταργήσας την έχθραν εν τη σαρκί αυτού, τον νόμον των εντολών των εν τοις διατάγμασι, διά να κτίση εις εαυτόν τους δύο εις ένα νέον άνθρωπον, φέρων ειρήνην, Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
Και ελθών εκήρυξεν ευαγγέλιον ειρήνης εις εσάς τους μακράν και εις τους πλησίον, And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Άρα λοιπόν δεν είσθε πλέον ξένοι και πάροικοι αλλά συμπολίται των αγίων και οικείοι του Θεού, Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
εποικοδομηθέντες επί το θεμέλιον των αποστόλων και προφητών, όντος ακρογωνιαίου λίθου αυτού του Ιησού Χριστού· And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
εν τω οποίω πάσα η οικοδομή συναρμολογουμένη αυξάνεται εις ναόν άγιον εν Κυρίω· In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
εν τω οποίω και σεις συνοικοδομείσθε εις κατοικητήριον του Θεού διά του Πνεύματος. In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
