1 സഹോദരന്മാരേ, കാലങ്ങളെയും സമയങ്ങളെയും കുറിച്ചു നിങ്ങളെ എഴുതിയറിയിപ്പാൻ ആവശ്യമില്ല. But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 കള്ളൻ രാത്രിയിൽ വരുമ്പോലെ കൎത്താവിന്റെ നാൾ വരുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ തന്നേ നന്നായി അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 അവർ സമാധാനമെന്നും നിൎഭയമെന്നും പറയുമ്പോൾ ഗൎഭിണിക്കു പ്രസവവേദന വരുമ്പോലെ അവൎക്കു പെട്ടെന്നു നാശം വന്നു ഭവിക്കും; അവൎക്കു തെറ്റിയൊഴിയാവതുമല്ല. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4 എന്നാൽ സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ആ നാൾ കള്ളൻ എന്നപോലെ നിങ്ങളെ പിടിപ്പാൻ നിങ്ങൾ ഇരുട്ടിലുള്ളവരല്ല; But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും വെളിച്ചത്തിന്റെ മക്കളും പകലിന്റെ മക്കളും ആകുന്നു; നാം രാത്രിക്കും ഇരുളിന്നുമുള്ളവരല്ല. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 ആകയാൽ നാം ശേഷമുള്ളവരെപ്പോലെ ഉറങ്ങാതെ ഉണൎന്നും സുബോധമായുമിരിക്ക. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7 ഉറങ്ങുന്നവർ രാത്രിയിൽ ഉറങ്ങുന്നു; മദ്യപിക്കുന്നവർ രാത്രിയിൽ മദ്യപിക്കുന്നു. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8 നാമോ പകലിന്നുള്ളവരാകയാൽ വിശ്വാസവും സ്നേഹവും എന്ന കവചവും ശിരസ്ത്രമായി രക്ഷയുടെ പ്രത്യാശയും ധരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു സുബോധമായിരിക്ക. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 ദൈവം നമ്മെ കോപത്തിന്നല്ല, For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 നാം ഉണൎന്നിരുന്നാലും ഉറങ്ങിയാലും തന്നോടുകൂടെ ജീവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നമുക്കു വേണ്ടി മരിച്ച നമ്മുടെ കൎത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുമൂലം രക്ഷയെ പ്രാപിപ്പാനത്രേ നിയമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു. Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11 ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ചെയ്തുവരുന്നതുപോലെ അന്യോന്യം പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചും തമ്മിൽ ആത്മിക വൎദ്ധനവരുത്തിയും പോരുവിൻ. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
12 സഹോദരന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ അദ്ധ്വാനിക്കയും കൎത്താവിൽ നിങ്ങളെ ഭരിക്കയും പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവരെ അറിഞ്ഞു അവരുടെ വേലനിമിത്തം And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13 ഏറ്റവും സ്നേഹത്തോടെ വിചാരിക്കേണം എന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു. തമ്മിൽ സമാധാനമായിരിപ്പിൻ. And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14 സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു: ക്രമം കെട്ടവരെ ബുദ്ധിയുപദേശിപ്പിൻ; ഉൾക്കരുത്തില്ലാത്തവരെ ധൈൎയ്യപ്പെടുത്തുവിൻ; ബലഹീനരെ താങ്ങുവിൻ; എല്ലാവരോടും ദീൎഘക്ഷമ കാണിപ്പിൻ. Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15 ആരും തിന്മക്കു പകരം തിന്മ ചെയ്യാതിരിപ്പാൻ നോക്കുവിൻ; തമ്മിലും എല്ലാവരോടും എപ്പോഴും നന്മ ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരിപ്പിൻ; See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
16 എപ്പോഴും സന്തോഷിപ്പിൻ; Rejoice evermore.
17 ഇടവിടാതെ പ്രാൎത്ഥിപ്പിൻ Pray without ceasing.
18 എല്ലാറ്റിന്നും സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്‌വിൻ; ഇതല്ലോ നിങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിൽ ദൈവേഷ്ടം. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 ആത്മാവിനെ കെടുക്കരുതു. Quench not the Spirit.
20 പ്രവചനം തുച്ഛീകരിക്കരുതു. Despise not prophesyings.
21 സകലവും ശോധന ചെയ്തു നല്ലതു മുറുകെ പിടിപ്പിൻ. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 സകലവിധദോഷവും വിട്ടകലുവിൻ. Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23 സമാധാനത്തിന്റെ ദൈവം തന്നേ നിങ്ങളെ മുഴുവനും ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ; നിങ്ങളുടെ ആത്മാവും പ്രാണനും ദേഹവും അശേഷം നമ്മുടെ കൎത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയിൽ അനിന്ദ്യമായി വെളിപ്പെടുംവണ്ണം കാക്കപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 നിങ്ങളെ വിളിക്കുന്നവൻ വിശ്വസ്തൻ ആകുന്നു; അവൻ അതു നിവൎത്തിക്കും. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
25 സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞങ്ങൾക്കു വേണ്ടി പ്രാൎത്ഥിപ്പിൻ. Brethren, pray for us.
26 സകല സഹോദരന്മാരെയും വിശുദ്ധചുംബനത്താൽ വന്ദനം ചെയ്‌വിൻ. Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
27 കൎത്താവാണ, സഹോദരന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും ഈ ലേഖനം വായിച്ചു കേൾപ്പിക്കേണം. I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
28 നമ്മുടെ കൎത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ കൃപ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. The first epistle unto the Thessalonians was written from Athens.
