1 അവൻ കടന്നുപോകുമ്പോൾ പിറവിയിലേ കുരുടനായോരു മനുഷ്യനെ കണ്ടു. And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2 അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അവനോടു: റബ്ബീ, ഇവൻ കുരുടനായി പിറക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം ആർ പാപം ചെയ്തു? ഇവനോ ഇവന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാരോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 അതിന്നു യേശു: അവൻ എങ്കിലും അവന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാരെങ്കിലും പാപം ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ല, ദൈവപ്രവൃത്തി അവങ്കൽ വെളിവാകേണ്ടതിന്നത്രേ. Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4 എന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി പകൽ ഉള്ളേടത്തോളം നാം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതാകുന്നു; ആൎക്കും പ്രവൎത്തിച്ചുകൂടാത്ത രാത്രി വരുന്നു. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5 ഞാൻ ലോകത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ലോകത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചം ആകുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6 ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവൻ നിലത്തു തുപ്പി തുപ്പൽകൊണ്ടു ചേറുണ്ടാക്കി ചേറു അവന്റെ കണ്ണിന്മേൽ പൂശി: When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7 നീ ചെന്നു ശിലോഹാംകുളത്തിൽ കഴുകുക എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു; ശിലോഹാം എന്നതിന്നു അയക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ എന്നൎത്ഥം. അവൻ പോയി കഴുകി, കണ്ണു കാണുന്നവനായി മടങ്ങിവന്നു. And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
8 അയല്ക്കാരും അവനെ മുമ്പെ ഇരക്കുന്നവനായി കണ്ടവരും: ഇവനല്ലയോ അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു ഭിക്ഷ യാചിച്ചവൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
9 അവൻ തന്നേ എന്നു ചിലരും അല്ല, അവനെപ്പോലെയുള്ളവൻ എന്നു മറ്റുചിലരും പറഞ്ഞു; ഞാൻ തന്നേ എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
10 അവർ അവനോടു: നിന്റെ കണ്ണു തുറന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവൻ: Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?
11 യേശു എന്നു പേരുള്ള മനുഷ്യൻ ചേറുണ്ടാക്കി എന്റെ കണ്ണിന്മേൽ പൂശി: ശിലോഹാംകുളത്തിൽ ചെന്നു കഴുകുക എന്നു എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു; ഞാൻ പോയി കഴുകി കാഴ്ച പ്രാപിച്ചു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
12 അവൻ എവിടെ എന്നു അവർ അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നില്ല എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
13 കുരുടനായിരുന്നവനെ അവർ പരീശന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുപോയി. They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.
14 യേശു ചേറുണ്ടാക്കി അവന്റെ കണ്ണു തുറന്നതു ശബ്ബത്ത് നാളിൽ ആയിരുന്നു. And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
15 അവൻ കാഴ്ച പ്രാപിച്ചതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പരീശന്മാരും അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു. അവൻ അവരോടു: അവൻ എന്റെ കണ്ണിന്മേൽ ചേറു തേച്ചു ഞാൻ കഴുകി; കാഴ്ച പ്രാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
16 പരീശന്മാരിൽ ചിലർ: ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ ശബ്ബത്ത് പ്രമാണിക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽനിന്നു വന്നവനല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. മറ്റു ചിലർ: പാപിയായോരു മനുഷ്യന്നു ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള അടയാളങ്ങൾ ചെയ്‌വാൻ എങ്ങനെ കഴിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഒരു ഭിന്നത ഉണ്ടായി. Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
17 അവർ പിന്നെയും കുരുടനോടു: നിന്റെ കണ്ണു തുറന്നതുകൊണ്ടു നീ അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു എന്തു പറയുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: അവൻ ഒരു പ്രവാചകൻ എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
18 കാഴ്ച പ്രാപിച്ചവന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാരെ വിളിച്ചു ചോദിക്കുവോളം അവൻ കുരുടനായിരുന്നു എന്നും കാഴ്ച പ്രാപിച്ചു എന്നും യെഹൂദന്മാർ വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല. But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
19 കുരുടനായി ജനിച്ചു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ മകൻ ഇവൻ തന്നേയോ? എന്നാൽ അവന്നു ഇപ്പോൾ കണ്ണു കാണുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു അവർ അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു. And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
20 അവന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാർ: ഇവൻ ഞങ്ങളുടെ മകൻ എന്നും കുരുടനായി ജനിച്ചവൻ എന്നും ഞങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നു. His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
