| 1 | 주께서 이같이 말씀하시되, 가서 토기장이의 질그릇 병 하나를 취하고 백성의 원로들과 제사장들의 원로들 중에서 몇 사람을 데리고 | Thus saith the Lord, Go and get a potter’s earthen bottle, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests; |
| 2 | 동문 어귀 곁에 있는 힌놈의 아들의 골짜기로 가서 내가 네게 이를 말들을 거기서 선포하여 | And go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the east gate, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee, |
| 3 | 이르되, 오 유다의 왕들과 예루살렘 거주민들아, 너희는 주의 말씀을 들으라. 만군의 주 곧 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 내가 이곳에 재앙을 가져오리니 그것을 듣는 자가 누구든지 그의 귀가 울리리라. | And say, Hear ye the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle. |
| 4 | 그들이 나를 버리고 이곳을 멀리하였으며 그것 안에서 자기들과 자기 조상들과 유다의 왕들이 알지 못하던 다른 신들에게 분향하였고 무죄한 자들의 피로 이곳을 채웠느니라. | Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents; |
| 5 | 또한 그들이 바알의 산당들을 건축하고 자기 아들들을 불로 태워 바알에게 번제 헌물로 바쳤거니와 그것은 내가 명령하거나 말하거나 생각한 바가 아니니라. | They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind: |
| 6 | 그러므로, 보라, 날들이 이르리니 다시는 이곳을 도벳이라 하거나 힌놈의 아들의 골짜기라 하지 아니하고 살육 골짜기라 하리라. 주가 말하노라. | Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of slaughter. |
| 7 | 내가 이곳에서 유다와 예루살렘의 계획을 무효가 되게 하고 그들로 하여금 그들의 원수들 앞에서 칼에 쓰러지게 하며 또 그들의 생명을 찾는 자들의 손에 쓰러지게 하고 그들의 사체를 하늘의 날짐승들과 땅의 짐승들에게 먹이로 주며 | And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth. |
| 8 | 또 이 도시를 황폐하게 만들고 비웃음거리가 되게 하리니 그것의 모든 역병으로 인하여 그 곁을 지나는 자마다 놀라고 비웃으리라. | And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof. |
| 9 | 또 내가 그들로 하여금 자기 아들딸들의 살을 먹게 하리니 그들의 원수들과 그들의 생명을 찾는 자들이 그들을 곤경에 빠뜨리려고 그들을 포위하고 곤경에 처하게 할 때에 그들이 각각 자기 친구의 살을 먹으리라. | And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall straiten them. |
| 10 | 그런즉 너는 너와 함께 가는 사람들의 눈앞에서 그 병을 깨뜨리고 | Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee, |
| 11 | 그들에게 이르기를, 만군의 주가 이같이 말하노라. 사람이 토기장이의 그릇을 깨뜨리면 그것을 다시 온전하게 할 수 없음같이 내가 이 백성과 이 도시를 무너뜨리리니 그들이 그들을 묻을 자리가 없을 때까지 도벳에 묻으리라. | And shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter’s vessel, that cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there be no place to bury. |
| 12 | 주가 말하노라. 내가 이곳과 이곳의 거주민들에게 이같이 행하여 이 도시를 도벳 같게 하리라. | Thus will I do unto this place, saith the Lord, and to the inhabitants thereof, and even make this city as Tophet: |
| 13 | 그들이 예루살렘의 집들과 유다 왕들의 집들의 모든 지붕 위에서 하늘의 온 군대에게 분향하고 다른 신들에게 음료 헌물을 부었으므로 그 집들이 도벳의 장소같이 더럽혀지리라, 하라. | And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto other gods. |
| 14 | 이에 예레미야가 주께서 자기를 보내사 대언하게 하신 도벳에서 돌아와 주의 집 뜰에 서서 온 백성에게 말하기를, | Then came Jeremiah from Tophet, whither the Lord had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the Lord’s house; and said to all the people, |
| 15 | 만군의 주 곧 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 그들이 내 말들을 듣지 아니하려고 자기들의 목을 굳게 하였으므로 내가 이 도시를 향해 선언한 모든 재앙을 이 도시와 그것의 모든 고을에 내리리라, 하니라. | Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they might not hear my words. |
