1 അതിന്നു ഇയ്യോബ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: But Job answered and said,
2 എന്റെ വാക്കു ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ കേൾപ്പിൻ; അതു നിങ്ങൾക്കു ആശ്വാസമായിരിക്കട്ടെ. Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.
3 നില്പിൻ, ഞാനും സംസാരിക്കട്ടെ; ഞാൻ സംസാരിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു നിനക്കു പരിഹസിക്കാം. Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.
4 ഞാൻ സങ്കടം പറയുന്നതു മനുഷ്യനോടോ? എന്റെ ക്ഷമ അറ്റുപോകാതിരിക്കുന്നതെങ്ങനെ? As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?
5 എന്നെ നോക്കി ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോകുവിൻ; കൈകൊണ്ടു വായ്പൊത്തിക്കൊൾവിൻ. Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.
6 ഓൎക്കുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ ഞെട്ടിപ്പോകുന്നു; എന്റെ ദേഹത്തിന്നു വിറയൽ പിടിക്കുന്നു. Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.
7 ദുഷ്ടന്മാർ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു വാൎദ്ധക്യം പ്രാപിക്കയും അവൎക്കു ബലം വൎദ്ധിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തു? Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?
8 അവരുടെ സന്താനം അവരോടുകൂടെ അവരുടെ മുമ്പിലും അവരുടെ വംശം അവർ കാൺകെയും ഉറെച്ചു നില്ക്കുന്നു. Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.
9 അവരുടെ വീടുകൾ ഭയം കൂടാതെ സുഖമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വടി അവരുടെമേൽ വരുന്നതുമില്ല. Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.
10 അവരുടെ കാള ഇണചേരുന്നു, നിഷ്ഫലമാകുന്നില്ല; അവരുടെ പശു കിടാവിടുന്നു കരു അഴിയുന്നതുമില്ല. Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.
11 അവർ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടത്തെപ്പോലെ പുറത്തയക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ പൈതങ്ങൾ നൃത്തം ചെയ്യുന്നു. They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.
12 അവർ തപ്പോടും കിന്നരത്തോടുംകൂടെ പാടുന്നു; കുഴലിന്റെ നാദത്തിങ്കൽ സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു. They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.
13 അവർ സുഖമായി നാൾ കഴിക്കുന്നു; മാത്രകൊണ്ടു പാതാളത്തിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങുന്നു. They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.
14 അവർ ദൈവത്തോടു: ഞങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുപോക; നിന്റെ വഴികളെ അറിവാൻ ഞങ്ങൾ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല; Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.
15 ഞങ്ങൾ സൎവ്വശക്തനെ സേവിപ്പാൻ അവൻ ആർ? അവനോടു പ്രാൎത്ഥിച്ചാൽ എന്തു പ്രയോജനം എന്നു പറയുന്നു. What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?
16 എന്നാൽ അവരുടെ ഭാഗ്യം അവൎക്കു കൈവശമല്ല; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ആലോചന എന്നോടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. Lo, their good is not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
17 ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വിളക്കു കെട്ടുപോകുന്നതും അവൎക്കു ആപത്തു വരുന്നതും ദൈവം കോപത്തിൽ കഷ്ടങ്ങളെ വിഭാഗിച്ചു കൊടുക്കുന്നതും എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം! How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.
18 അവർ കാറ്റിന്നു മുമ്പിൽ താളടിപോലെയും കൊടുങ്കാറ്റു പറപ്പിക്കുന്ന പതിർപോലെയും ആകുന്നു. They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away.
19 ദൈവം അവന്റെ അകൃത്യം അവന്റെ മക്കൾക്കായി സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുവെക്കുന്നു; അവൻ അതു അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്നു തന്നേ പകരം കൊടുക്കട്ടെ. God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know it.
20 അവന്റെ സ്വന്ത കണ്ണു അവന്റെ നാശം കാണട്ടെ; അവൻ തന്നേ സൎവ്വശക്തന്റെ ക്രോധം കുടിക്കട്ടെ; His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
21 അവന്റെ മാസങ്ങളുടെ സംഖ്യ അറ്റുപോയാൽ തന്റെശേഷം തന്റെ ഭവനത്തോടു അവനെന്തു താല്പൎയ്യം? For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst?
22 ആരെങ്കിലും ദൈവത്തിന്നു ബുദ്ധിയുപദേശിക്കുമോ? അവൻ ഉന്നതന്മാരെ ന്യായം വിധിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ. Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.
23 ഒരുത്തൻ കേവലം സ്വൈരവും സ്വസ്ഥതയുമുള്ളവനായി തന്റെ പൂൎണ്ണക്ഷേമത്തിൽ മരിക്കുന്നു. One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.
24 അവന്റെ തൊട്ടികൾ പാലുകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ അസ്ഥികളിലെ മജ്ജ അയഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.
25 മറ്റൊരുത്തൻ മനോവ്യസനത്തോടെ മരിക്കുന്നു; നന്മയൊന്നും അനുഭവിപ്പാൻ ഇടവരുന്നതുമില്ല. And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.
26 അവർ ഒരുപോലെ പൊടിയിൽ കിടക്കുന്നു; കൃമി അവരെ മൂടുന്നു. They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.
27 ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ വിചാരങ്ങളെയും നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ നേരെ നിരൂപിക്കുന്ന ഉപായങ്ങളെയും അറിയുന്നു. Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me.
28 പ്രഭുവിന്റെ ഭവനം എവിടെ? ദുഷ്ടന്മാർ പാൎത്ത കൂടാരം എവിടെ എന്നല്ലോ നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നതു? For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?
29 വഴിപോക്കരോടു നിങ്ങൾ ചോദിച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ? അവരുടെ അടയാളങ്ങളെ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ? Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens,
30 അനൎത്ഥദിവസത്തിൽ ദുഷ്ടൻ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു; ക്രോധദിവസത്തിൽ അവൎക്കു വിടുതൽ കിട്ടുന്നു. That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.
31 അവന്റെ നടപ്പിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ആർ അവന്റെ മുഖത്തു നോക്കി പറയും? അവൻ ചെയ്തതിന്നു തക്കവണ്ണം ആർ അവന്നു പകരം വീട്ടും? Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?
32 എന്നാലും അവനെ ശ്മശാനത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നു; അവൻ കല്ലറെക്കൽ കാവൽനില്ക്കുന്നു. Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.
33 താഴ്വരയിലെ കട്ട അവന്നു മധുരമായിരിക്കും; അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ സകലമനുഷ്യരും ചെല്ലും; അവന്നു മുമ്പെ പോയവൎക്കു എണ്ണമില്ല. The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him.
34 നിങ്ങൾ വൃഥാ എന്നെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ? നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉത്തരങ്ങളിൽ കപടം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ. How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood?
