| 1 | 오 이스라엘아, 들으라. 이 날 네가 요르단을 건너고 들어가서 너보다 크고 강한 민족들을 소유하며 크고 성벽이 하늘에 닿은 도시들과 | Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven, |
| 2 | 크고 키가 큰 백성 곧 네가 알고 있는 아낙 족속의 자손을 소유하리라. 그들에 관한 말을 네가 들었나니 이르기를, 누가 아낙 자손 앞에 능히 서리요! 하느니라. | A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the children of Anak! |
| 3 | 그러므로 이 날 너는 깨달을지니 곧 주 네 하나님은 네 앞에 나가시는 분이시니라. 그분께서 소멸시키는 불같이 그들을 멸하사 네 얼굴 앞에 쓰러지게 하실 터인즉 주께서 네게 말씀하신 것 같이 너는 그들을 쫓아내고 속히 멸할 것이니라. | Understand therefore this day, that the Lord thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the Lord hath said unto thee. |
| 4 | 주 네 하나님께서 그들을 네 앞에서 쫓아내신 뒤에 너는 마음속으로 말하여 이르기를, 나의 의로 인하여 주께서 나를 이 땅으로 데려오사 이 땅을 소유하게 하셨다, 하지 말라. 오히려 이 민족들의 사악함으로 인하여 주께서 그들을 네 앞에서 쫓아내시느니라. | Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the Lord thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the Lord hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the Lord doth drive them out from before thee. |
| 5 | 네가 가서 그들의 땅을 소유하는 것은 네 의나 네 마음의 곧바름 때문이 아니요, 오직 이 민족들의 사악함으로 인하여 주 네 하나님께서 그들을 네 앞에서 쫓아내시기 때문이니 이것은 주께서 네 조상 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 맹세로 하신 말씀을 친히 이루려 하심이니라. | Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. |
| 6 | 그러므로 너는 깨달을지니 곧 주 네 하나님께서 네게 이 좋은 땅을 소유로 주시는 것은 네 의 때문이 아니니라. 너는 목이 뻣뻣한 백성이니라. | Understand therefore, that the Lord thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people. |
| 7 | ¶네가 광야에서 주 네 하나님의 진노를 일으키던 일을 잊지 말고 기억하라. 네가 이집트 땅을 떠나오던 날부터 너희가 이곳에 이를 때까지 너희가 늘 주를 거역하였으며 | Remember, and forget not, how thou provokedst the Lord thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the Lord. |
| 8 | 호렙에서도 주의 진노를 일으켰으므로 주께서 너희에게 분노하사 너희를 멸하려 하셨느니라. | Also in Horeb ye provoked the Lord to wrath, so that the Lord was angry with you to have destroyed you. |
| 9 | 내가 돌 판들 곧 주께서 너희와 맺으신 언약의 판들을 받으려고 산에 올라갔을 때에 밤낮으로 사십 일 동안 산에 거하며 빵도 먹지 아니하고 물도 마시지 아니하였더니 | When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the Lord made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water: |
| 10 | 주께서 내게 하나님의 손가락으로 쓰신 두 돌 판을 넘겨주셨는데 그것들 위에는 집회의 날에 주께서 산에서 불 가운데서 너희에게 이르신 모든 말씀대로 글이 기록되었느니라. | And the Lord delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the Lord spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly. |
| 11 | 밤낮으로 사십 일이 끝난 뒤에 주께서 내게 두 돌 판 곧 언약의 돌 판들을 주시고 | And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the Lord gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant. |
| 12 | 주께서 또 내게 이르시되, 너는 일어나 여기에서 속히 내려가라. 네가 이집트에서 데리고 나온 네 백성이 스스로 부패하여 내가 그들에게 명령한 길에서 속히 떠나 자기들을 위하여 부어 만든 형상을 만들었느니라. | And the Lord said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image. |
| 13 | 또한 주께서 내게 말씀하여 이르시되, 내가 이 백성을 보아 왔는데, 보라, 그 백성은 목이 뻣뻣한 백성이로다. | Furthermore the Lord spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: |
