1	Umkehr und Untreue »Kommt, wir wollen wieder zum Herrn; denn er hat uns zerrissen, er wird uns auch heilen, er hat uns geschlagen, er wird uns auch verbinden.	Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
2	Er macht uns lebendig nach zwei Tagen, er wird uns am dritten Tage aufrichten, dass wir vor ihm leben.	After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
3	Lasst uns darauf achthaben und danach trachten, den Herrn zu erkennen; so gewiss wie die schöne Morgenröte bricht er hervor und kommt über uns wie der Regen, wie Spätregen, der das Land feuchtet.«	Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
4	Was soll ich dir tun, Ephraim? Was soll ich dir tun, Juda? Ist doch eure Liebe wie eine Wolke am Morgen und wie der Tau, der frühmorgens vergeht!	O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away.
5	Darum schlug ich drein durch die Propheten und tötete sie durch die Worte meines Mundes, dass mein Recht wie das Licht hervorkomme.	Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.
6	Denn ich habe Lust an der Liebe und nicht am Opfer, an der Erkenntnis Gottes und nicht am Brandopfer.	For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
7	Aber sie haben den Bund übertreten bei Adam; dort wurden sie mir untreu.	But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.
8	Gilead ist eine Stadt voller Übeltäter; blutig ist ihre Spur.	Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity, and is polluted with blood.
9	Die Rotten der Priester sind wie die Räuber, die da lauern auf die Leute; sie morden auf dem Wege, der nach Sichem geht, ja, Schandtaten vollbringen sie.	And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way by consent: for they commit lewdness.
10	Im Hause Israel habe ich gesehen, wovor mir graut; da treibt Ephraim Hurerei, und Israel hat sich verunreinigt.	I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel: there is the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.
11	Auch dir, Juda, ist die Ernte bestimmt. Wenn ich meines Volkes Geschick wende,	Also, O Judah, he hath set an harvest for thee, when I returned the captivity of my people.