21 എന്നാൽ കണ്ണു കാണുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു അറിയുന്നില്ല; അവന്റെ കണ്ണു ആർ തുറന്നു എന്നും അറിയുന്നില്ല; അവനോടു ചോദിപ്പിൻ; അവന്നു പ്രായം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; അവൻ തന്നേ പറയും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
22 യെഹൂദന്മാരെ ഭയപ്പെടുകകൊണ്ടത്രേ അവന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാർ ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞതു; അവനെ ക്രിസ്തു എന്നു ഏറ്റുപറയുന്നവൻ പള്ളിഭ്രഷ്ടനാകേണം എന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാർ തമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞൊത്തിരുന്നു These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
23 അതുകൊണ്ടത്രേ അവന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാർ: അവന്നു പ്രായം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; അവനോടു ചോദിപ്പിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതു. Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
24 കുരുടനായിരുന്ന മനുഷ്യനെ അവർ രണ്ടാമതും വിളിച്ചു: ദൈവത്തിന്നു മഹത്വം കൊടുക്ക; ആ മനുഷ്യൻ പാപി എന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
25 അതിന്നു അവൻ: അവൻ പാപിയോ അല്ലയോ എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നില്ല; ഒന്നു അറിയുന്നു; ഞാൻ കുരുടനായിരുന്നു, ഇപ്പോൾ കണ്ണു കാണുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
26 അവർ അവനോടു: അവൻ നിനക്കു എന്തു ചെയ്തു? നിന്റെ കണ്ണു എങ്ങനെ തുറന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?
27 അതിന്നു അവൻ: ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; നിങ്ങൾ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചില്ല; വീണ്ടും കേൾപ്പാൻ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? നിങ്ങൾക്കും അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ ആകുവാൻ മനസ്സുണ്ടോ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?
28 അപ്പോൾ അവർ അവനെ ശകാരിച്ചു: നീ അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യൻ; ഞങ്ങൾ മോശെയുടെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ. Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses’ disciples.
29 മോശെയോടു ദൈവം സംസാരിച്ചു എന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നു; ഇവനോ എവിടെനിന്നു എന്നു അറിയുന്നില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.
30 ആ മനുഷ്യൻ അവരോടു: എന്റെ കണ്ണു തുറന്നിട്ടും അവൻ എവിടെനിന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയാത്തതു ആശ്ചൎയ്യം. The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.
31 പാപികളുടെ പ്രാൎത്ഥന ദൈവം കേൾക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നും ദൈവഭക്തനായിരുന്നു അവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം ചെയ്യുന്നവന്റെ പ്രാൎത്ഥന കേൾക്കുന്നു എന്നും നാം അറിയുന്നു. Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
32 കുരുടനായി പിറന്നവന്റെ കണ്ണു ആരെങ്കിലും തുറന്നപ്രകാരം ലോകം ഉണ്ടായതുമുതൽ കേട്ടിട്ടില്ല. Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
33 ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽനിന്നു വന്നവൻ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അവന്നു ഒന്നും ചെയ്‌വാൻ കഴികയില്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
34 അവർ അവനോടു: നീ മുഴുവനും പാപത്തിൽ പിറന്നവൻ; നീ ഞങ്ങളെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ പുറത്താക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു. They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
35 അവനെ പുറത്താക്കി എന്നു യേശു കേട്ടു; അവനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ: നീ ദൈവപുത്രനിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
36 അതിന്നു അവൻ: യജമാനനേ, അവൻ ആർ ആകുന്നു? ഞാൻ അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കാം എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
37 യേശു അവനോടു: നീ അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു; നിന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നവൻ അവൻ തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
38 ഉടനെ അവൻ: കൎത്താവേ, ഞാൻ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു. And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
39 കാണാത്തവർ കാണ്മാനും കാണുന്നവർ കുരുടർ ആവാനും ഇങ്ങനെ ന്യായവിധിക്കായി ഞാൻ ഇഹലോകത്തിൽ വന്നു എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞു. And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
40 അവനോടുകൂടെയുള്ള ചില പരീശന്മാർ ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ടു: ഞങ്ങളും കുരുടരോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
41 യേശു അവരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ കുരുടർ ആയിരുന്നു എങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങൾക്കു പാപം ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു; എന്നാൽ: ഞങ്ങൾ കാണുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളുടെ പാപം നില്ക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
