1 그러므로 다윗이 거기서 떠나 아둘람 굴로 피하매 그의 형제들과 그의 아버지의 온 집이 그 일을 듣고는 그들이 거기로 내려가 그에게 이르렀더라. David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him.
2 고난 중에 있던 모든 자와 빚진 모든 자와 불만이 있던 모든 자가 그에게로 모였고 그는 그들을 다스리는 대장이 되었더라. 거기에는 그와 함께한 사백 명가량의 사람이 있더라. And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.
3 ¶다윗이 거기서 모압의 미스바로 가서 모압 왕에게 이르되, 원하건대 하나님께서 나를 위하여 무엇을 하시려는지 내가 알 때까지 내 아버지와 어머니가 와서 당신들과 함께 있게 하소서, 하고 And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.
4 그들을 모압 왕 앞으로 데려갔더니 다윗이 요새에 있을 동안에 줄곧 그들이 그와 함께 있었더라. And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the hold.
5 ¶대언자 갓이 다윗에게 이르되, 너는 요새에 머무르지 말고 떠나서 유다 땅으로 들어가라, 하니 이에 다윗이 떠나서 하렛 숲에 이르니라. And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.
6 ¶다윗과 그와 함께 있던 사람들이 나타났다는 것을 사울이 들으니라. (이제 사울은 기브아에서 라마에 있던 나무 밑에 머무르며 손에 창을 들고 있고 그의 모든 신하들은 그 주위에 섰더라.) When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him;)
7 그때에 사울이 자기 주위에 선 자기 신하들에게 이르되, 너희 베냐민 족속들아, 이제 들으라. 이새의 아들이 너희 모든 사람에게 밭과 포도원을 주며 너희 모두를 천인 대장과 백인 대장으로 삼겠느냐? Then Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds;
8 너희 모두가 나를 대적하려고 음모를 꾸몄고 내 아들이 이새의 아들과 동맹을 맺은 것을 내게 알리는 자가 하나도 없으며 또 너희 중에서 나를 위해 슬퍼하거나 내 아들이 내 신하를 선동하여 이 날에라도 매복하였다가 나를 치려 하는 것을 내게 알리는 자가 하나도 없도다, 하니라. That all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that sheweth me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or sheweth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
9 ¶그때에 사울의 신하들을 다스리도록 세워진 에돔 족속 도엑이 응답하여 이르되, 이새의 아들이 놉에 와서 아히둡의 아들 아히멜렉에게 이른 것을 내가 보았는데 Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.
10 그가 그를 위하여 주께 묻고 그에게 양식을 주며 블레셋 사람 골리앗의 칼을 그에게 주었나이다, 하니라. And he enquired of the Lord for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.
11 이에 왕이 사람을 보내어 아히둡의 아들 제사장 아히멜렉과 그의 아버지의 온 집 곧 놉에 있던 제사장들을 부르매 그들이 즉 그들 모두가 왕에게 이르니라. Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.
12 사울이 이르되, 너 아히둡의 아들아, 이제 들으라, 하니 그가 응답하되, 내 주여, 내가 여기 있나이다, 하매 And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.
13 사울이 그에게 이르되, 어찌하여 너희 곧 너와 이새의 아들이 나를 대적하려고 음모를 꾸미며 네가 그에게 빵과 칼을 주고 그를 위하여 하나님께 물어서 그가 이 날에라도 매복하였다가 나를 치려고 일어나게 하려 하였느냐? 하니 And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
14 그때에 아히멜렉이 왕에게 대답하여 이르되, 왕의 모든 신하 가운데 다윗같이 신실한 자가 누구니이까? 그는 왕의 사위도 되며 왕의 분부대로 가기도 하고 또한 왕의 집에서 존귀한 자이니이다. Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all thy servants as David, which is the king’s son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house?
15 내가 그때에야 비로소 그를 위하여 하나님께 여쭙기 시작했나이까? 결단코 아니니이다. 왕께서는 왕의 종과 내 아버지의 온 집에게 아무 책임도 돌리지 마옵소서. 왕의 종은 이 모든 일에서 적든 많든 아무것도 알지 못하나이다, 하매 Did I then begin to enquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute any thing unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father: for thy servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.
16 왕이 이르되, 아히멜렉아, 네가 반드시 죽을 것이요, 너와 네 아버지의 온 집이 그러하리라, 하니라. And the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father’s house.
17 ¶왕이 자기 주위에 선 보병들에게 이르되, 돌아서서 주의 제사장들을 죽이라. 그들의 손이 다윗과 함께하고 또 그가 도망한 것을 알고도 그들이 그것을 내게 알리지 아니하였느니라, 하였으나 왕의 신하들이 자기 손을 내밀어 주의 제사장들을 덮치려 하지 아니하므로 And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the Lord; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the Lord.
18 왕이 도엑에게 이르되, 너는 돌아서서 제사장들을 덮치라, 하매 에돔 족속 도엑이 돌아서서 제사장들을 덮쳐 그 날에 아마 에봇을 입은 자 팔십오 명을 죽였고 And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.
19 제사장들의 도시 놉을 칼날로 치되 남자와 여자와 아이들과 젖 먹는 자들과 소와 나귀와 양들을 칼날로 쳤더라. And Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
20 ¶아히둡의 아들 아히멜렉의 아들들 중에서 하나가 도피하였는데 그의 이름은 아비아달이더라. 그가 다윗의 뒤를 따라 도망하니라. And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.
21 아비아달이 사울이 주의 제사장들을 죽인 것을 다윗에게 알리매 And Abiathar shewed David that Saul had slain the Lord’s priests.
22 다윗이 아비아달에게 이르되, 그 날에 에돔 족속 도엑이 거기 있기에 그가 반드시 사울에게 고할 줄 내가 알았노라. 내가 네 아버지 집의 모든 사람을 죽게 하였도다. And David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father’s house.
23 너는 두려워하지 말고 나와 함께 머무르라. 내 생명을 찾는 자가 네 생명도 찾느니라. 그러나 네가 나와 함께 있으면 안전하리라, 하니라. Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.
