1 내 숨이 썩었고 내 날들이 다하였으며 무덤들이 나를 위해 준비되었나이다. My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me.
2 조롱하는 자들이 나와 함께 있지 아니하니이까? 내 눈이 계속해서 그들의 충동질을 보지 아니하니이까? Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?
3 이제 내려놓으시고 주께서 나와 함께 보증이 되소서. 나와 손을 마주칠 자가 누구니이까? Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who is he that will strike hands with me?
4 주께서 그들의 마음을 가리사 깨닫지 못하게 하셨사오니 그러므로 그들을 높이지 마시옵소서. For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them.
5 자기 친구들에게 아첨하는 자는 심지어 그의 자녀들의 눈이 쇠하리이다. He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.
6 그분께서 나를 또한 백성의 속담거리로 만드시니 내가 전에는 작은북 같았으며 He hath made me also a byword of the people; and aforetime I was as a tabret.
7 내 눈 또한 슬픔으로 어두워지고 내 모든 지체는 그림자같이 되었도다. Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.
8 곧바른 자들은 이 일에 놀라고 죄 없는 자는 위선자를 향하여 흥분하며 Upright men shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.
9 또한 의로운 자는 자기 길을 꾸준히 가고 손이 깨끗한 자는 점점 더 강성하리라. The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.
10 그러나 너희 모두로 말하건대 너희는 돌이키고 이제 오라. 내가 너희 가운데서 지혜로운 자 하나를 찾을 수 없느니라. But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find one wise man among you.
11 내 날들이 지나갔고 내가 목적한 것들 곧 내 마음의 생각들이 좌절되었도다. My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.
12 그것들이 밤을 낮으로 바꾸니 어둠으로 인하여 빛이 모자라는도다. They change the night into day: the light is short because of darkness.
13 내가 기다리면 무덤이 내 집이 되겠으므로 내가 어둠 속에 내 침상을 만들었고 If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.
14 썩는 것에게 이르기를, 너는 내 아버지라, 하며 그 벌레에게, 너는 내 어머니요 내 누이라, 하였거늘 I have said to corruption, Thou art my father: to the worm, Thou art my mother, and my sister.
15 이제 내 소망이 어디 있느냐? 내 소망으로 말하건대 누가 그것을 보겠느냐? And where is now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?
16 우리의 안식이 다 함께 흙 속에 있을 때에 그것들이 구덩이의 빗장들로 내려가리로다, 하니라. They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.