| 14 | 나를 홀로 내버려 두라. 내가 그들을 멸하여 그들의 이름을 하늘 아래에서 지워 버리고 너로부터 그들보다 강하고 큰 민족을 만들리라, 하시기에 | Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they. |
| 15 | 내가 돌아서서 산에서 내려오는데 산에는 불이 붙었고 언약의 두 돌 판은 내 두 손에 있었느니라. | So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands. |
| 16 | 내가 보니, 보라, 너희가 주 너희 하나님께 죄를 짓고 너희를 위하여 송아지를 부어 만들어 주께서 너희에게 명령하신 길에서 속히 떠났기에 | And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the Lord your God, and had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the Lord had commanded you. |
| 17 | 내가 그 두 돌 판을 내 두 손에서 들어 던져 너희 눈앞에서 깨뜨렸느니라. | And I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes. |
| 18 | 그리고 내가 처음과 같이 밤낮으로 사십 일 동안 주 앞에 엎드려 빵도 먹지 아니하고 물도 마시지 아니하였으니 이는 너희가 주의 눈앞에서 그분의 분노를 일으키려고 악하게 행하면서 지은 너희의 모든 죄로 인함이라. | And I fell down before the Lord, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger. |
| 19 | 주께서 너희에게 노하사 너희를 멸하려 하셨을 때 보이신 그 분노와 맹렬한 노여움으로 인해 내가 두려워하였느니라. 그러나 주께서 그때에도 내 말에 귀를 기울이셨느니라. | For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the Lord was wroth against you to destroy you. But the Lord hearkened unto me at that time also. |
| 20 | 주께서 또 아론에게 심히 분노하사 그를 멸하려 하셨으므로 내가 바로 그때에 아론을 위해서도 기도하고 | And the Lord was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same time. |
| 21 | 너희 죄 곧 너희가 만든 송아지를 취하여 불로 태워 빻고 아주 작게 즉 티끌같이 작게 갈아 그것의 가루를 산에서 흘러내리는 시내에 뿌렸느니라. | And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount. |
| 22 | 너희가 다베라와 맛사와 기브롯핫다아와에서 주의 진노를 일으켰느니라. | And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth–hattaavah, ye provoked the Lord to wrath. |
| 23 | 또한 주께서 너희를 가데스바네아에서 보내시며 말씀하시기를, 올라가서 내가 너희에게 준 땅을 소유하라, 하셨으되 그때에 너희가 주 너희 하나님의 명령을 거역하여 그분을 믿지 아니하고 그분의 음성에 귀를 기울이지 아니하였나니 | Likewise when the Lord sent you from Kadesh–barnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice. |
| 24 | 내가 너희를 안 날부터 너희가 주를 거역하였느니라. | Ye have been rebellious against the Lord from the day that I knew you. |
| 25 | 주께서 너희를 멸하리라고 말씀하셨으므로 내가 처음에 엎드린 것처럼 밤낮으로 사십 일 동안 그같이 주 앞에 엎드리고 | Thus I fell down before the Lord forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the Lord had said he would destroy you. |
| 26 | 그런 까닭에 주께 기도하여 이르되, 오 주 하나님이여, 주께서 주의 위대하심으로 구속하시고 강한 손으로 이집트에서 데리고 나오신 주의 백성 곧 주의 상속 백성을 멸하지 마옵소서. | I prayed therefore unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand. |
| 27 | 주의 종들 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱을 기억하사 이 백성의 완고함과 사악함과 죄를 보지 마옵소서. | Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin: |
| 28 | 그 땅 곧 주께서 우리를 데리고 나오신 그 땅이 말하기를, 주가 그들에게 약속한 땅으로 그들을 데려갈 능력도 없고 그들을 미워하므로 광야에서 그들을 죽이려고 그들을 데리고 나왔다, 할까 염려하나이다. | Lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the Lord was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness. |
| 29 | 그럼에도 그들은 주의 큰 능력과 뻗은 팔로 데리고 나오신 주의 백성 곧 주의 상속 백성이로소이다, 하였노라. | Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy mighty power and by thy stretched out arm. |
