1 그러나 얼마 뒤 밀을 수확할 때에 삼손이 염소 새끼를 가지고 자기 아내를 찾아가 이르되, 내가 침실에서 내 아내에게로 들어가고자 하노라, 하였으나 그녀의 아버지가 그를 들어가지 못하게 하고 But it came to pass within a while after, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in.
2 이르되, 나는 진정 네가 그녀를 철저히 미워하는 줄로 생각하였고 그러므로 그녀를 네 동무에게 주었노라. 그녀의 동생이 그녀보다 더욱 아름답지 아니하냐? 원하노니 그녀 대신에 동생을 취하라, 하였더라. And her father said, I verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her.
3 ¶삼손이 그들에 관하여 이르되, 이제 내가 블레셋 사람들에게 불쾌한 일을 행할지라도 그들보다 더 비난을 받지는 아니하리라, 하고는 And Samson said concerning them, Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure.
4 삼손이 가서 여우 삼백 마리를 붙잡아 꼬리와 꼬리를 묶고 불붙는 나무 조각들을 취하여 그 두 꼬리 사이 한가운데에 나무 조각 하나를 달고 And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails.
5 그 나무 조각에 불을 붙여 여우들이 블레셋 사람들의 베지 않은 곡식밭으로 들어가게 함으로 곡식 단과 베지 않은 곡식과 포도원과 올리브를 태우게 하니라. And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.
6 ¶이에 블레셋 사람들이 이르되, 누가 이 일을 행하였느냐? 하매 그들이 대답하되, 딤낫 사람의 사위 삼손이니 이는 그의 장인이 그의 아내를 취하여 그의 동무에게 주었기 때문이니라, 하매 블레셋 사람들이 올라가서 그녀와 그녀의 아버지를 불태우니라. Then the Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they answered, Samson, the son in law of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire.
7 ¶삼손이 그들에게 이르되, 너희가 이 일을 행하였을지라도 내가 너희에게 원수를 갚으리니 그 뒤에 내가 멈추리라, 하고는 And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.
8 블레셋 사람들을 사정없이 쳐서 크게 살육하고 내려가서 에담 반석 꼭대기에 거하니라. And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the top of the rock Etam.
9 ¶이에 블레셋 사람들이 올라와 유다에 진을 치고 레히에 널리 퍼지매 Then the Philistines went up, and pitched in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.
10 유다 사람들이 이르되, 너희가 어찌하여 올라와 우리를 치느냐? 하니 그들이 대답하되, 우리가 올라온 것은 삼손을 결박하여 그가 우리에게 행한 대로 그에게 행하려 함이라, 하니라. And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.
11 이에 유다 사람 삼천 명이 에담 반석 꼭대기로 가서 삼손에게 이르되, 블레셋 사람들이 우리를 다스리는 줄 네가 알지 못하느냐? 네가 우리에게 행한 이 일이 도대체 무엇이냐? 하니 삼손이 그들에게 이르되, 그들이 내게 행한 대로 나도 그들에게 행하였노라, 하거늘 Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.
12 그들이 그에게 이르되, 우리가 너를 결박하여 블레셋 사람들의 손에 넘겨주려고 내려왔노라, 하니 삼손이 그들에게 이르되, 너희가 직접 나를 덮치지 아니하겠다고 내게 맹세하라, 하매 And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.
13 그들이 그에게 말하여 이르되, 덮치지 아니하리라. 우리가 다만 너를 단단히 결박하여 그들의 손에 넘겨줄 뿐이요, 우리가 결코 너를 죽이지 아니하리라, 하고는 새 줄 두 개로 그를 결박하고 반석에서 그를 끌어내니라. And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.
14 ¶그가 레히에 이르매 블레셋 사람들이 그를 향해 소리를 지르더라. 주의 영께서 강력히 그에게 임하시매 그의 팔 위의 줄들이 불탄 아마같이 되어 그를 결박한 것들이 그의 손에서 떨어지니라. And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.
15 그가 나귀의 새 턱뼈를 보고 자기 손을 내밀어 그것을 취한 뒤 그것으로 천 명을 죽이고 And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.
16 이르되, 나귀의 턱뼈로 더미 위에 더미를 쌓았나니 나귀의 턱으로 내가 천 명을 죽였도다. And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.
17 그가 말하기를 마치고는 그 턱뼈를 자기 손에서 내던지고 그곳을 라맛레히라 부르니라. And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramath–lehi.
18 ¶그가 심히 목말라서 주를 부르며 이르되, 주께서 주의 종의 손에 이 큰 구출을 주셨사오나 내가 이제 목말라 죽어서 할례 받지 않은 자들의 손에 떨어져야 하리이까? 하니라. And he was sore athirst, and called on the Lord, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?
19 그러나 하나님께서 그 턱의 우묵한 곳을 쪼개시니 거기서 물이 나오더라. 삼손이 그 물을 마시매 그의 정신이 돌아와 그가 회복되었으므로 그곳의 이름을 엔학고레라 하였더라. 그것이 이 날까지 레히에 있느니라. But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof En–hakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.
20 블레셋 사람들의 시대에 그가 이십 년 동안 이스라엘을 재판하니라. And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.
