| 1 | 요시야가 통치하기 시작할 때에 나이가 팔 세더라. 그가 예루살렘에서 삼십일 년 동안 통치하니라. 그의 어머니의 이름은 보스갓의 아다야의 딸 여디다더라. | Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath. |
| 2 | 그가 주의 눈앞에서 올바른 것을 행하여 자기 조상 다윗의 모든 길로 걷고 오른쪽으로나 왼쪽으로나 치우치지 아니하였더라. | And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left. |

| 5 | 또 그들은 주의 집을 감독하는 자들 곧 일하는 자들의 손에 그것을 넘겨주고 그들은 주의 집에서 일하는 자들에게 그것을 주어 그 집의 무너진 곳을 보수하게 하되 | And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the Lord: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the Lord, to repair the breaches of the house, |
| 6 | 곧 목수와 건축자와 석공에게 주어 재목과 다듬은 돌을 사서 그 집을 보수하게 하라, 하였더라. | Unto carpenters, and builders, and masons, and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house. |
| 7 | 그러나 그들이 신실하게 처리하였으므로 그들의 손에 넘긴 돈을 그들과 함께 세지 아니하였더라. | Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand, because they dealt faithfully. |
| 8 | ¶대제사장 힐기야가 서기관 사반에게 이르되, 내가 주의 집에서 율법 책을 발견하였노라, 하고 그 책을 사반에게 주니 그가 그것을 읽으니라. | And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it. |
| 9 | 서기관 사반이 왕에게 가서 왕에게 말을 다시 전하여 이르되, 왕의 신하들이 그 집에서 찾은 돈을 모아 주의 집을 감독하는 자들 곧 일하는 자들의 손에 넘겨주었나이다, 하고 | And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of the Lord. |
| 10 | 또 서기관 사반이 왕에게 보여 주며 이르되, 제사장 힐기야가 내게 책을 넘겨주었나이다, 하고 왕 앞에서 그 책을 낭독하매 | And Shaphan the scribe shewed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king. |
| 11 | 왕이 율법 책의 말씀들을 듣고는 자기 옷을 찢으니라. | And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes. |
| 12 | 왕이 제사장 힐기야와 사반의 아들 아히감과 미가야의 아들 악볼과 서기관 사반과 왕의 신하 아사야에게 명령하여 이르되, | And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king’s, saying, |
| 13 | 너희는 가서 나와 백성과 온 유다를 위해 이 발견한 책의 말씀들에 관하여 주께 여쭈라. 우리 조상들이 이 책의 말씀들에 귀를 기울이지 아니하고 우리에 관하여 기록된 모든 것대로 행하지 아니하였으므로 우리를 향해 타오른 주의 진노가 크도다, 하니라. | Go ye, enquire of the Lord for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the Lord that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us. |
| 14 | 이에 제사장 힐기야와 또 아히감과 악볼과 사반과 아사야가 여대언자 훌다에게로 갔는데 그녀는 할하스의 손자이자 디그바의 아들로서 예복을 관리하는 자인 살룸의 아내더라. (이제 그녀는 예루살렘에서 그 일에 종사하는 사람들의 구역에 거하였더라.) 그들이 그녀와 대화를 나누니라. | So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed with her. |

| 16 | 주가 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 내가 이곳과 이곳의 거주민들에게 재앙을 가져오되 곧 유다 왕이 읽은 책의 모든 말을 가져오리니 | Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read: |
| 17 | 이는 그들이 나를 버리고 다른 신들에게 분향하며 자기들 손의 모든 일로 내 분노를 일으켰기 때문이라. 그러므로 내 진노가 이곳을 향해 타올라 꺼지지 아니하리라, 하라. | Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched. |
| 18 | 그러나 너희를 보내어 주에게 여쭙게 한 유다 왕에게는 너희가 그에게 이같이 말하되, 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 네가 들은 말들로 말하건대 | But to the king of Judah which sent you to enquire of the Lord, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard; |
| 19 | 내가 이곳과 이곳의 거주민들을 대적하여 말한 것 즉 그들이 황폐한 자가 되고 저주거리가 되리라고 말한 것을 네가 들을 때에 네 마음이 연하여 네가 주 앞에서 네 자신을 낮추며 네 옷을 찢고 내 앞에서 울었으므로 나도 네 말을 들었노라. 주가 말하노라. | Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the Lord, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the Lord. |
| 20 | 그러므로, 보라, 내가 너를 네 조상들에게로 거두리니 네가 평안히 거두어져서 네 무덤으로 들어갈 것이요, 또 내가 이곳에 내릴 모든 재앙을 네 눈이 보지 아니하리라, 하라, 하매 그들이 왕에게 말을 다시 전하니라. | Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again. |
