1 യേശു യോഹന്നാനെക്കാൾ അധികം ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ ചേൎത്തു സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പരീശന്മാർ കേട്ടു എന്നു കൎത്താവു അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2 -- ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അല്ലാതെ യേശു തന്നേ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചില്ലതാനും -- (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
3 അവൻ യെഹൂദ്യദേശം വിട്ടു പിന്നെയും ഗലീലെക്കു യാത്രയായി. He left Judea, and departed again into Galilee.
4 അവൻ ശമൎയ്യയിൽ കൂടി കടന്നുപോകേണ്ടിവന്നു. And he must needs go through Samaria.
5 അങ്ങനെ അവൻ സുഖാർ എന്നോരു ശമൎയ്യപട്ടണത്തിൽ യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ പുത്രനായ യോസേഫിന്നു കൊടുത്ത നിലത്തിന്നരികെ എത്തി. Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 അവിടെ യാക്കോബിന്റെ ഉറവുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. യേശു വഴി നടന്നു ക്ഷീണിച്ചിട്ടു ഉറവിന്നരികെ ഇരുന്നു; അപ്പോൾ ഏകദേശം ആറാം മണിനേരം ആയിരുന്നു. Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7 ഒരു ശമൎയ്യസ്ത്രീ വെള്ളം കോരുവാൻ വന്നു; യേശു അവളോടു: എനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാൻ തരുമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങളെ കൊള്ളുവാൻ പട്ടണത്തിൽ പോയിരുന്നു. (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 ശമൎയ്യസ്ത്രീ അവനോടു: നീ യെഹൂദൻ ആയിരിക്കെ ശമൎയ്യക്കാരത്തിയായ എന്നോടു കുടിപ്പാൻ ചോദിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യെഹൂദന്മാൎക്കും ശമൎയ്യൎക്കും തമ്മിൽ സമ്പൎക്കമില്ല. — Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 അതിന്നു യേശു: നീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാനവും നിന്നോടു കുടിപ്പാൻ ചോദിക്കുന്നവൻ ആരെന്നും അറിഞ്ഞു എങ്കിൽ നീ അവനോടു ചോദിക്കയും അവൻ ജീവനുള്ള വെള്ളം നിനക്കു തരികയും ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 സ്ത്രീ അവനോടു: യജമാനനേ, നിനക്കു കോരുവാൻ പാത്രം ഇല്ലല്ലോ; കിണറു ആഴമുള്ളതാകുന്നു; പിന്നെ ജീവനുള്ള വെള്ളം നിനക്കു എവിടെ നിന്നു? The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 നമ്മുടെ പിതാവായ യാക്കോബിനെക്കാൾ നീ വലിയവനോ? അവൻ ആകുന്നു ഈ കിണറു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു തന്നതു; അവനും അവന്റെ മക്കളും മൃഗങ്ങളും ഇതിലെ വെള്ളം കുടിച്ചുപോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 യേശു അവളോടു: ഈ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുന്നവന്നു എല്ലാം പിന്നെയും ദാഹിക്കും. Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 ഞാൻ കൊടുക്കുന്ന വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുന്നവനോ ഒരുനാളും ദാഹിക്കയില്ല; ഞാൻ കൊടുക്കുന്ന വെള്ളം അവനിൽ നിത്യജീവങ്കലേക്കു പൊങ്ങിവരുന്ന നീരുറവായി തീരും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 സ്ത്രീ അവനാടു: യജമാനനേ, എനിക്കു ദാഹിക്കാതെയും ഞാൻ കോരുവാൻ ഇവിടത്തോളം വരാതെയുമിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആ വെള്ളം എനിക്കു തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16 യേശു അവളോടു: പോയി ഭൎത്താവിനെ വിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 എനിക്കു ഭൎത്താവു ഇല്ല എന്നു സ്ത്രീ അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു: എനിക്കു ഭൎത്താവു ഇല്ല എന്നു നീ പറഞ്ഞതു ശരി. The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18 അഞ്ചു ഭൎത്താക്കന്മാർ നിനക്കു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോൾ ഉള്ളവനോ ഭൎത്താവല്ല; നീ പറഞ്ഞതു സത്യം തന്നേ എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞു. For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19 സ്ത്രീ അവനോടു: യജമാനനേ, നീ പ്രവാചകൻ എന്നു ഞാൻ കാണുന്നു. The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ ഈ മലയിൽ നമസ്കരിച്ചുവന്നു; നമസ്കരിക്കേണ്ടുന്ന സ്ഥലം യെരൂശലേമിൽ ആകുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 യേശു അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: സ്ത്രീയേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു വിശ്വസിക്ക; നിങ്ങൾ പിതാവിനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നതു ഈ മലയിലും അല്ല യെരൂശലേമിലും അല്ല എന്നുള്ള നാഴിക വരുന്നു. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 നിങ്ങൾ അറിയാത്തതിനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നു. ഞങ്ങളോ അറിയുന്നതിനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നു; രക്ഷ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഇടയിൽ നിന്നല്ലോ വരുന്നതു. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 സത്യനമസ്കാരികൾ പിതാവിനെ ആത്മാവിലും സത്യത്തിലും നമസ്കരിക്കുന്ന നാഴിക വരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോൾ വന്നുമിരിക്കുന്നു. തന്നേ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നവർ ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവർ ആയിരിക്കേണം എന്നു പിതാവു ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 ദൈവം ആത്മാവു ആകുന്നു; അവനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നവർ ആത്മാവിലും സത്യത്തിലും നമസ്കരിക്കേണം. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25 സ്ത്രീ അവനോടു: മശീഹ — എന്നുവെച്ചാൽ ക്രിസ്തു — വരുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു; അവൻ വരുമ്പോൾ സകലവും അറിയിച്ചുതരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 യേശു അവളോടു: നിന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ഞാൻ തന്നേ മശീഹ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
27 ഇതിന്നിടയിൽ അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ വന്നു അവൻ സ്ത്രീയോടു സംസാരിക്കയാൽ ആശ്ചൎയ്യപ്പെട്ടു എങ്കിലും: നീ എന്തു ചോദിക്കുന്നു? അവളോടു എന്തു സംസാരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ആരും ചോദിച്ചില്ല. And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
28 അനന്തരം സ്ത്രീ പാത്രം വെച്ചിട്ടു പട്ടണത്തിൽ ചെന്നു ജനങ്ങളോടു: The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
29 ഞാൻ ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ വന്നുകാണ്മിൻ; അവൻ പക്ഷേ ക്രിസ്തു ആയിരിക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
30 അവർ പട്ടണത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു. Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
31 അതിന്നിടയിൽ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അവനോടു: റബ്ബീ, ഭക്ഷിച്ചാലും എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു. In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
32 അതിന്നു അവൻ: നിങ്ങൾ അറിയാത്ത ആഹാരം ഭക്ഷിപ്പാൻ എനിക്കു ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു. But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
33 ആകയാൽ വല്ലവനും അവന്നു ഭക്ഷിപ്പാൻ കൊണ്ടുവന്നുവോ എന്നു ശിഷ്യന്മാർ തമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു. Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34 യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: എന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം ചെയ്തു അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി തികെക്കുന്നതു തന്നേ എന്റെ ആഹാരം. Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35 ഇനി നാലു മാസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു കൊയ്ത്തു വരുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നില്ലയോ? നിങ്ങൾ തല പൊക്കി നോക്കിയാൽ നിലങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോൾ തന്നേ കൊയ്ത്തിന്നു വെളുത്തിരിക്കുന്നതു കാണും എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36 വിതെക്കുന്നവനും കൊയ്യുന്നവനും ഒരുമിച്ചു സന്തോഷിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം കൊയ്യുന്നവൻ കൂലി വാങ്ങി നിത്യജീവങ്കലേക്കു വിളവു കൂട്ടിവെക്കുന്നു. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37 വിതെക്കുന്നതു ഒരുത്തൻ, കൊയ്യുന്നതു മറ്റൊരുത്തൻ എന്നുള്ള പഴഞ്ചൊൽ ഇതിൽ ഒത്തിരിക്കുന്നു. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38 നിങ്ങൾ അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തതു കൊയ്‌വാൻ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മറ്റുള്ളവർ അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചു; അവരുടെ അദ്ധ്വാനഫലത്തിലേക്കു നിങ്ങൾ പ്രവേശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
