1	Sicherung der Stadt Als nun die Mauer gebaut war und ich die Türen eingehängt hatte, wurden die Torhüter, Sänger und Leviten eingesetzt.	Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
2	Und ich setzte über Jerusalem meinen Bruder Hanani und den Burgvogt Hananja; denn der war ein treuer Mann und gottesfürchtig vor vielen andern.	That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.
3	Und ich sprach zu ihnen: Man soll die Tore Jerusalems nicht auftun, ehe die Sonne heiß scheint; und während sie noch am Himmel steht, soll man die Tore schließen und verriegeln. Und man soll Wachen aufstellen aus den Bewohnern Jerusalems, jeden auf seinem Wachtposten und jeden vor seinem Haus. (vgl. )	And I said unto them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar them: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one to be over against his house.
4	Verzeichnis der aus Babel Zurückgekehrten Die Stadt aber war weit und groß, aber wenig Volk darinnen, und die Häuser waren noch nicht wieder gebaut.	Now the city was large and great: but the people were few therein, and the houses were not builded.
5	Und mein Gott gab mir ins Herz, dass ich die Vornehmen und die Vorsteher und das Volk versammelte, um sie zu verzeichnen nach Geschlechtern. Und ich fand das Geschlechtsregister derer, die zuerst heimgekehrt waren, und fand darin geschrieben:	And my God put into mine heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found a register of the genealogy of them which came up at the first, and found written therein,
6	Dies sind die Leute der Provinz Juda, die aus der Gefangenschaft heraufgezogen sind, die Nebukadnezar, der König von Babel, weggeführt hatte und die wieder nach Jerusalem und nach Juda zurückkehrten, ein jeder in seine Stadt.	These are the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity, of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and came again to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one unto his city;
7	Sie kamen mit Serubbabel, Jeschua, Nehemja, Asarja, Raamja, Nahamani, Mordochai, Bilschan, Misperet, Bigwai, Rehum und Baana. Dies ist die Zahl der Männer des Volkes Israel:	Who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. The number, I say, of the men of the people of Israel was this;
8	die Söhne Parosch 2172;	The children of Parosh, two thousand an hundred seventy and two.
9	die Söhne Schefatja 372;	The children of Shephatiah, three hundred seventy and two.
10	die Söhne Arach 652;	The children of Arah, six hundred fifty and two.
11	die Söhne Pahat-Moab, nämlich die Söhne Jeschua und die Söhne Joab, 2818;	The children of Pahath–moab, of the children of Jeshua and Joab, two thousand and eight hundred and eighteen.

60	Alle Tempeldiener und Nachkommen der Knechte Salomos waren 392.	All the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon’s servants, were three hundred ninety and two.
61	Diese aber zogen auch mit herauf von Tel-Melach, Tel-Harscha, Kerub-Addon und Immer, aber sie konnten nicht angeben, ob ihr Vaterhaus und ihre Nachkommen aus Israel stammten:	And these were they which went up also from Tel–melah, Tel–haresha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer: but they could not shew their father’s house, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel.
62	die Söhne Delaja, die Söhne Tobija und die Söhne Nekoda 642.	The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred forty and two.
63	Und von den Priestern: die Söhne Habaja, die Söhne Hakkoz, die Söhne Barsillai, der eine von den Töchtern des Gileaditers Barsillai zur Frau genommen hatte und nach dessen Namen genannt wurde.	And of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai, which took one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite to wife, and was called after their name.
64	Diese suchten im Geschlechtsregister, aber da man sie nicht fand, wurden sie vom Priestertum ausgeschlossen.	These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.
65	Und der Tirschata gebot ihnen, sie sollten nicht essen vom Hochheiligen, bis ein Priester für »Licht und Recht« aufstände.	And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.
66	Die ganze Gemeinde zählte insgesamt 42360,	The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore,
67	ausgenommen ihre Knechte und Mägde; die waren 7337, dazu 245 Sänger und Sängerinnen.	Beside their manservants and their maidservants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and they had two hundred forty and five singing men and singing women.
68	Und sie hatten 736 Rosse, 245 Maultiere, 435 Kamele, 6720 Esel. (vgl. )	Their horses, seven hundred thirty and six: their mules, two hundred forty and five:
69	Gaben für den Bau des Tempels Und einige Häupter der Sippen gaben für das Werk. Der Tirschata gab zum Schatz 1000 Gulden, 50 Schalen, 530 Priesterkleider.	Their camels, four hundred thirty and five: six thousand seven hundred and twenty asses.
70	Und einige Häupter der Sippen gaben zum Schatz für das Werk 20000 Gulden, 2200 Pfund Silber.	And some of the chief of the fathers gave unto the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basons, five hundred and thirty priests’ garments.
71	Und das übrige Volk gab 20000 Gulden und 2000 Pfund Silber und 67 Priesterkleider.	And some of the chief of the fathers gave to the treasure of the work twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pound of silver.
72	Und die Priester und die Leviten, die Torhüter, die Sänger und etliche aus dem Volk und die Tempeldiener und ganz Israel ließen sich nieder in ihren Städten. Als nun der siebente Monat herangekommen war und die Israeliten in ihren Städten waren,	And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pound of silver, and threescore and seven priests’ garments.
73	—	So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.
