Quando Israel saiu do Egito, quando a casa de Jacó saiu de um povo estrangeiro, | When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language;
Judá se tornou seu santuário, e Israel os seus domínios. | Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion.
O mar viu, e fugiu; e o Jordão recuou. | The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back.
Os montes saltaram como carneiros, os morros como cordeiros. | The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.
O que houve, ó mar, que fugiste? Ó Jordão, que recuaste? | What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back?
Ó montes, que saltastes como carneiros? Ó morros, como cordeiros? | Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs?
Trema tu, ó terra, pela presença do Senhor, pela presença do Deus de Jacó, | Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;
Que tornou a rocha em lago de águas; ao pedregulho em fonte de águas. | Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
