1 이제 이것은 다윗의 마지막 말이라. 이새의 아들 다윗이 말하니라. 높이 일으켜진 자, 야곱의 하나님에게서 기름 부음을 받은 자, 이스라엘의 달콤한 시편 기자가 이르기를, Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,
2 주의 영께서 나를 통하여 말씀하셨으며 그분의 말씀이 내 혀에 있었도다. The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.
3 이스라엘의 하나님께서 말씀하시며 이스라엘의 반석이 내게 이르시기를, 사람들을 다스리는 자는 반드시 의로워야 하고 하나님을 두려워하는 가운데 다스릴지니라. The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.
4 그는 해가 돋을 때의 아침 햇살 같고 구름 없는 아침 같으며 비가 온 뒤 맑게 비침으로 땅에서 움이 돋는 연한 풀 같으니라, 하셨도다. And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.
5 비록 내 집이 하나님께 대해 이와 같지 아니할지라도 그분께서 나와 영존하는 언약을 맺으사 모든 것을 정비하시고 확실하게 하셨으니 그 까닭은 비록 그분께서 내 집이 자라게 하지 아니하실지라도 이것이 나의 모든 구원이요, 나의 모든 소원이기 때문이라. Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.
6 ¶그러나 벨리알의 아들들은 다 내버릴 가시나무들 같으리니 이는 그것들을 손으로 잡을 수 없기 때문이로다. But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:
7 다만 그것들을 만질 자는 반드시 쇠와 창 자루로 둘러싸여야 하리니 그것들이 같은 곳에서 철저히 불살라지리로다, 하니라. But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.
8 ¶다윗이 소유한 용사들의 이름은 이러하니라. 자리에 앉았던 다그몬 사람 곧 에센 사람 아디노는 대장들 가운데 우두머리더라. 그가 자기 창을 들어 팔백 명을 치고 한 번에 그들을 죽였더라. These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.
9 그 다음은 아호아 사람 도도의 아들 엘르아살인데 그는 다윗과 함께한 세 용사 중의 하나더라. 블레셋 사람들이 싸우려고 함께 모이매 이스라엘 사람들이 물러섰으나 그때에 그들이 저들에게 도전하였고 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:
10 그가 일어나서 손이 피곤하여 칼에 달라붙을 때까지 블레셋 사람들을 쳤더라. 그 날에 주께서 큰 승리를 이루셨으므로 백성이 돌아와 그의 뒤를 따라가며 노략할 뿐이었더라. He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the Lord wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.
11 그 다음은 하랄 사람 아게의 아들 삼마더라. 블레셋 사람들이 떼를 지어 팥이 무성한 땅에 함께 모이매 백성이 블레셋 사람들로부터 도망하였으나 And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.
12 그는 그 땅 한가운데 서서 그 땅을 보호하고 블레셋 사람들을 죽였더라. 주께서 큰 승리를 이루셨더라. But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the Lord wrought a great victory.
13 또 서른 명의 우두머리 중에서 세 사람이 내려가 수확하는 때에 아둘람 굴에 이르러 다윗에게로 갔는데 블레셋 사람들의 떼가 르바임 골짜기에 진을 쳤더라. And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim.
14 다윗은 그때에 요새에 있었고 블레셋 사람들의 수비대는 그때에 베들레헴에 있었더라. And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Beth–lehem.
15 다윗이 애타게 바라며 이르되, 오 누가 베들레헴 성문 옆에 있는 우물의 물을 내게 주어 마시게 할까! 하매 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth–lehem, which is by the gate!
16 그 세 용사가 블레셋 사람들의 군대를 뚫고 나가서 베들레헴 성문 옆에 있던 우물의 물을 긷고 그것을 취해 다윗에게 가져왔으나 그럼에도 불구하고 그가 그것을 마시려 하지 아니하고 그것을 주께 부어 드리며 And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth–lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the Lord.
17 이르되, 오 주여, 내가 결단코 이런 일을 하지 아니하리이다. 이것은 생명의 위험을 무릅쓰고 갔던 사람들의 피가 아니니이까? 하고 그런 까닭에 그가 그것을 마시려 하지 아니하니라. 이 세 용사가 이런 일들을 행하였더라. And he said, Be it far from me, O Lord, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.
18 또 스루야의 아들 요압의 동생 아비새인데 그는 세 사람 가운데 우두머리더라. 그가 창을 들어 삼백 명을 쳐서 죽이고 세 사람 가운데 이름을 얻었으니 And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.
19 그가 세 사람 중에서 가장 존귀한 자가 아니었느냐? 그러므로 그가 그들의 대장이 되었으나 첫째 세 사람에게는 미치지 못하였더라. Was he not most honourable of three? therefore he was their captain: howbeit he attained not unto the first three.
20 또 갑스엘 출신 용사의 손자요, 여호야다의 아들인 브나야인데 그는 많은 일을 행하였더라. 그가 사자 같은 모압 사람 두 명을 죽였고 또 눈 올 때에 구덩이 한가운데서 사자 한 마리를 죽였으며 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:
21 또 잘생긴 이집트 사람을 죽였는데 그 이집트 사람의 손에 창이 있었으나 그가 막대기를 가지고 그 이집트 사람에게 내려가 그의 손에서 창을 빼앗아 그의 창으로 그를 죽였더라. And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and slew him with his own spear.
22 여호야다의 아들 브나야가 이런 일들을 행하였으므로 세 용사 가운데 이름을 얻고 These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.
23 그 서른 명보다 더 존귀하였으나 첫째 세 사람에게는 미치지 못하였더라. 다윗이 그를 세워 자기의 호위대를 다스리게 하였더라. He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.
24 요압의 동생 아사헬은 서른 명 중의 하나요, 또 베들레헴 출신 도도의 아들 엘하난과 Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth–lehem,
25 하롯 사람 삼마와 하롯 사람 엘리가와 Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,
26 발디 사람 헬레스와 드고아 사람 익게스의 아들 이라와 Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,
27 아네돗 사람 아비에셀과 후사 사람 므분내와 Abiezer the Anethothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,
28 아호아 사람 살몬과 느도바 사람 마하래와 Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,
29 느도바 사람 바아나의 아들 헬렙과 베냐민 자손에 속한 기브아 출신 리배의 아들 잇대와 Heleb the son of Baanah, a Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai out of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin,
30 비라돈 사람 브나야와 가아스 시내의 힛대와 Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,
31 아르밧 사람 아비알본과 바르훔 사람 아스마벳과 Abi–albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,
32 사알본 사람 엘리아바와 야센의 아들들 중의 하나인 요나단과 Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,
33 하랄 사람 삼마와 하랄 사람 사랄의 아들 아히암과 Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Hararite,
34 마아가 사람의 손자요, 아하스배의 아들인 엘리블렛과 길로 사람 아히도벨의 아들 엘리암과 Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,
35 갈멜 사람 헤스래와 아랍 사람 바아래와 Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,
36 소바 출신 나단의 아들 이갈과 갓 족속 바니와 Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,
37 암몬 족속 셀렉과 스루야의 아들 요압의 병기 드는 자 곧 브에롯 사람 나하리와 Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armourbearer to Joab the son of Zeruiah,
38 이델 사람 이라와 이델 사람 가렙과 Ira an Ithrite, Gareb an Ithrite,
39 헷 족속 우리야더라. 모두 서른일곱 명이었더라. Uriah the Hittite: thirty and seven in all.
