1 പ്രബോധനം ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവൻ പരിജ്ഞാനം ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നു; ശാസന വെറുക്കുന്നവനോ മൃഗപ്രായൻ. Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.
2 ഉത്തമൻ യഹോവയോടു പ്രസാദം പ്രാപിക്കുന്നു; ദുരുപായിക്കോ അവൻ ശിക്ഷ വിധിക്കുന്നു. A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
3 ഒരു മനുഷ്യനും ദുഷ്ടതകൊണ്ടു സ്ഥിരപ്പെടുകയില്ല; നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ വേരോ ഇളകിപ്പോകയില്ല. A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
4 സാമൎത്ഥ്യമുള്ള സ്ത്രീ ഭൎത്താവിന്നു ഒരു കിരീടം; നാണംകെട്ടവളോ അവന്റെ അസ്ഥികൾക്കു ദ്രവത്വം. A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
5 നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ വിചാരങ്ങൾ ന്യായം, ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ നിരൂപണങ്ങളോ ചതിവത്രെ. The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
6 ദുഷ്ടന്മാർ പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാൻ പറഞ്ഞൊക്കുന്നു; നേരുള്ളവരുടെ വാക്കോ അവരെ വിടുവിക്കുന്നു. The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
7 ദുഷ്ടന്മാർ മറിഞ്ഞുവീണു ഇല്ലാതെയാകും; നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ ഭവനമോ നിലനില്ക്കും. The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.
8 മനുഷ്യൻ തന്റെ ബുദ്ധിക്കു ഒത്തവണ്ണം ശ്ലാഘിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു; വക്രബുദ്ധിയോ നിന്ദിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
9 മാന്യഭാവം നടിച്ചിട്ടും ഉപജീവനത്തിന്നു മുട്ടുള്ളവനെക്കാൾ ലഘുവായി മതിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടും ഒരു ഭൃത്യനുള്ളവൻ ശ്രേഷ്ഠൻ ആകുന്നു. He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
10 നീതിമാൻ തന്റെ മൃഗത്തിന്റെ പ്രാണാനുഭവം അറിയുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ഉള്ളമോ ക്രൂരമത്രെ. A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
11 നിലം കൃഷി ചെയ്യുന്നവന്നു ആഹാരം സമൃദ്ധിയായി കിട്ടും; നിസ്സാരന്മാരെ പിൻചെല്ലുന്നവനോ ബുദ്ധിഹീനൻ. He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.
12 ദുഷ്ടൻ ദോഷികളുടെ കവൎച്ച ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു; നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ വേരോ ഫലം നല്കുന്നു. The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.
13 അധരങ്ങളുടെ ലംഘനത്തിൽ വല്ലാത്ത കണിയുണ്ടു; നീതിമാനോ കഷ്ടത്തിൽനിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോരും. The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
14 തന്റെ വായുടെ ഫലത്താൽ മനുഷ്യൻ നന്മ അനുഭവിച്ചു തൃപ്തനാകും; തന്റെ കൈകളുടെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കു തക്കവണ്ണം അവന്നു കിട്ടും. A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.
15 ഭോഷന്നു തന്റെ വഴി ചൊവ്വായ്തോന്നുന്നു; ജ്ഞാനിയോ ആലോചന കേട്ടനുസരിക്കുന്നു. The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.
16 ഭോഷന്റെ നീരസം തൽക്ഷണം വെളിപ്പെടുന്നു; വിവേകമുള്ളവനോ ലജ്ജ അടക്കിവെക്കുന്നു. A fool’s wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.
17 സത്യം പറയുന്നവൻ നീതി അറിയിക്കുന്നു; കള്ളസാക്ഷിയോ വഞ്ചന അറിയിക്കുന്നു. He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
18 വാളുകൊണ്ടു കുത്തുംപോലെ മൂൎച്ചയായി സംസാരിക്കുന്നവർ ഉണ്ടു; ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ നാവോ സുഖപ്രദം. There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
19 സത്യം പറയുന്ന അധരം എന്നേക്കും നിലനില്ക്കും; വ്യാജം പറയുന്ന നാവോ മാത്രനേരത്തേക്കേയുള്ളു. The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
20 ദോഷം നിരൂപിക്കുന്നവരുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ചതിവു ഉണ്ടു; സമാധാനം ആലോചിക്കുന്നവൎക്കോ സന്തോഷം ഉണ്ടു. Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
21 നീതിമാന്നു ഒരു തിന്മയും ഭവിക്കയില്ല; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരോ അനൎത്ഥംകൊണ്ടു നിറയും. There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
22 വ്യാജമുള്ള അധരങ്ങൾ യഹോവെക്കു വെറുപ്പു; സത്യം പ്രവൎത്തിക്കുന്നവരോ അവന്നു പ്രസാദം. Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.
23 വിവേകമുള്ള മനുഷ്യൻ പരിജ്ഞാനം അടക്കിവെക്കുന്നു; ഭോഷന്മാരുടെ ഹൃദയമോ ഭോഷത്വം പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു. A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
24 ഉത്സാഹികളുടെ കൈ അധികാരം നടത്തും; മടിയനോ ഊഴിയവേലെക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവരും. The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.
25 മനോവ്യസനം ഹേതുവായി മനുഷ്യന്റെ മനസ്സിടിയുന്നു; ഒരു നല്ല വാക്കോ അതിനെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.
26 നീതിമാൻ കൂട്ടുകാരന്നു വഴികാട്ടിയാകുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വഴിയോ അവരെ തെറ്റി നടക്കുമാറാക്കുന്നു. The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.
27 മടിയൻ ഒന്നും വേട്ടയാടിപ്പിടിക്കുന്നില്ല; ഉത്സാഹമോ മനുഷ്യന്നു വിലയേറിയ സമ്പത്താകുന്നു. The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
28 നീതിയുടെ മാൎഗ്ഗത്തിൽ ജീവനുണ്ടു; അതിന്റെ പാതയിൽ മരണം ഇല്ല. In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