39 ഞാൻ ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും അവൻ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു സ്ത്രീ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കുനിമിത്തം ആ പട്ടണത്തിലെ പല ശമൎയ്യരും അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചു. And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40 അങ്ങനെ ശമൎയ്യർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു തങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പാൎക്കേണം എന്നു അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അവൻ രണ്ടുനാൾ അവിടെ പാൎത്തു. So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
41 ഏറ്റവും അധികംപേർ അവന്റെ വചനം കേട്ടു വിശ്വസിച്ചു: And many more believed because of his own word;
42 ഇനി നിന്റെ വാക്കുകൊണ്ടല്ല ഞങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നതു; ഞങ്ങൾ തന്നേ കേൾക്കയും അവൻ സാക്ഷാൽ ലോകരക്ഷിതാവു എന്നു അറികയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സ്ത്രീയോടു പറഞ്ഞു. And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
43 രണ്ടു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവൻ അവിടംവിട്ടു ഗലീലെക്കു പോയി. Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
44 പ്രവാചകന്നു തന്റെ പിതൃദേശത്തു ബഹുമാനം ഇല്ല എന്നു യേശു തന്നേ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
45 അവൻ ഗലീലയിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ഗലീലക്കാർ തങ്ങളും പെരുന്നാളിന്നു പോയി അവൻ യെരൂശലേമിൽവെച്ചു പെരുനാളിൽ ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും കണ്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ അംഗീകരിച്ചു. Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
46 അവൻ പിന്നെയും താൻ വെള്ളം വീഞ്ഞാക്കിയ ഗലീലയിലെ കാനായിൽ വന്നു. അന്നു മകൻ രോഗിയായിരുന്നോരു രാജഭൃത്യൻ കഫൎന്നഹൂമിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 യേശു യെഹൂദ്യദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഗലീലയിൽ വന്നു എന്നു അവൻ കേട്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു, തന്റെ മകൻ മരിപ്പാറായിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു അവൻ വന്നു അവനെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു. When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
48 യേശു അവനോടു: നിങ്ങൾ അടയാളങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും കണ്ടിട്ടല്ലാതെ വിശ്വസിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49 രാജഭൃത്യൻ അവനോടു: കൎത്താവേ, പൈതൽ മരിക്കുംമുമ്പേ വരേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
50 യേശു അവനോടു: പൊയ്ക്കൊൾക; നിന്റെ മകൻ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യേശു പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു വിശ്വസിച്ചു ആ മനുഷ്യൻ പോയി. Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
51 അവൻ പോകയിൽ അവന്റെ ദാസന്മാർ അവനെ എതിരേറ്റു മകൻ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
52 അവന്നു ഭേദം വന്ന നാഴിക അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവർ അവനോടു: ഇന്നലെ ഏഴുമണിക്കു പനി വിട്ടുമാറി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53 ആകയാൽ നിന്റെ മകൻ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞ നാഴികയിൽ തന്നേ എന്നു അപ്പൻ ഗ്രഹിച്ചു താനും കുടുംബം ഒക്കെയും വിശ്വസിച്ചു. So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
54 യേശു യെഹൂദ്യയിൽനിന്നു ഗലീലയിൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ ഇതു രണ്ടാമത്തെ അടയാളമായിട്ടു ചെയ്തു. This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judea into Galilee.
