| Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
| But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
Και νομίζεις τούτο, ω άνθρωπε, συ ο κρίνων τους πράττοντας τα τοιαύτα και πράττων αυτά, ότι θέλεις εκφύγει την κρίσιν του Θεού; | And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
Η καταφρονείς τον πλούτον της χρηστότητος αυτού και της υπομονής και της μακροθυμίας, αγνοών ότι η χρηστότης του Θεού σε φέρει εις μετάνοιαν; | Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
διά δε την σκληρότητά σου και αμετανόητον καρδίαν θησαυρίζεις εις σεαυτόν οργήν εν τη ημέρα της οργής και της αποκαλύψεως της δικαιοκρισίας του Θεού, | But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
όστις θέλει αποδώσει εις έκαστον κατά τα έργα αυτού, | Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
εις μεν τους ζητούντας δι' υπομονής έργου αγαθού, δόξαν και τιμήν και αφθαρσίαν ζωήν αιώνιον, | To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
εις δε τους φιλονείκους και απειθούντας μεν εις την αλήθειαν, πειθομένους δε εις την αδικίαν θέλει είσθαι θυμός και οργή, | But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
θλίψις και στενοχωρία επί πάσαν ψυχήν ανθρώπου του εργαζομένου το κακόν, Ιουδαίου τε πρώτον και Ελληνος· | Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
δόξα δε και τιμή και ειρήνη εις πάντα τον εργαζόμενον το αγαθόν, Ιουδαίόν τε πρώτον και Ελληνα· | But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
επειδή δεν είναι προσωποληψία παρά τω Θεώ. | For there is no respect of persons with God.
Διότι όσοι ημάρτησαν χωρίς νόμου, θέλουσι και απολεσθή χωρίς νόμου· και όσοι ημάρτησαν υπό νόμον, θέλουσι κριθή διά νόμου. | For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
| (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
Επειδή όταν οι εθνικοί οι μη έχοντες νόμον πράττωσιν εκ φύσεως τα του νόμου, ούτοι νόμον μη έχοντες είναι νόμος εις εαυτούς, | For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
οίτινες δεικνύουσι το έργον του νόμου γεγραμμένον εν ταις καρδίαις αυτών, έχοντες συμμαρτυρούσαν την συνείδησιν αυτών και τους λογισμούς κατηγορούντας ή και απολογουμένους μεταξύ αλλήλων, | Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
| In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
Ιδού, συ επονομάζεσαι Ιουδαίος και επαναπαύεσαι εις τον νόμον και καυχάσαι εις τον Θεόν, | Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
και γνωρίζεις το θέλημα αυτού και διακρίνεις τα διαφέροντα, διδασκόμενος υπό του νόμου, | And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;
και έχεις πεποίθησιν εις σεαυτόν ότι είσαι οδηγός τυφλών, φως των εν σκότει, | And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
| An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
Ο διδάσκων λοιπόν άλλον σεαυτόν δεν διδάσκεις; ο κηρύττων να μη κλέπτωσι κλέπτεις; | Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
ο λέγων να μη μοιχεύωσι μοιχεύεις; ο βδελυττόμενος τα είδωλα ιεροσυλείς; | Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
ο καυχώμενος εις τον νόμον, ατιμάζεις τον Θεόν διά της παραβάσεως του νόμου; | Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?
| For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
| For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
Εάν λοιπόν ο απερίτμητος φυλάττη τα διατάγματα του νόμου, η ακροβυστία αυτού δεν θέλει λογισθή αντί περιτομής; | Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
| And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?
Διότι Ιουδαίος δεν είναι ο εν τω φανερώ Ιουδαίος, ουδέ περιτομή η εν τω φανερώ η γινομένη εν σαρκί, | For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
αλλ' Ιουδαίος είναι ο εν τω κρυπτώ Ιουδαίος, και περιτομή η της καρδίας κατά πνεύμα, ουχί κατά γράμμα, του οποίου ο έπαινος είναι ουχί εξ ανθρώπων, αλλ' εκ του Θεού. | But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
