1 그때에 아브라함이 다시 아내를 취하였는데 그녀의 이름은 그두라더라. Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.
2 그녀가 그에게 시므란과 욕산과 므단과 미디안과 이스박과 수아를 낳았고 And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.
3 욕산은 세바와 드단을 낳았는데 드단의 아들들은 앗수르 족속과 르두시 족속과 르움미 족속이며 And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.
4 미디안의 아들들은 에바와 에벨과 하녹과 아비다와 엘다아더라. 이들은 다 그두라의 자손이더라. And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.
5 ¶아브라함이 이삭에게 자기의 모든 소유를 주었으나 And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.
6 아브라함이 취한 첩들의 아들들에게는 선물을 주고 자기 생전에 그들을 내보내어 자기 아들 이삭을 떠나 동쪽으로 곧 동쪽 지방으로 가게 하였더라. But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.
7 아브라함이 누린 삶의 햇수의 날이 이러하니 곧 백칠십오 년이더라. And these are the days of the years of Abraham’s life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.
8 그때에 아브라함이 숨을 거두니라. 그가 나이가 충분히 들어 늙고 햇수가 차서 죽어 자기 백성에게로 거두어지매 Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.
9 그의 아들들인 이삭과 이스마엘이 막벨라의 굴에 그를 묻으니라. 이 굴은 헷 족속 소할의 아들 에브론의 밭에 있으며 마므레 앞에 있는데 And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;
10 그 밭은 아브라함이 헷의 아들들에게서 산 것이더라. 아브라함과 그의 아내 사라가 거기 묻히니라. The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.
11 ¶아브라함이 죽은 뒤에 하나님께서 그의 아들 이삭에게 복을 주시매 이삭이 라해로이 우물 곁에 거하였더라. And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahai–roi.
12 ¶이제 사라의 여종 이집트 사람 하갈이 아브라함에게 낳은 아브라함의 아들 이스마엘의 세대들은 이러하니라. Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s handmaid, bare unto Abraham:
13 이스마엘의 아들들의 이름은 그들의 세대에 따라 그들의 이름대로 이러하니라. 이스마엘의 맏아들은 느바욧이요, 다음은 게달과 앗브엘과 밉삼과 And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,
14 미스마와 두마와 맛사와 And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,
15 하달과 데마와 여둘과 나비스와 게드마니 Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:
16 이들은 이스마엘의 아들들이요, 이것들은 그들의 고을들과 성채들에 따른 그들의 이름들이며 그들의 민족에 따른 열두 통치자더라. These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.
17 이스마엘이 누린 삶의 햇수가 이러하니 곧 백삼십칠 년이더라. 그가 숨을 거두고 죽어 자기 백성에게로 거두어지니라. And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.
18 그들은 하윌라에서부터 수르에까지 거하였는데 수르는 네가 아시리아로 갈 때에 이집트 앞에 있느니라. 그가 자기의 모든 형제들 앞에서 죽었더라. And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.
19 ¶아브라함의 아들 이삭의 세대들은 이러하니라. 아브라함이 이삭을 낳았고 And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham’s son: Abraham begat Isaac:
20 이삭은 사십 세에 리브가를 아내로 취하였는데 그녀는 밧단아람의 시리아 사람 브두엘의 딸이요, 시리아 사람 라반의 누이더라. And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan–aram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.
21 이삭이 자기 아내가 수태하지 못하므로 그녀를 위하여 주께 간구하매 주께서 그의 간구를 들으셨으므로 그의 아내 리브가가 수태하였더라. And Isaac intreated the Lord for his wife, because she was barren: and the Lord was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.
22 아이들이 그녀의 태 속에서 함께 싸우므로 그녀가 이르되, 그렇다면 왜 나는 이러할까? 하고 가서 주께 여쭈었더니 And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the Lord.
23 주께서 그녀에게 이르시되, 두 민족이 네 태 속에 있노라. 두 종류의 백성이 네 배 속에서부터 나누어지리라. 한 백성이 다른 백성보다 강하겠고 형이 동생을 섬기리라, 하시니라. And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.
24 ¶그녀가 해산할 날들이 찼는데, 보라, 그녀의 태에 쌍둥이가 있더라. And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
25 먼저 나온 자는 붉고 온 몸이 털옷 같아서 그들이 그의 이름을 에서라 하였고 And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.
26 그 뒤에 나온 그의 동생은 자기 손으로 에서의 발꿈치를 잡았으므로 그의 이름을 야곱이라 하였더라. 그녀가 그들을 낳을 때에 이삭은 육십 세더라. And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.
27 소년들이 자라매 에서는 능숙한 사냥꾼으로 들사람이 되었고 야곱은 평범한 사람으로 장막에 거하였더라. And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.
28 이삭은 에서가 사냥한 고기를 먹었으므로 그를 사랑하였으나 리브가는 야곱을 사랑하였더라. And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.
29 ¶야곱이 죽을 쑤었는데 에서가 들에서 돌아와 지쳐서 And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:
30 야곱에게 이르되, 내가 지쳤으니 원하건대 그 붉은 죽을 내가 먹게 하라, 하더라. 그러므로 그의 이름을 에돔이라 하더라. And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.
31 야곱이 이르되, 이 날 형의 장자권을 내게 팔라, 하니 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.
32 에서가 이르되, 보라, 내가 죽을 지경에 이르렀으니 이 장자권이 내게 무슨 유익을 주겠느냐? 하매 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?
33 야곱이 이르되, 이 날 내게 맹세하라, 하니 그가 그에게 맹세하고 자기의 장자권을 야곱에게 파니라. And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.
34 이에 야곱이 빵과 팥죽을 에서에게 주매 그가 먹고 마시고 일어나 자기 길로 갔더라. 에서는 이와 같이 자기의 장자권을 업신여겼더라. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.
