1 യഹോവയായ കൎത്താവു എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചു തന്നതെന്തെന്നാൽ: പുല്ലു രണ്ടാമതു മുളെച്ചു തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവൻ വിട്ടിലുകളെ നിൎമ്മിച്ചു: അതു രാജാവിന്റെ വക പുല്ലു അരിഞ്ഞ ശേഷം മുളെച്ച രണ്ടാമത്തെ പുല്ലു ആയിരുന്നു. Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.
2 എന്നാൽ അവ ദേശത്തിലെ സസ്യം തിന്നുതീൎന്നപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ: യഹോവയായ കൎത്താവേ, ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ; യാക്കോബ് എങ്ങനെ നിവിൎന്നുനില്ക്കും? അവൻ ചെറിയവനല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord God, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
3 യഹോവ അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിച്ചു; അതു സംഭവിക്കയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു. The Lord repented for this: It shall not be, saith the Lord.
4 യഹോവയായ കൎത്താവു എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചുതന്നതെന്തെന്നാൽ: യഹോവയായ കൎത്താവു തീയാൽ വ്യവഹരിപ്പാൻ അതിനെ വിളിച്ചു; അതു വലിയ ആഴിയെ വറ്റിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിട്ടു യഹോവയുടെ ഓഹരിയെയും തിന്നുകളവാൻ ഭാവിച്ചു. Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord God called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.
5 അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ: യഹോവയായ കൎത്താവേ, മതിയാക്കേണമേ; യാക്കോബ് എങ്ങനെ നിവിൎന്നുനില്ക്കും? അവൻ ചെറിയവനല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. Then said I, O Lord God, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
6 യഹോവ അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിച്ചു; അതു സംഭവിക്കയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയായ കൎത്താവു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു. The Lord repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord God.
7 അവൻ എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചുതന്നതെന്തെന്നാൽ: കൎത്താവു കയ്യിൽ തൂക്കുകട്ട പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു തൂക്കുകട്ട തൂക്കിയുണ്ടാക്കിയോരു മതിലിന്മേൽ നിന്നു. Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.
8 യഹോവ എന്നോടു: ആമോസേ, നീ എന്തു കാണുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു ഒരു തൂക്കുകട്ട എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു കൎത്താവു: ഞാൻ എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നടുവിൽ ഒരു തൂക്കുകട്ട പിടിക്കും; ഞാൻ ഇനി അവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കാതെ വിടുകയില്ല; And the Lord said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:
9 യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ പൂജാഗിരികൾ പാഴും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരങ്ങൾ ശൂന്യവുമായ്തീരും; ഞാൻ യൊരോബെയാംഗൃഹത്തോടു വാളുമായി എതിൎത്തുനില്ക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു. And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
10 എന്നാൽ ബേഥേലിലെ പുരോഹിതനായ അമസ്യാവു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ആളയച്ചു: ആമോസ് യിസ്രായേൽഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ മദ്ധ്യേ നിനക്കു വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ വാക്കു ഒക്കെയും സഹിപ്പാൻ ദേശത്തിന്നു കഴിവില്ല. Then Amaziah the priest of Beth–el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.
11 യൊരോബെയാം വാൾകൊണ്ടു മരിക്കും; യിസ്രായേൽ സ്വദേശം വിട്ടു പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവരും എന്നിങ്ങനെ ആമോസ് പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറയിച്ചു. For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.
12 എന്നാൽ ആമോസിനോടു അമസ്യാവു: എടോ ദൎശകാ, യെഹൂദാദേശത്തിലേക്കു ഓടിപ്പൊയ്ക്കൊൾക; അവിടെ പ്രവചിച്ചു അഹോവൃത്തി കഴിച്ചുകൊൾക. Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:
13 ബേഥേലിലോ ഇനി പ്രവചിക്കരുതു; അതു രാജാവിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരവും രാജധാനിയുമല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. But prophesy not again any more at Beth–el: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court.
14 അതിന്നു ആമോസ് അമസ്യാവോടു: ഞാൻ പ്രവാചകനല്ല, പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യനുമല്ല, ഇടയനും കാട്ടത്തിപ്പഴം പെറുക്കുന്നവനും അത്രേ. Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
15 ഞാൻ ആടുകളെ നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ യഹോവ എന്നെ പിടിച്ചു: നീ ചെന്നു എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു പ്രവചിക്ക എന്നു യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. And the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
16 ആകയാൽ നീ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേൾക്ക: യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കുറിച്ചു പ്രവചിക്കരുതു; യിസ്‌ഹാക്‌ഗ്രഹത്തിന്നു നിന്റെ വചനം പൊഴിക്കരുതു എന്നു നീ പറയുന്നുവല്ലോ. Now therefore hear thou the word of the Lord: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.
17 അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നിന്റെ ഭാൎയ്യ നഗരത്തിൽ വേശ്യയാകും; നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും വാൾകൊണ്ടു വീഴും; നിന്റെ ദേശം അളവു നൂൽകൊണ്ടു വിഭാഗിക്കപ്പെടും; നീയോ ഒരു അശുദ്ധദേശത്തുവെച്ചു മരിക്കും; യിസ്രായേൽ സ്വദേശം വിട്ടു പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവരും. Therefore thus saith the Lord; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.
