| 1 | യിസ്രായേൽ പടൎന്നിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു മുന്തിരിവള്ളി ആകുന്നു; അവൻ ഫലം കായിക്കുന്നു; തന്റെ ഫലത്തിന്റെ ബഹുത്വത്തിന്നു തക്കവണ്ണം അവൻ ബലിപീഠങ്ങളെ വൎദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചു; തന്റെ ദേശത്തിന്റെ നന്മെക്കു തക്കവണ്ണം അവൻ ഭംഗിയുള്ള വിഗ്രഹസ്തംഭങ്ങളെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി. | Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images. |
| 2 | അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം ഭിന്നിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇപ്പോൾ അവർ കുറ്റക്കാരായ്തീരും; അവൻ അവരുടെ ബലിപീഠങ്ങളെ ഇടിച്ചുകളകയും അവരുടെ വിഗ്രഹസ്തംഭങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യും. | Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images. |
| 3 | ഇപ്പോൾ അവൻ: നമുക്കു രാജാവില്ല; നാം യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നില്ലല്ലോ; രാജാവു നമുക്കുവേണ്ടി എന്തു ചെയ്യും? എന്നുപറയും. | For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the Lord; what then should a king do to us? |
| 4 | അവർ വ്യൎത്ഥവാക്കുകൾ സംസാരിച്ചു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്യുന്നതിൽ കള്ളസ്സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ന്യായവിധി വയലിലെ ഉഴച്ചാലുകളിൽ നഞ്ചുചെടിപോലെ മുളെച്ചുവരുന്നു. | They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field. |
| 5 | ശമൎയ്യാ നിവാസികൾ ബേത്ത്-ആവെനിലെ കാളക്കുട്ടിയെക്കുറിച്ചു പേടിക്കുന്നു; അതിലെ ജനം അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ദുഃഖിക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ പൂജാരികൾ അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചും അതിന്റെ മഹത്വം അതിനെ വിട്ടുപോയതുകൊണ്ടു അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചും വിറെക്കുന്നു. | The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Beth–aven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it. |
| 6 | അതിനെയും യുദ്ധതല്പരനായ രാജാവിന്നു സമ്മാനമായി അശ്ശൂരിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകും; എഫ്രയീം ലജ്ജ പ്രാപിക്കും; യിസ്രായേൽ തന്റെ ആലോചനയെക്കുറിച്ചു ലജ്ജിക്കും. | It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel. |
| 7 | ശമൎയ്യയോ, അതിന്റെ രാജാവു വെള്ളത്തിലെ ചുള്ളിപോലെ നശിച്ചുപോകും. | As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the water. |
| 8 | യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പാപമായിരിക്കുന്ന ആവെനിലെ പൂജാഗിരികൾ നശിച്ചുപോകും; മുള്ളും പറക്കാരയും അവരുടെ ബലിപീഠങ്ങളിന്മേൽ മുളെക്കും; അവർ മലകളോടു: ഞങ്ങളുടെമേൽ വീഴുവിൻ എന്നും പറയും. | The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us. |
| 9 | യിസ്രായേലേ, ഗിബെയയുടെ കാലംമുതൽ നീ പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ അവിടെത്തന്നേ നില്ക്കുന്നു; ഗിബെയയിൽ നീതികെട്ടവരോടുള്ള പട അവരെ എത്തിപ്പിടിച്ചില്ല; | O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them. |
| 10 | ഞാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കും; അവരെ അവരുടെ രണ്ടു അകൃത്യം നിമിത്തം ശിക്ഷിക്കുമ്പോൾ ജാതികൾ അവരുടെ നേരെ കൂടിവരും. | It is in my desire that I should chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows. |
| 11 | എഫ്രയീം മരുക്കമുള്ളതും ധാന്യം മെതിപ്പാൻ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നതുമായ പശുക്കിടാവു ആകുന്നു; ഞാൻ അതിന്റെ ഭംഗിയുള്ള കഴുത്തിൽ നുകം വെക്കും; ഞാൻ എഫ്രയീമിനെ നുകത്തിൽ പിണെക്കും; യെഹൂദാ ഉഴുകയും യാക്കോബ് കട്ട ഉടെക്കുകയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടിവരും. | And Ephraim is as an heifer that is taught, and loveth to tread out the corn; but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow, and Jacob shall break his clods. |
| 12 | നീതിയിൽ വിതെപ്പിൻ; ദയെക്കൊത്തവണ്ണം കൊയ്യുവിൻ; നിങ്ങളുടെ തരിശുനിലം ഉഴുവിൻ; യഹോവ വന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ മേൽ നീതി വൎഷിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാനുള്ള കാലം ആകുന്നുവല്ലോ. | Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. |
| 13 | നിങ്ങൾ ദുഷ്ടത ഉഴുതു, നീതികേടു കൊയ്തു, ഭോഷ്കിന്റെ ഫലം തിന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ നിന്റെ വഴിയിലും നിന്റെ വീരന്മാരുടെ സംഘത്തിലും ആശ്രയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. | Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men. |
| 14 | അതുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയിൽ ഒരു കലഹം ഉണ്ടാകും; യുദ്ധദിവസത്തിൽ ശൽമാൻ ബേത്ത്-അർബ്ബേലിനെ നശിപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ നിന്റെ എല്ലാ കോട്ടകൾക്കും നാശം വരും; അവർ അമ്മയെ മക്കളോടുകൂടെ തകൎത്തുകളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ. | Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Beth–arbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children. |
| 15 | അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ അവർ നിങ്ങളുടെ മഹാദുഷ്ടതനിമിത്തം ബേഥേലിൽവെച്ചു നിങ്ങൾക്കും ചെയ്യും; പുലൎച്ചെക്കു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു അശേഷം നശിച്ചുപോകും. | So shall Beth–el do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off. |
