| 1 | 오 바빌론의 처녀 딸아, 내려와서 티끌에 앉으라. 오 갈대아 사람들의 딸아, 왕좌가 없으니 땅에 앉으라. 네가 다시는 부드럽고 우아하다고 불리지 아니하리라. | Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate. |
| 2 | 맷돌을 가져다가 곡식을 갈며 네 머리 단을 드러내고 다리를 드러내며 넓적다리를 드러내고 강들을 건너라. | Take the millstones, and grind meal: uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over the rivers. |
| 3 | 네 벌거벗은 것이 드러나고 참으로 네 부끄러운 것이 보이리라. 내가 원수를 갚되 사람으로서 너를 만나지 아니하리라. | Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man. |

| 5 | 오 갈대아 사람들의 딸아, 너는 잠잠히 앉고 어둠 속으로 들어가라. 네가 다시는 왕국들의 귀부인이라 불리지 아니하리라. | Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, The lady of kingdoms. |
| 6 | ¶전에 내가 내 백성에게 노하여 내 상속 백성을 더럽게 하고 그들을 네 손에 넘겨주었거늘 네가 그들에게 긍휼을 베풀지 아니하고 노인들에게 네 멍에를 심히 무겁게 지워 주었도다. | I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke. |
| 7 | ¶또 네가 말하기를, 나는 영원히 귀부인이 되리라, 하고는 이 일들을 네 마음에 두지 아니하였으며 그것의 마지막 끝도 기억하지 아니하였도다. | And thou saidst, I shall be a lady for ever: so that thou didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst remember the latter end of it. |
| 8 | 그러므로 쾌락에 빠져 염려 없이 거하며 마음속으로 이르기를, 나뿐이라. 나 외에는 다른 이가 없도다. 나는 과부로 앉지도 아니하며 자녀를 잃어버리는 일도 알지 아니하리라, 하는 자여, 너는 이제 이 말을 들을지어다. | Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children: |
| 9 | 한 날에 한 순간에 자녀를 잃으며 과부가 되는 이 두 가지 일이 네게 임하리로다. 너의 수많은 마법과 심히 풍성한 마술로 인하여 그것들이 네게 완전히 임하리라. | But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments. |
| 10 | ¶네가 네 사악함을 신뢰하였나니 네가 이르기를, 아무도 나를 보지 아니한다, 하였도다. 네 지혜와 네 지식이 너를 굽게 하였으므로 네가 마음속으로 이르기를, 나뿐이라. 나 외에는 다른 이가 없다, 하였도다. | For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me. |
| 11 | ¶그러므로 재앙이 너를 덮치되 네가 그것이 어디에서 일어나는지 알지 못하리라. 해악이 네게 닥치되 네가 능히 그것을 물리치지 못하리라. 황폐함이 네게 갑자기 임하되 네가 그것을 알지 못하리로다. | Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know. |
| 12 | 이제 젊어서부터 힘써 행하던 네 마술과 수많은 마법을 가지고 서 보라. 혹시라도 네가 유익을 얻을 수 있거든 그리하고 혹시라도 네가 이길 수 있거든 그리하라. | Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail. |
| 13 | 네가 너의 수많은 계획으로 인하여 피곤하게 되었도다. 이제 별을 살피는 자들과 별을 바라보는 자들과 달마다 예언하는 자들이 일어나서 네게 임할 이 일들로부터 너를 구원하게 하여 보라. | Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee. |
| 14 | 보라, 그들은 지푸라기같이 되어 불에 탈 것이요, 그 불꽃의 위력에서 자신을 건져 내지 못하리라. 옆에서 몸을 따뜻하게 할 숯도 남지 아니하고 앞에 앉을 만한 불도 남지 아니하리라. | Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it. |
| 15 | 너와 함께 애쓰던 자들 곧 젊어서부터 너와 함께 장사하던 자들이 네게 이와 같이 되리라. 그들이 저마다 자기 지역으로 떠돌아다니리니 아무도 너를 구원하지 못하리라. | Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured, even thy merchants, from thy youth: they shall wander every one to his quarter; none shall save thee. |
